Which is superior? Cats or Dogs

I happen to love them both! What do you think?

:cat: :dog:

Currently, I’m team cat, but my felines Garfield (age 18) and Nermal (age 15) will be my last two. Both my husband and I are allergic and looking to get a doggo (min pin) in the coming years.

I only really owned one cat I liked and his name was Garfield also.

Dogs are my current go to because of where I live. Plus Dogs if trained correctly are awesome.

Cat and dogs living together…mass hysteria!

Since I play feral, I’ll say…BOTH!

And yes, my therapy bills are fairly high.

Dogs are better than cats, because they are loyal and grateful.

Your cat wouldn’t care at all if you died; does frequently die from grief when their owner dies–even if the owner is far away from them, the DOG KNOWS!

You have never owned a cat then?

My cats are excited when I get home, they want to be with my wife and I constantly. They love affection.

And one of my cats seems to have a knack for sensing when my wife is about to have a seizure

Cats are wonderful creatures

Dogs are cool, but cats? They’re the best

They trully are! I remember reading a study a couple of years ago where scientists were training dogs to detect cancerous tumors.

I used to be 100% Dog and 0% Cat.

But about 2 years ago I rescued a sick cat of the streets. Kept him.
Then I rescued a female that was trapped in a wall.
Then a sick kitten off my porch who must have been about 3 weeks old when he was abandoned.

We also have a bad stray cat problem here, so they’re always around my house. Small town Texas.

So… it’s like 50/50 these days. I’ve taken to them.

I still think cats are beautiful and exotic, but for me there is no competition between the two, unless they breed a cat which acts like a dog.

Here’s an anecdote: My aunt had been sick for some time with breast cancer, and her situation was going downhill. The family dog would often go with my uncle to his business to guard the place against intruders. One night when the dog was with my uncle at his business, the dog begins to cry and dies on the spot. When my uncle got home, he saw that his wife had passed away.

And for that, dogs will always have my love.

Oh my goshers!!!

I had cats named Garfield and Nermal too!

Garfield passed away but Nermal is living with my parents right now since my kids are too allergic.

I am team cat. I like both as well but there is nothing better than a cat making biscuits. I love them.

I am deeply sorry for you and your family’s loss. Cancer certainly hits so close to home. It’s remarkable how dogs share that lifeline so closely with members of their pack. Thank you for sharing your remarkable story!

You clearly do not know cats at all it what it seems like. The cat that I’ve had for 16 years who passed away two years ago, knew which car I drove and when she was outside, she would’ve waited for me.

Cats love to get close to you and cuddle, just like dogs except sometimes cats would want to play sometimes it’s just how they do it whether it’s too rough or light.

Also when our family went overseas for about a month, our cat was left at the house with the neighbors taking good care of her. When we got back, she was going crazy as soon as she saw us.

So saying cats wouldn’t care if the owner dies is a bit of an understatement. Some animals are intelligent while others not so much. They’re unique in many different ways but if a animal gets too overly attached to its owner, they’ll understand if they died or not and will get sad over it.

Plus the cat i adopted recently was so excited seeing me wanting to hold him for the first time. It was like I was already it’s owner and he just gave me a hug and cuddled with me.

There are few greater pleasures in this world than holding a purring cat in your lap.

i’ve only kept one cat, in my early twenties, despite being allergic to cat dander. kitty supplies aren’t particularly cheap here in Philippines. and unless you absolutely keep them inside, they’ll breed freely with the strays and hassle neighbors’ roosters & pigeons

family has kept multiple doggos for as long as i remember, at one time they were purebreeds but nowadays they are just mongrel. current ones annoyingly mark my vehicles tires and will hide at the sound of any pyrotechnic
