Where do players get gold?

Im a casual player, come and go and leveling to 70 usually make 1K gold through the leveling process per character after buying skills. How does one afford riding skills especially 5K fast flying skill in the game? Months of grinding? I know buying gold is against the terms. In 2022 are we still expected to slowly grind out gold for these things?

Yes

Dailies are a pretty solid place to start. If you have gathering professions, herbalism and alchemy can net you a lot of gold as well.

If youre super into it then you can try to play the AH game… but that takes a lot of time and dedication.

There was that person that got her epic flying mount in a interesting way back in TBC.

Also completing quests at max level gives gold instead of EXP, generally each quest will give between 7-15g when your maxed out for the expansion.

Dailies really are your best bet. Some you have to unlock (Ogrilla, Netherwind) but the Isle and PVP ones, etc you don’t. A lot of the prices of things on the AH that you could have farmed have crashed in the last few months so not worth the time. If you can find something to farm though that’s decently priced on your AH that works too.

I personally don’t recommend using your gold for GDKP gear at this point because we’re so close to Wrath. Not before epic flying or trade skill stuff anyway. Not that you mentioned that at all just saying.

The basic flying goes to 150 speed in Wrath and you should find it even easier to make gold just by playing so don’t worry about it too much.

I did all the quest in TBC on my main shaman to afford epic flying as Dailies weren’t really out yet for the most part in phase 1. I also sold minerals at the time, but the market isn’t as high as it was then.

Just the Isle dailies will get you about 100+g a day.

TBH wait until prepatch, cost will go down based upon your Thrallmar/Honorhold rep.

Yes, in 2022 you are still expected to play the game if you want to play the game.

The auction house I made over 900k from the auction house.

It is ok to not have epic fly mount yet ,because you wont need it in wotlk untill lvl 80 and you will make 3-4k just by leveling in every zone from 70-80.And you will have a tons of dailys to do at 80.

From 1 to 70 is more than 1k gold worth of quests stop buying from the AH. Outland quests alone are 5 to 7k gold especially if done properly. Like leaving netherstorm and shadowmoon quests until 70 most of the questz are 11 to 24g.

Also if u lvl alts pick a main get that one epic flying and the rest normal flying and then do dailies just the dailies on isle is 100g. If yoy have 5 characters thats 500g a day.

Appreciate all the advice. I never buy anything from AH, dont use consumables, buy flights as little as possible. Guess ill run dailies and quests and see where that gets me.

dailies are a good way, with the raw stuff you collect as well can make decent gold quickly, also someone mentioned doing regular quests at max level (that is how i did it on this toon start of tbcc)

I also like to make my alts enchanters, get the skill high enough to disenchant anything possible and that way when youre leveling/dungeoning/dailies/max level normal quests you can d/e the gear for mats that usually sells for a lot more than just vendoring the item (I vendor the weps tho, normally more gold that way then d/e), still a good way even if you do this at max level, but then ofc you need to drop the gold to level enchanting if you dont have it

I mean can you blame me I had the extra gold.

An epic ride for epic riding, as I recall… haha

Keep in mind when the pre-patch hits, 60% slow fliers should be bumped up to 150% speed fliers, so that not having epic flying isn’t quite so brutal.

I made the money for epic flying from doing dailies. Sure it takes some time but you will get there. It definitely wasn’t months either. Level your first aid and when you are done with your dailies turn all the netherweave into heavy bandages and vendor them. Sell the scryer signets on ah, if you get any agi or str scrolls put them on the ah too.

Its not an over night process it definitely takes time but if you keep it up everyday you will get there.

yes months of grinding. if you do ~16 dailies plus selling all the materials , you’ll make ~250g per day

Be sure to have a good auction house add on. Check often for how much things are selling on the AH. If you’re selling items to NPC vendors, there’s a good chance you’re missing out on a lot of gold.
