The people currently involved with the character creation process aren’t good at it. They were hired because they are good at monetization. It’s been many years since anyone at Blizzard valued the integrity of the story or its history.
Thats literally what it is.
Look at the court case with the pilot that crashed a plane. He was a black man who only passed pilot school because of diversity quotas.
He died because of left wing racism.

This is a weird take, you don’t have to be a gamer to write good characters. A person does need to know the lore behind a game and understand it to write good characters for it. Alleria is supposed to be a conflicted anti-hero but it is just done poorly. She is also just too emotional given her life experience. She should not be this easy to manipulate.

There will always be exceptions, but the rule is that a writer who is also a gamer will writes better most of the time than people who are not gamer and only writers.
Statistically speaking any hiring prerequisite that isn’t merit based is inevitably going to result in a less talented and capable workforce.

I see. So you want Blizzard to go back to hiring white guy friends-of-friends who fit into the frat boy culture like they did in the “good old days”. Fun fact: most management is still dominated by people who don’t seem able to run a videogame company successfully.
The idea that there is one and only one “best applicant” for a job that gets many applications is more like a lie than anything else, except maybe a deliberate misunderstanding of how businesses work. But as long as we see people who do not fit your definition of “the proper people to hire for that job” you will complain that the wrong person got hired.
