TWW Heroes don’t feel like they were written by a single person with great vision for telling stories. They came across more like they were seperately written by different people acting as tour-guides designed to showcase a particular part of the expansion.
Hilarious for the fact that the writers at the time all say that was in error and he shouldn’t have been portrayed like that
This is definitely true.
In 1 minute I can think of a character more interesting than anyone written in TWW.
"A certain paladin [insert name here] is one of Arathi’s lieutenants in Hallowfall, he has always been very talented with light and has led several defenses of the people of Arathi against Nerubians over the years.
Prioress Murpray tried to bribe him into joining her, but he refused. Despite being very talented with light, this lieutenant has his doubts about the morality of the Arathi emperor.
In the last attack on Mereldar, a great nerubian general almost annihilated the city, but in a confrontation between the player and the general, paladin lieutenant [insert name here] helps him defeat the general and saves Mereldar.
This paladin lieutenant [insert name here] is already a great hero for people in Mereldar."
I just made up this story in 1 minute, its generic but it still better than any character in TWW.
Ew no.
I hate gimmick quests.
The current writers can’t do better than turning mediocre characters like Alleria into bad ones.
100% true, Alleria and Xal looks like Tyrande and Sylvanas in shadowlands.
“ill follow you until the end of the world!!! nobody will stap me!!11”
So bad, these characters are already dead.
As long as they are not over done I am okay with them. One or two quest out of a hundred is not bad. Even more so if they are used for character growth as a side quest. They are still better than the escort quests.
whispers
They are trying to recreated the Illidan/ Maiev dynamic.
Maiev had the “vengeance” thing and Tyrande had the “night warrior” thing…
Alleria is just poorly written by a non-gamer
We not gettin new characters of their caliber.
This is such a horrible take rooted in ignorance.
They were all poorly written.
The writing for WoW has always been garbage. The best thing they could ever do was take pre existing characters from another game line up, and try (and fail) not to ruin it in WoW. The Lich King.
Why? why this is suposed to be a hard thing?
Ga’nar
Lack of transparency and public feedback before hand, unrealistic corporate mandated deadlines, and financial crippling of creativity.
Soon as someone tells the writing staff that just plastering “emo elf chicks” all over the place isn’t story telling maybe we will make some headway.
Sure I wouldnt call these old characters deep or “well written.”
But they had an interesting surface level aesthetic. And were cool.
Which is good enough for a video game.
Being well written is not always about complexity, sometimes being simple is what is needed.
This is definitely the case of wow, Orcs are suposed to be savage, dumb and fun. And this is exactly why nobody likes Thrall.
Thats exactly what it is.
It’s not, though.
not, though.
Everyone can have opinions, but not everyone will always be right, thats fine
There’s opinions and then there’s being objectively wrong about how hiring practices work.
