When we do get Accountwide Rep... Will you play Alts more?

It lets your Argent Gruntling pet access mail/bank/vendor. Four hour cooldown.

Then tell us what max renown gets you on a main vs no renown on an alt ?

I mean the caverns also have introduction quests that give a lot rep.

But that’s not here or there they could easily make those quests one time/account, the real problem is with normal quests, wq and rep tokens.

So for that to work normal quests and wq can’t give you rep more than once/account and guess what? Some Wq have nothing besides rep as rewards, you couldn’t give rep tokens for the weakly quest or have stuff like the scroll that gives rep once per toon.

But the dumb part is that blizzard will probably not do that and just tune everything assuming people have like 3 to 5 alts, so yeah gives almost nothing, back to old days where certain things only give rep to a certain level all awhile they are expecting for you to be max rep in 1month only if you do everything with 5 characters.

Y’all shooting yourself in the foot

Maybe a little. With almost every thing being account wide:

  • titles
  • pets
  • toys
  • mounts
  • transmogs
  • tabards

and recipes/patterns being the only thing from the quartermaster that’s not account wide, I don’t see that making me play an alt much more. There is a few things that I would want to knock out, like a couple of missing paragon mounts from SL, but that’s it.

Having said that, it was always really stupid to me that legacy reps are not account wide once they made almost every thing from the quartermaster account wide. So the only reason to grind a rep on your alt is to get an outdated recipe or work on paragon caches. Neither of those are game breaking. This will be an excellent QOL change (when it happens.)

I can’t say I will play more alts but it will make switching mains much easier to swallow. Of course this comes once I finally learn to stop caring about trying to be a completion because there is no way to catch up.

Ah looks like its not even really account wide rep as the bars on your character page don’t get filled so it doesn’t help people with OCD. In this case it looks like it will not change my play style at all.

Moo!

I don’t play them now mostly because I hate leveling. So while I do appreciate the call for all this account wide stuff, I have never benefited from it :dracthyr_a1:

Already have so :dracthyr_shrug:

Like was a Warlock main but well as you can probably guess swapped to Evoker.

Those two words should never be used together

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. Nothing you said was true.

Everything I said was true. All the stuff you’re assuming was alt unfriendly was just game unfriendly in general.

In 9.0
I had rogue maxed out in 3 of 4 covenants by the second month

I then swapped warlock in 9.0.1 due to the state of rogue.

In 9.1 I started as mage and swapped between rogue and hunter due to raid group needs.

9.2 I mained hunter and played mage as an alt.

9.3 I just played casually due to irl.

So no he only one not knowing what they are talking about is you.

I doubt it will change my alt playing much. If anything, it might make me play less.

For example, once my alts got the gear upgrades from the cavern that they need, and had no need to do any further work on rep because its been made accountwide, they’d go up on a shelf that much faster.

Emet said that in the interview it would only be legacy reps.

Edit: blah, Emet is the OP. I meant Ion said in the interview that it would only be legacy reps.

I’m still drinking my coffee.

Which would mean fewer things to do with an alt, if I ever bothered to make another.

I see not problem with this, more quality of life changes. It’ll be a nice change to focus on other aspects of the game.

Of course it will happen.

They will simply cap the amount of rep you can earn per day or week. This is how SWTOR does it.

Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes.

So the solution to “we want to play our alts more” is to cap what your alts can do?

That makes zero sense.

Never really cared about maxing rep on my alts. Account wide rep probably won’t make me change my main. I want to earn exalted on every faction that I can with this character specifically.

I would much rather have account bound currencies. And more items like crest fragments be account bound. I would also like an account wide reagent bank for crafting. Both of these are more useful than account wide rep in my opinion.

I mean, they already did a pretty good job of that with the cavern. The contracts are worth less, there’s not a lot of world quests to get the rep (though that’s true of most reps), and the mini events are pretty boring. The extremely slow trickle from all the options, and then looking at exactly how much you need to hit max or even some of the more important thresholds makes me just go do something else/play another game. Pretty sure that rings true for most people.

The old idea of hubs where you grind reps for days/weeks on end really needs to die or to at least not be the only option outside of weeklies. Gimme rep tabards back yall. World content fine every now and then, but it’s not something I want to login every couple days and do or miss out on rep.

No it makes perfect sense because this will enable alts to use rep rewards more easily while also preventing people from going all the way from neutral to exalted in a day on content they want to gate.

This is how they will do it most likely.
