When do you think we'll get playable tinker class?

probably never. blizzard has always made their new classes incredibly expansion focused and the shot of a super tech focused expansion is well…slim.

Perhaps it doesn’t have to be an Entirely tech focused expansion. Just be in a Location that permits it. Like Pandaria.
Mists of Pandaria wasn’t ABOUT Monks. It was about Old Gods, The Factions, War, and the Racial Leaders.
But Since it was set in Pandaria, we got Monks.

So what about an Expansion that is set in like. The Undermine, or some other underground zone. It could be about Old Gods, or Elementals, or some other sub-terranian Villain. But it could feature Tinkers because it’s set in Undermine.

Or maybe a Titan themed Expansion. It could be focused primarily on the titans/void lords/ other world souls, But since Titans have crazy tech it could also introduce Tinkers.

Thoughts?

I’ve been begging for a Journey to the Center of the Earth style xpac. Go see what’s happening underground and with Azeroth after the sword tried to take her out (and likely corrupted her). Tinkers would be perfect for that theme.

Oh yes. There’s so much potential underground.
Obviously the Undermine is a must have. It was intended to be introduced I think 3 seperate times in WoW’s history. But there’s also all the abandoned gnome cities they lost in the Trogg Wars. We also know the Old Gods have more prevalance deeper in the earth thanks to zones like Highmountain or the Dwarves going crazy in Bael’modan.

Also it would be a new expansion that doesn’t add another Island! Woohoo!
(Though the most well known entrance to the Undermine is on Kezan… and Island. :point_right: :point_left: )

Could have some old school Dark Trolls kicking around down there too. Waterfalls coming from the ceilings, jungles like Hollow Earth type zones…they could get creative.

But we’ll probably just get more zombies and demons next xpac…

Blegh. We’ve had too much of the same Villains.

If I had free creative license to make next expansion, I would make the Primary enemy Gallywix after he ran away at the end of BFA. He should use his bottomless supply of money to get a Huge mercenary army. Comprised of all the races of Azeroth.

That would be a unique Villain we haven’t had before. An Organized Military with Modern weapons. Guns/bombs/planes/tanks.
The closest we got to that was the Iron Horde.

Our Fantasy Armies of Wizards, Knights, and Dragons vs a Steampunk Military. Very cool aesthetic. Better than Fighting the Mawsworn an entire expansion.

Never because Horde does not want them

Well, what would tinkers do in combat that’s not just use a bunch of various engineering consumables?

this thread brings me back to the time months back where tinker advocates were insisting that tinkers were pretty much confirmed before DF got announced

Well, there’s a few obvious answers.
Firstly, do what every class does and steal from Warcraft 3. So Missiles, Turrets, and Mechs.
Likely they’d behave like the Tinker NPC’s from BFA. So we’d have a turret builder class with ranged missile attacks and guns, as well as a melee tank in a Mech. The BFA NPC’s also had a healer spec. Used a gun and shot Allies to heal them.

That’s all just spitballing.
But when in doubt, base things off NPC’s and Warcraft 3.

This is Wishful thinking. But if I could be a Tank in a Shredder like Gazlowe or the Gob Squad with their AMOD. That would be a dream come true.

So far you’ve given me a hunter ability, a mechagon consumable, and engineering mounts.

So what you’re telling me is that this tinker class is a hunter with engineering in mechagon?

Probably never - engineering already fills the fantasy in some respects, and not enough demand for the role or popularity for the races that would be most likely to fit the role.

I’m not talking about exploding shot. I mean a barrage of propelled missiles. Like what we see Gazlowe and Mekkatorque use.
Ya know, missiles, an explosive rocket with propellant. The Tinker hero could fire clusters of them to stun enemies in WC3.

Also, I wouldn’t consider a Mount and a Consumable from 2 expansions ago to be very relevant.

I mean something more like the Amod from that one quest in Nazmir. Piloting a Mech with explosive firepower. That’s not like any class we have.

Well, we know it’s not happening until we do an expansion where they are incredibly thematically relevant to the core idea and story of the expansion, like DKs in wrath, Monks in Pandaria, DHs in Legion, and now Evokers in Dragonflight.

So for tinkers to exist, the core concept of the expansion has to be closely tied to that concept.

I touched on this earlier, maybe you’d be interested in this:

Okay I can’t quote myself on mobile for some reason. But earlier in the thread I mentioned that we don’t necessarily need an entire Tinker expansion, we just need an expansion that goes to some tech related zone.

Like Pandaria wasn’t an expansion about monks and kung fu. It was an expansion about titans, old gods, and the faction war. But it was set in pandaria. So we got Monks.

So theoretically we could have an Expansion in undermine or something that features Tinkers, but is about something entirely different.

It morphed into that, but in 5.0 it was very much an expansion about exploring pandaria, meeting the pandaren, and how that land interacted with the existing story.

Exactly. And DragonFlight has started as Exploring a new island and a new culture and learning about the new class. And I’m sure it’ll morph into something else as time goes on.

And an Expansion with Tinkers could start in Undermine for example and be all about Technology and Goblin Crime gangs. But then morph into something else.

Just a thought. An Expansion that adds Tinkers doesn’t need to be all about Machines and tech and nothing else.

I’d say that only shadowlands was about 1 thing strictly.
It was JUST Shadowlands and fighting the Mawsworn. That was the entire expansion and it sucked.

Even Really one-note expansions branched off. Legion had the Emerald Nightmare. Cataclysm had a bunch of Titan tech stuff.

But shadowlands was ALLLLLL Jailer/sylvanas. And it sucked

Then they would have to believe that this concept would generate player hype. Ever since the reaction to Pandaria, they’ve been careful to try and avoid pulling something out of left field for an expansion reveal, instead opting for something that would sell and create attention.

As crazy as it may sound, I actually believe Blizz made Evoker by stealing from Tinker.

Armor is Mail/Int.
Mid Range DPS/Healing with flying abilities.
Visage and Dracthyr = Gnome/Goblin and Mech.

Evoker is basically everything I wanted in Tinker. Obliviously with different animations.
