When are you going to get over Teldrassil?

Sorry that the big story beats that literally change the course of an entire playable race and the nature of a continent is a major topic of discussion. If anything, blame Blizzard for dropping the entire plotline and sweeping it under the rug to play “Humans make peace with the Horde” again. If we actually had some sort of definitive conclusion instead of some half-assed warfront intro chain, people would probably be talking about it less.

Nothing like this has happened in WoW before, at all, and yet it’s being brushed aside by the writers. It makes perfect sense for people to talk about it.

If it was confined to one thread, sure.

Except it isn’t.

Every thread devolves into one of two things:

  1. Sylvanas.

  2. Night Elves complaining about something.

Yep those are 2 of the like 4 things to talk about

Night elves
Sylvanas
Sarufang
Making the alliance villians

Which usually devolves into Night Elves and Sylvanas.

Because 90% of the threads are about the faction war or the general dislike of the story direction, and the writers. Ergo, the things that are most significant in the faction war to the players are going to come up. Also the things that are the most obviously bad about the story, such as massive status quo changes that are then left unresolved.

It’s like complaining about people talking about Darth Vader in a forum discussing the original trilogy.

“When are people going to get over Vader killing Obi-Wan? He comes back later anyway.”

The circle of topics ?

So is it the hallmark of Male Void Elf posters to post bait now? Is this the Male Human Paladin of Void Elves?

We can only hope

…let me introduce you to this race called the “high elves”…

Fictitious race invented by Lord of the Rings fans.

They’re trying to be edgy, but the irony is this would be pretty dull and too kumbaya if people just “got over things”.

Pretty much the reason I left the Discord. Feels like almost everyone is just there to stir up other people.

Its the Blood Elf player who cannot bare to switch to something less edgy for his weekly troll.

Story-wise, WoT killed most of the kaldorei population, decimated a starting zone and dessecrated the race characterization from wc3 in order to get shock value for extra damage.

Orcs were muscle brain warmongers in the rts, vanilla and every posterior iteration of the game. SoO simply told a story we all know:
Orcs cannot be left to their own devices for fifteen minutes without commiting war crimes.

Seriously … I lose all empathy for certain members of the Night Elf playerbase when it comes to posts like this. With one hand they claim the loss of two C-List characters are a dire loss of tragedy and regret; then with the other hand demand the heads of 3 to ALL of our remaining Horde A and B list characters. The idea that the Night Elf players are so privileged in character representation that they can mourn a character who’s only defining feature was her name (Sira), and a character deliberately designed to die to hammer home those Sylvie parallels (Summermoon) as a tragic losses is bonkers to me (and the reason it was THESE two that died was because Blizz wouldn’t dare risk killing a NE with actual value). And they aren’t even “dead” … they’re still kicking around.

You never had any sympathy in the first place.
The majority of the time you are here is to argue how much of a fraud NE’s and their nature-centric culture is.
Nevermind their characters or depictions.

Unlike Saurfang or Baine who just looked at the Alliance’s general direction.
Sira and Delaryn were killed, and apparently, raised willingly to join the Horde and their murder warmachine.

Imagine if you will Blood Elf characters like Aethas, fellow B or C characters as you like to call them, join the Alliance because Jaina wanted to purge the sunreaver filth from her city.

Makes sense right?

Lets just say its not a real surprise if you used an alt-tracking site to see who the OP is.

To be fair, it’s just a couple people, tops. Most folks in the Discord are unsubbed, like everyone else. That’s why I called it an “undercurrent”, it’s not some mass, conspiratorial coordinated effort.

Just going to toss an idea out there: Maybe Horde characters should stop committing, or otherwise being complicit in, utterly heinous atrocities that demand that kind of retribution in order to have a satisfactory conclusion.

I realize that’s on the writers for making them that way. But meta-knowledge doesn’t undo the tragedy and the damage.

And those couple people are enough to sour the entire Discord to me. They dominate every conversation and have no other desire than annoying and angering other people. I’m not going to hang around a place where this kind of stuff goes on.

We have no control over that, none.

How the hell were we supposed to know Blizzard was going to kill off one of our few remaining founders of the Horde (after letting him do NOTHING as Warchief) to install the LEAST representative leader in his stead? To force the FAR WEAKER faction to attack the faction not even operating in the same Genre of Fantasy as the Horde anymore, in a war we are told from the very beginning we could never hope to win if the DEMIGODS of the Alliance weren’t handicapped (functionally and ideologically)?

On top of this NONE of our leaders who SHOULD have had an issue with Teldrassil, were ALLOWED to have an issue with Teldrassil (because it would have been inconvenient for Sylvie personal friggen narrative for them to do so)? Heck, even now apparently the Horde People are still loyal to her, which is VERY unlikely meant to be for the characterization of the Horde (but to reinforce the Sylvie=Ogmot’s Laughing Shepherd nonsense).

Truth of the matter is, Blizzard does not seem to give a crap about the Horde Faction Identity OR the Racial Fantasies of nearly all of our races. They give lip service to it in the form of these stupid rebellions, but its very clear that structurally this entire story was just some contrived nonsense to let Sylvie do what Sylvie needs to do to setup future content (and it doesn’t matter how much our Faction, Races, and Rep Roster gets damaged or dragged through the mud to do it). We’re just a vehicle to move the plot along … and one to be ignored when the REAL story kicks in.
