What's your player housing wishlist?

I want a hot tub with bubbles and a vibrating bed that is shaped like a heart!

  1. Stables for my Mounts…my hunter pets and my Battle pets…that change auto daily and rotate though the amount I have.
  2. Place to cook either inside the house or outside like a BBQ outside set up.
  3. Be able to make rugs…curtains…bed…and so and be able to place them.
  4. A fully stocked Fishing Lake with different fish each day…all way up to current fish with a new expansion.
  5. Be able to grow some vegs as we see in TWW you have to buy certain things aka vegs to cook with so why can’t we grow them…we did in MoP…
  6. Armor stands to show off our armor sets we earned.
  7. Placements for Head Trophies…either inside or outside too…
  8. No mines or herb gardens…WoD garrison ruined gathering sales with those.
  9. Storage chests linked to our banks…

“The biggest lesson learned from Garrisons was the risk of having a personal instanced environment, detracting from the social experiences of the world. Their goal for Player Housing is for a system that feels social.”

So will we get housing from FF14? I want a personal instanced house without the risk to loose it with the time and for everyone. Not a house limited in the time if you don’t use it and limited for all players who want buy one in a specific area.

Honestly anything short of a large cardboard box surrounded by empty booze bottles and a couple of old tires is unacceptable.

-hunter pets/mounts/pets able to roam around or sleep on rugs/wonder around protecting the land from enemies/guarding.

-npcs come visit. Chance for a friendly npc you adventured with to visit you OR enemies show up to your front door that give you goodies for the home.

-maybe romance options? Love interest npcs from around the world. I know its probably a long shot but I was thinking of harvest moon/stardew with a gifts system.

-furniture or displays only available with certain achievements. For example if you own invincible you get something undead themed.

-able to display the history of your character, like “This is my home, adventuring since 2008” and show off how long the character has been around for.

-Maybe farmland? Nothing crazy like in garrisons but craftable items that grant you plants for your home.

Sounds like Love is in the air loot. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

IMO there should be neighborhoods with 50-60 houses each so you can wander around to see everyone’s houses. Obviously you can set it to disallow anyone but you and your friends from actually coming onto your property if you really want to.

I want to see options for guild housing too.

The one thing I don’t want to see is limited availability of housing plots like in FFXIV.

It to be 100% optional.

A storyline/questline (unrelated to housing) locked behind opening it up.

I’m neither for or against housing for those that want it, I just don’t want it.

I want housing to be the end game for the many players who are explorers, RPers, and collectors. A lot of players don’t play to compete; they play to . . . play. There is a HUGE audience for games that allow “cozy” or relaxing activities and many have played WoW that way for years.

I have spent hours and hours just flying around collecting mats, making stuff, getting rep, collecting pets and transmogs and mounts. Many others have as well.

Make housing mostly about all those activities that don’t reward gear. Let us craft stuff. Let us go back into old content and find stuff. Hide stuff around in the whole world. Imagine going back to Duskwood and finding a chair in one of the old houses. Or grabbing a bed from a hovel outside of Crossroads. How about doing old raids and finding something? And please don’t make crafting overly complex.

And don’t make it really hard. Seriously. Housing should not be stressful. We have plenty of challenging content. People who want housing don’t want to have to raid to get stuff. Raiders and M+ players have the best gear, as they should. Housing things should not be added to the hardest current content.

A separate forum for Player Housing, so there aren’t 25 posts about it daily in GD for the next 15mos.

Hey bestie! :nail_care: If 25 posts about player housing are too much for you, maybe it’s time to take a lil’ scroll break and let the rest of us talk about the new feature! :house_with_garden::sparkles: Hope this helps! :sparkling_heart:

I can’t wait to build my house! I hope they give us lots of different templates, I’ve always wanted to have a Gilneas inspired manor like the one you encounter in the Worgen starting quest!

  1. zone based maps
  2. make all items blizz shop only
  3. have player based events you can schedule at your player housing
  4. needs to be an instance so you can build more than just a house, build a village plaza
  5. have 2 types of player housing, guild and player
  6. no rent

This would go over well with the general player base.

I want a variety of types of architecture. I think many, if not most, of the props should be crafted in game using existing or even a new profession.

I think there should be a variety of plots and location as well as a variety of layouts, all at different price points.

Preferably I’d like them to find a way to do this in the existing world, I don’t think I’d like a floating island or completely instanced island to us alone.

I also think there should be special trophies or things we can earn via gameplay and display in our homes but I think these should be time limited.

Someone who one shots Queen Ansurek in five expansions should not be able to display a statue commemorating her defeat. I think tying raid boss trophies to season or at worst expansion specific achievements is best.

There will 100% be housing items on the store. If you think otherwise, prepare to be surprised.

I’d be surprised if the most expensive edition of midnight didn’t come with several housing related items that aren’t obtainable outside of paying extra too

Ofc there will be. But that poster said “only.”

Just a few things I’d love to see

  1. Warband housing rather than character* specific housing (explained below)
  2. Houses are earned via a storyline rather than bought with gold etc. The bronze dragonflight calls you down to the caverns of time because islands lost in the twisting nether of the timeways have started appearing more and more frequently and they need your help dealing with them. The player then gets to select an island (maybe with basic buildings on it that you can upgrade/change later. that or just a ground layout you like) and fight back the infinite dragonflight and the denizens of that island, similar to the other timeways dungeons. Perhaps this quest works in waves, you land and take an initial foothold and then have to build a time anchor or something to call in aid from other NPCs to open walls etc. Once you bring down the walls in your path you unlock new bosses which then let you expand into that new area. (bonus side wish, guild housing would be unlocked via a similar thing but maybe on the scale of a dungeon or even raid. I think having different islands, and some of them requiring a raid group, would be really cool. It would mean that some options would be locked from some players or smaller guilds. but I think it’s okay as long as the only real differentiator between the dungeon/raid islands is size with maybe a special statue or something)
  3. Once you have your island unlocked I’d love to see lots of options for architecture, if it’s too much to have totally custom buildings, it would be cool to at least be able to choose the style of every building etc.
  4. I’d like to be able to designate “plots” as certain buildings. Something like saying the area to the left of your keep in this specific circle (building or outdoor, whichever you prefer) is a “forge.” Some areas you can do on any toon, stuff like a mount barn. Other areas would require you to meet some requirement. Maybe it’s something like reaching max blacksmithing skill in at least 1 expansion set unlocks the “forge” designation, or reaching level 50 on a hunter to unlock a hunter pet barn. This then lets you set up a forge, and that forge is functional rather than just cosmetic. This leans into the warband wide house rather than single character, as to unlock all the optional content you’d need to meet requirements of different professions, classes, and races.
  5. If there are selections of specific “areas” I’d love to see them be functional and add a way to progress your house without impacting the rest of the game. Maybe to make the fanciest hinges for the fanciest doors you can get in the game, you have to have unlocked the master forge by reaching maximum skill in blacksmithing in every expansion. Just another bonus to playing other parts of the game. Or maybe an easier version is that if you want to go make the hinges for doors from Wrath, you need to have reached maximum wrath blacksmithing level and unlocked a frozen forge or something. This would also let you show off your prowess if someone walked in and saw that you had all 13 different blacksmithing forges unlocked.
  6. Having anything impacting you outside of the housing feature is a big negative in my book. No one should feel forced to play this feature, it should be strictly opt in. Which then enables to have more freedom. I think that having a mine/garden on island can be fine as long as it is only used for housing content. Preferably on a weekly lockout so players can go at their own speed with it. But I think it would be fine if there was a mine that gave you special time-infused stone that was required when building the foundations of a building or something. But it wouldn’t tie the player down to logging in every day for the rest of the expac/forever.
  7. Letting battle pets / followers from previous expacs / mounts / hunter and warlock pets / or maybe just a new HousingNPC type wander around would be amazing. Maybe you can designate a burning blade orc to stand guard outside the forge. Or maybe we can go out and earn a chibi version of the Runecarver from shadowlands and have him work in the forge alongside you.
  8. Players should have reasons to go back and do pretty much all old content. I want to have to go back and do old dungeons, raids, battle grounds, level characters and old professions, and do quests they might have missed. I don’t think players should be forced to go redo completed quests (although I guess adventure sync lets people who only play one character maybe go redo old quests?). This doesn’t need to all be implemented right away, I think it could be more similar to timewalking in that maybe we get a new expac added every patch cycle or two. But I want to want to go do old content again and maybe even convince my friends to join me.
  9. I think professions need to play a major part in all of this. If there isn’t a new profession in housing item crafting, then we need a large chunk spread as equally as possible amongst the different professions. I’d love to see the secondary profs get just as much love as main professions here as well. This could partially be met for both 8. and 9. by having old dungeons drop recipes to items that are found in them (or split of items and recipes) that you then need have the specific expansion’s profession skilled leveled up to craft. Or have components of a given craft drop from the dungeon. Want to make a skull chair? well go clear out the dungeon you found recipe in twice and collect that many skulls!
  10. We saw Onyxia’s head on the wall in the trailer. I think this is a great option if we get it. But my inner collector wants the option of something a bit. Grander. Grindier. And I think this specific wish fits more in line with a guild hall than a class hall. but I would love for both to exist, and both have this option. If we follow 4. and have specified “areas” I’d love to be able to set up a trophy hall. Maybe the requirement for it is clearing X many unique raids? or Just X many “boss” kills. But it’s an EXPANSIVE space. Because I want you to be able to mount, and displayed, every single boss monster’s trophy in all of wow. I want every dungeon boss. Every raid boss. Maybe even some quest monster’s trophies as well. It would be great if it had some way to display progress for a given section as well. Someone walks up to your trophy hall and see’s that you’ve cleared all 54 dungeons bosses from the burning crusade. This could be either spaces out to be a hall with hundreds of podiums etc, or maybe you have wings per expac and then rooms per instance etc. Maybe rooms per expac with alcoves per instance. Walk into the burning crusade room and you can tell at a glance that it’s bursting at the seems with dungeon boss trophies and maybe slots for loot from the specific dungeon. See the center of the room Illidan’s horns with the twin blades resting against them. Being able to display some of my accomplishments from 15+ years of wow would be awesome. But having the option to show off all 15+ years would be beyond perfect.
  11. Meta achievement rewards out the wazoo  Something I forgot about until writing this post, statues in the garrison. I would love meta achieve rewards that go and check out old metas as well and update for us. Stuff like “total bosses killed” etc. Having statues we can throw around to show off how much we’ve played this game would be really cool. Sometimes I still think about going back and putting in more time for that 500 pet battles in WoD statue.
  12. The last and I think most important thing I think for me will be that there is some sort of non-time gated progression for housing. Something that is just “do enough content towards house and unlock more house”. That can be on the quicker side, like unlocking the island over the course of a questline, all the way to having to go out and find a hidden rock in every zone ever just so you can craft a mural of Thrall which then unlockes a 30 quest long questchain that gives you a 1/300 chance that when you zone into your house the painting also summons Thrall and he says hi to you before heading back out via a flightpath.

It would be really to have all the scope creep listed above. But I really just want housing to be something I can sink my teeth into and just get lost unlocking and customizing for a long time. A reason to shout in Gchat, send a SS in discord showing off a cool thing, and a reason to want to log in every day again.

Thanks,
Koraddin the Algari Blacksmith

I can put you at ease a bit:
From a recent interview Ion said:
"Garrisons were intended to have Player Power attached to them, which “could distort gameplay more broadly.” Player Housing “is not a player power feature”.

So no player power and:
“Player Housing is an evergreen feature intended to be expanded throughout patches and expansions.”
So happy it will be longer than 1 addon x)
