In Wildstar there was a bed called the Granok Bed (rock race of people), no joke it not only had clothes hanging on it (which included a bra) but it also had a camera on it…pointing TO the bed…
100% this. According to the infographics, we are getting player housing in winter of 2025 and we already know that we’re not supposed to get it until the launch of midnight. That said I think We will get it in a prep patch in early December and then at the stroke of midnight on December 31, 2025. The new expansion will launch making it playable January 1, 2026.
so that gives us about one year to get our feedback in before it gets finalized and goes live in December
I honestly do not care about the specifics as much as I care about the main framework.
I do not want housing to be a limited resource like in FFXIV. I don’t want to have to enter a lottery or make a mad dash to obtain one of a limited number of plots.
I did that in FFXIV and while I did get the exact plot that I wanted, it still really sucked and I had a lot of people pestering me and asking if I would sell it. And you know what? I felt bad! I wanted those people to be able to have a house that they loved too! Never liked the F you, got mine vibe of it.
So I want WoW’s to be instanced. Whether it’s a shared entrance similar to ESO’s houses or its own area accessed via social menus.
When it comes to housing, I don’t super care if other people can visit or not. I want a house for my own enjoyment and as a place to relax. In FFXIV I spent most of my idle time or time in queues in my house because it was quiet and I hated all the random crap going on in hub cities.
So yeah. Everyone should be able to have one. That’s my main sticking point.
I’m almost 100% sure that WoW’s will be instanced, phased, or whatever is needed to let everyone have their own. They already managed to have it work quite smoothly with garrisons.
As someone who was tethered to their house in FFXIV for several years for fear of losing it… It felt like it was a way to hold my sub ransom.
Yoshi P famously goes on about wanting a “neighborhood feel” as the reason the devs won’t go the instanced housing route that players have been asking for as a solution to the artificial scarcity for years.
Despite people proving time and time again that the “neighborhood” aspect is basically nonexistent and absolutely not worth locking the majority of the player base out over time and time again.
I played from late ARR to Endwalker and in my time in various FCs (Guilds) and personal homes across multiple wards and locations, the idea of walk-up encounters with your “neighbors” never manifested in any meaningful way.
Aside from my own nonsense, the housing ward chat was always dead and I seldom saw another soul at the vendors or hubs in the residential areas despite living in full wards.
Absolutely not worth excluding so many people over.
I honestly did not care if anyone else could visit my house or not–I didn’t buy it and furnish it for them. I did that for me.
So yeah, the scarcity was and is a load of BS designed to ball and chain anyone “lucky” enough to have a plot to their monthly sub.
A good example of a developer losing sight of the purpose of the game. They view the game as their creation, something that others should behold like a piece of art, rather than being about creating an enjoyable experience for players.
If we can unlock decorations from gameplay achievements, give us a special blinged out version for doing the harder difficulty (IE: picture for clearing the raid on normal+, but give it fancy boarders for aotc/ce).
Everyone takes this as a critique. Chasing down PH suggestions in numerous scattered posts all over GD for the next 6mos or however long it takes before they start having previews about this stuff, would be a lot easier if there was a subforum only for PH discussion.
Everyone harps on me for this suggestion because you all took it wrong lol.
But I guess that’s the CMs’ problem pouring through all these posts.
This would probably be the most indirect way of going about it, as it would be gathered by forum CMS, then sent through a few channels to the developers. One has to wonder, what path would it take to them if they did a Bnet poll?
They could fix neighborhoods fairly easily, but they don’t have the motivation to do so for whatever reason. Wards could be uncapped (no idea why they keep the number artificially limited), fill them up as player buy houses, give players the option of relocating their housing plot to an identical position in another ward, or cash in their plot for gil so they could reinvest it in another house. That way you could form a neighborhood based around your friends/free company (guild)/highly active wards. Inactive houses don’t need to be demolished but instead could be relocated to temporary wards until the player returns. FFXIV is the only game that has so many limitations among the dozen or two I’ve played with player housing, and it’s all unnecessary.
Neighborhoods can add a lot to housing systems IMO but only when they’re well executed. Being able to choose who you live near is one factor. Being able to have a house at all is another…
I want… the most garish vase you can find! I’ll use it as a centerpiece, and make it plastic so when the cat shoves it off the pedestal it bounces off the walls!
I believe, they way the whole warband thing is going, they will combine all learnt profs across your characters, and add them to your house that all characters can use.
account bound professions.
or i’d like to see this added.
