Whats with the massive gear gap in BGs?

i don’t think you’ll find many solo-queuers who outright dislike all premades. but there are plenty of problems with premades, but the big thing is people getting farmed by premades. it absolutely sucks to get into a bg where you have no chance of winning, and have that fact rubbed into your face for 20 minutes.

I believe that’s why there is a boom in twinking. With no PvP gear vendors people are turning to twinking because there is a peak you can reach gear wise. So instead of playing lvl 120 PvP people are off playing in a different bracket where the gear has a pinnacle; they collect it and then it’s all spamming bgs from there. Essentially the carrot on the stick is the next queue popping and hitting join queue.

120’s carrot on the stick is gear and rating, whereas it should be only rating. When rating is the only carrot on a stick; those who don’t enjoy rated can go off into randoms and fight on solidarity of knowing they are all the same ilvl and those who want rating can go off and achieve rating.

This typically only happens when there is a full geared premade on one side and only solo queues or a poor premade on the other side.

When it does happen it’s typically horde stomping the crap out of alliance, but there are some strong alliance premades out there that we run across as well.

nope, the boom is because they got rid of the segregated twink brackets. when it was only twinks vs twinks a lot of people quit twinking. why? because dispite all the excuses or reasons posted by people, twinking has always been about pwning noobs with an unfair advantage. when those players couldn’t do that, they stopped, now that they can again, twinking is back.

Most people solo queue.

Solo queueing is what random battlegrounds are designed for. Group queueing is what rated PVP is for. Group queueing into random battlegrounds is for people who want to group with friends, but aren’t up to rated yet.

And why are you bringing up group queueing in a thread about gear? That sounds like it’s the group queuers who have chips on their shoulders, not solo queuers.

Casual Battlegrounds are for casual group oriented PvP

Rated is to earn a rating based on your performance, and having that performance compared to others who desire the same.

I bring it up because it became part of the current conversation. Follow along, will you?

Can’t use logic on these kids, Yarrow.

What’s the point? You’ll still get 340 or less gear.

No, on the contrary. I want to earn my gear without having to carry lackluster players. I work my a$$ off in any BG I am in and the very rare chance I find someone to do 2s/3s with.

My point is I work hard for every win, but there’s always 1/2 the alliance running around like idiots, not understanding objectives and causing us to lose (badly) in at least 75% of the matches I am in.

What I am asking for is individual rewards for people who actually give a sh*t about winning.

You need to tell us where we can find those 25 person PVP maps.

If you work your butt off in a job that pays minimum wage (random bgs), don’t expect anything more than that when the paycheck comes in.

You play hard and try to win, i get it. But you are still trying to do it in the “noob bracket”, that takes all comers if they hit the Q button.

If you want accolades for your effort, you all ready know what to do --> rated.

Not as easy as you make it out to be to get into rated BGs. I also DO work my butt off at work which is why I have a high paying job. I worked hard to get to where I am now.

All I am asking is if there’s a group of people like me (and I am sure there are) who do not have all weekend and/or all day to find a group of people do to do rated or even 2s/3s, then they shouldn’t be punished.

That’s why I am saying “individual rewards” (besides Conquest points) and the ability to BUY the PVP gear we need would suffice the entire range of Blizz’s players.

Too many people think it’s “super easy” to go find regular players, all on at the same time/date to put together rated BGs or 2s/3s. Makes a huge assumption that a lot of people don’t have a life outside wow.

I guess I am a rare breed.

Actually, for every person that’s above average in rated, there’s a person below average. That’s how rated works.

Now, I can understand giving the highest rated people higher ilvl items, like Mythic raiders get higher ilvl than Heroic raiders. However, rated being worth more Conquest as well seems like double dipping.

Rated should get higher ilvl items, or more Conquest, not both.

@Yarrow, what do you do about Random BGs though?

Easy to find players.
Way unequal gear.
Some Horde play in groups.
Why should people in Randoms get less gear than rated?

This is my flag-wave for individual achievements so I can play on the same level as people who PVE’d to dominate PVP.

Because when that’s done Randoms end up with 10 to 15% AFKs in each BG group leaching for the gear?

Right so they get nothing. But if you win and blizz can tell who is trying and who is trying to be carried, you should get more points. There’s a sort of process (capping flags, bases, etc) but some of us have to focus healers and peel ours. We get crap rewards for that.

I’ve actually had a random BG item titanforge up to 375.

Regardless, it’s pretty easy to get 360 item level by doing the conquest cap, world bosses and warfront quests alone.

Warfront? Must be a PVE thing. Capping conquest takes a full week. Rated/2s/3s you can gear up quick. But you have to be able to find regular players and time (which is hard).

Never had anything from a BG drop higher than 340. The 355 gear I have came from random 2s/3s players.

If you aren’t putting in the extremely minimal effort to get 370s from the warfronts, then you really can’t be griping about item level. IMO, of course.
