What's stopping other races from joining the Illidari?

No one wants to “Sacrifice everything” for a threat that isn’t present atm.

Furthermore, yes illidans army included more than just the Night Elf and Blood elf demon hunters, but none of them WERE demon hunters, just more but separate forces to help him meet his goals.

Show me the difference:

Demoniacs are Zandalari trolls who take dealing with demons one step further than conventional warlocks. Through an ancient and arcane ritual, demoniacs allow a demon to enter their being. Rather than let it possess them though, they enslave the demon from the inside, absorbing the power of the beast for their own command. It is a feat few are ever able to master

And:

The training begins with the person slaying a demon, eating its heart, and drinking its blood. The spirit of the ingested demon bonds with them and from this bond the demon hunter receives visions of the Burning Legion destroying countless worlds across the universe

They both “eat” a demon and get it’s power. That’s a DH.

My point is since they are part of the Illidari already, their starter zone can be the why and how the eredar became Demon Hunters.

If that’s good enough for Tauren paladins, sounds good enough for Zandalari DH.

Though my first choice for a new Horde DH race will always be orc. Give us the red skins for orcs and draenei bliz

The difference is, demoniacs were casters and magical based through and through.

They approached creation in a similar way certainly. But they’re not at all the same mechanic wise or how they harness said demons. Yet again, they’re just warlocks with metamorphosis.

Demon hunters are very combat oriented, fast and hard hitting close engagement, whos only purpose is said combating of THE LEGION. Outside of taking in their initial demon to being the transitions and what else they have to do in order to give up to attain, not to mention the training. They have zero interest in any demonic practices beyond that and vehemently seek to destroy anything related.

Demon hunters are lastly imbued with purely fel magic and whatever else illidan pumped into them, its not the same creation either.

Its not good enough by a mile. Tauren paladins are a stain on everything logical and nonsensical, Sun god my behind.

No, its not good enough, and paladins and demon hunter creation are wildly different as is their ultimate purpose and goals. Stop trying to fit things they simply do not fit.

They’d fit just fine. You just have a limited imagination.

DH desperately need some new races available to them. Twisting some story to make it happen is perfectly acceptable.

No and no. Homogenization is boring and if the majority actually wanted it done, it’d have been already. We don’t.

Its not a lack of imagination, its a purely appreciation for logic and cultural fantasy. I know you sit in the camp that things everything should be playable by everyone, but thats not an in game reality.

Things do sometimes have to make sense while having a strong foundation of background and there is nothing wrong with that, tough concept i know.

Wrong, actually. But I support the story and world moving forward where it makes sense.

Sorry you can’t handle change.

An elf and elf DH is boring and lacks imagination.

If you support the story, then you should be perfectly fine to agree with the fact that creating new demon hunters, while also impossible because as stated neither the legion nor illidan are around to do so, there’s also no need for folks to undergo such a process and greatly exacting trial because the legion is dead, and there isn’t a need for more demon hunters.

Change is fine, change for the sake of change is not fine. There you go.

Its literally the definition of imagination. Fantasy.

There are reasons why illidan would not even train other races to become demon hunters, why they were suited to the change and lifestyle that it is to begin with.

“You only like this thing if you agree with me completely” go kick rocks.

Classes are not homogenous. There are Elune priests and Loa priests and their class mechanics work the same despite being vastly different power sources and cultures. There are paladins that get their juice from a loa, Naaru, praying really hard, and the actual sun.

There can be different kinds of demon hunters. Get over it.

Yet again, the process of becoming a priest or paladin is varied, but much less strenuous and life altering than it is to become a demon hunter. Not to mention how its literally life altering in the most serious way possible. There is a single way to become a true demon hunter.

Like, they’re not comparable in nearly any way.

PS, several of those justifications don’t even make sense, but they’re not so egregious and mind boggling to actually set off a major issue, DH would.

A troll and eredar can handle the stress of that and we know this from lore.

To answer your title question…

The Need to Have a Band-Aid to Pull Out For a PR Move.

They know opening classes up to new races is a almost always a big win with the player base so they usually reserve it for hype or damage control.

There are no troll demon hunters, again demoniacs are not demon hunters, not to mention they never went any further than ZG. Eredar have essentially removed themselves from the Draenei, and some went to the legion themselves, thats not so outlandish as to be impossible, but rare as heck.

Illidan only wanted to ever train elves, and thats it.

Orcs and Eredar were mortals inundated with fel energy, sometimes without their consent. With the Legion gone and the various demon races scattered to the winds, some of them approach the Illidari, the resident experts on dealing with self-contained fel entities, and ask for help. The Illidari only know one way to contain that kind of fel energy without exploding, and that’s becoming half-demon yourself.

Voila, new demon hunters. Took me five minutes. Put in a scenario and it’s done.

Eredar are just a race. Draenei are eredar. You’re talking about the man’ari.

They are similar and it’s lore that they did absorb the power of a demon. And just because Blizzard sat aside some lore doesn’t mean they can’t pick it back up.

They do not have the power to bestow the fel magic, nor do they know how to manage the process like illidan.

2/3 died from the transition alone. He also declared no other races were capable of even handling such a monumental change and intake of power and fel energy.

Viola, perfectly sound and logical reasoning, as to why, no not everyone can be a demon hunter and let it go it won’t happen.
