What's epic about 20 man raids?

Its still not fun or engaging. BWL trash is 100x better. Just replace those packs with something funner. I feel like for the entire raid thats not that big of an ask

I’ve only done the 40 man naxx, but those I raid with that have done the 25, 10 man version say it is so much easier there is no comparison to the real 40 man naxx.

Molten Core was cleared on day 4 of Classic by a raid that wasn’t even level cap. There’s nothing difficult about Classic raids at all beyond not falling asleep at the wheel. Nevermind that “difficulty” doesn’t necessarily equate to “fun” anyway

Besides, after the reception BFD got from the Classic purists about how it was “way too hard” and “straight out of retail” I’m not inclined to take their word on actual difficulty to begin with. It speaks volumes that Ragnaros, the final boss of Molten Core, is less mechanically involved than a random water elemental as the first boss of a level 25 leveling raid

Nobody said the raids are hard for people who know how to play. Yet to this day, plenty of players struggle to clear naxx.

The raids are fun because they feel epic, everyone has an important role, and often mistakes will cause wipes.

No player that clears 40 man naxx thought anything in SoD was difficult. It was so much easier than every single vanilla raid.

But it isn’t about difficulty it is about making content with consequences, trash that can kill raids, wipes that cause long run backs, not easy rez and teleport back to where you were like nothing happened.

Also to do rag with a group of undegeared 58-60s, people are funneling items to tanks, getting buff from another instance, etc. it isn’t some SoD casuals who keyboard turn and get hit by every mechanic.

Mess up a rag mechanic and you are dead. Not that they are hard to fail on, but people constantly do.

Considering none of them are tuned the same it’s not a valid comparison.

In Cata when 10 and 25 mans were tuned the same I found it a wash as to which size was more enjoyable/epic/whatever.

20 man is more than enough for that to be true. Actually for virtually fights so is 10 man.

I’ve never felt anything epic in a 10 or 20 man, there’s just too few things that can go wrong and too few people to feel like we are a real force.

There’s exactly the same number of things that can go wrong. There’s just more people that can go wrong, but that’s not epic that’s just herding cats.

You can even make the argument 40 mans are less epic because each person matter less most of the time.

But they don’t - the most common mistakes (pulling extra stuff because you stood in wrong place) will wipe all 40 people.

If someone is making one critical mistake every 40 raids, then every 40 man will have about one mistake per run, but only 1 in 4 10 man will have a critical mistake.

same. I love me some good trash :expressionless: you can think of them as a boss all their own, since they tend to have their own loot table of cool items.

This is your opinion, and it is not shared by many :expressionless:

/shrug it seems quite a lot of people are happy with 20 mans over 40 mans based on the replies in the announcement.

But yes “epicness” is entirely subjective.

I saw a lot more people upset that it was going from 10 to 20, lol :expressionless:

Going from 10 to 20 allows the non-meta specs to have an easier time getting into groups, why do people not like this? I’m really tired of the “bring the class, not the player”

which one had the RWF?

Those raids were always considered second class, yeah

SoD MC20 will be ‘more challenging’ than SoD MC40.
Unless the Dev team wants to increase the health of trash by 50% and double the health of bosses.

a 40-man raid ready to pull the first pair of Core Giants was pretty k-rad back in Q2 2005.
in #TheCurrentYear, not so much.

Over my dead raid
