What would make you quit WoW

One of the biggest reason I’ve stuck around is how much I loved the lore, as shoddy as it was in some places, but they’ve completely and irreparably shattered that, so if the next expac isn’t good on gameplay I’ve got no reason to be here.

Going to wait and see on that one, but BfA being followed by this travesty, and the ghost town of the “community council” forums doesn’t exactly inspire hope.
(Still gonna play Wrath classic when it inevitably shows up, unless they ruin that too.)

If I’m unfortunately right in my pessimism, and the next expac is bad too, I’m gonna jump ship to FF14.
Certainly doesn’t grab me as much as good WoW does, but the bit I’ve played so far has convinced me it’s enough to sate the MMO cravings. Also seems to be headed by people that actually give a damn, and we can’t even get a fraction of that here, so that’s a plus. Wish it had Pandaren tho.

I think this is the first year I didn’t even log in for the anniversary, brew fest, hallows end or winter veil… I just have no desire to play. Shadowlands just proved they are out of touch and incompetent.

Honestly, the versions of WoW Classic have sort of made me realize my general disdain for Retail. I’m one that appreciates the process more than the end result, so I adore a more challenging leveling experience. I log into Retail, and it feels like god mode. My warrior got through the story without dying, level 60 without any trials, and then hit end game like a brick wall because the rotation was clunky.

If there’s no substance in between, and even the end result is half baked, what is there? Note, this was at the beginning of the expansion though. I since switched to another main for Retail, but this is how I felt on my warrior, who I’ve had since '04.

EDIT: I’d quit Retail entirely if I had more time for Classic SoM.

Truthfully, I don’t want to quit WOW, but over the past few expansions, the game has started to feel more like a chore than a form of enjoyment. I played for about a month a in BFA and recently a week in Shadowlands, but I consider myself to have already quit. I don’t log in with excitement any more. I log in to see if the game feels fun again.

I want to be honest that I cannot put my finger on exactly why the game feels more like a chore now. It could be a combination of changes in the game and in my personal life, but I just don’t feel like I can ever keep up.

This is my 3rd month playing SL and with everything I’ve seen about 9.2, especially having to earn flying TWICE in one expansion, I doubt I’ll be back. I’ll keep my eye on 10.0 but honestly I’m expecting more of the same from these second rate devs.

I’d LOVE to play wow like I used to but I doubt that’ll ever happen as long as Ion and crew are in control.

Playing a boring game that you get maxx level then have to grind everything with very little reward if any and feeling like I am working not having fun…

Considering how rampant gold selling/boosting is, i am starting to think blizz i watching some of these big groups and noticing that the large community boosters are raking in real money. blizz is all about micro trans now…so i guess if blizz were to roll out a new ‘system’ to cash in even more on boosts/gold selling, that will be it for me. just imagine this: ‘pro’ players trying out to be in an official wow boost program…yikes…would go hand in hand with their e-sport bs too =/

When I complete everything I want to do up to and including Legion and all the vanilla content in BCC.

I’ve already quit WoW twice before, for the following reasons:

  1. I was in the original WoW Beta in 2004 and played Paladin. I have always played Paladins in every fantasy game that has them - it’s my favorite class concept of all time. The last round of beta revisions to Paladin just ruined the class completely. It made me so mad that I quit the beta and didn’t buy the game until halfway through Wrath of the Lich King, when a friend of mine assured me Paladins we’re good.

  2. Just a few days after Mists of Pandaria came out, I was leveling my Alliance druid. I really despised the panda theme, but I still wanted to give the expansion a shot. A few quests into the first zone, a panda gave me quests to do chores in his house. I stopped and asked myself, “Why am I paying $15 a month to have a stupid panda make me do stupid chores in his stupid house?!?” I immediately logged out and canceled my sub.

So I guess the answer is if Blizzard does something that makes me mad I’ll stop playing. These days I mainly just focus on the parts of the game I like and ignore the rest, so I’m not sure what would make me that mad now.

Wow! Such an incredible take.

No one realizes they didn’t want to play when they quit!

Amazing! Really, hats off to you and this brilliant addition to the discussion.

The thread ended right then and there. You did it. You won the forums.

What are you gonna do next?

Probably when the game ends. I have been here since the beginning and take breaks when I get bored. I always come back though.

Activision Blizzard is counting on those addicted persons.

Two really bad expansions in a row. And here we are. Sub expires in a few more days.

Loose my arms to some disease or accident.
Loss of my eyesight because of diabetes. This is actually starting to happen.
My death. Probably coming sooner rather than later. Yep, I am sick.

No you cannot have my gold. Some low level will eventually get it.

If Blizzard does what i have seen people ask for, remove faction divide, let any race be in any faction i will quit, the game will lose it identity, it would no longer be world of warcraft, so i will unsubscribe and not look back

If, in some way, they wreck my spec (VDH) that would definitely do it.

Free to play

I think my thin line in the sand is all this cosmic crap.

The line is really fuzzy but Blizz keeps racing to cross it.

First Midare and now you. :frowning:

My favorite forum people are all leaving.
