I haven’t played in two months, I logged in this week and I just had no desire to do anything. This game is so heavily designed around dungeon play and Mythic + and its terrible. I used to enjoy the raids, but lack of content just makes this boring. I canceled my sub this week. I have been playing other games, new world and ffxiv and both of them have so many things you can do right now. If wow was on a better patch schedule for major content, like every three months, I would seriously come back to play, but this drought is just pathetic for such a major company like blizz.
Shadowlands went too far from the heroic environment we relate to in comparison to previous expansions. Even the hated ones had some substance. The game had historic heroes to keep the lore exciting. It’s just another generic game now. Very disappointed. Sylvanas vs Lich King, should have never happened. Utterly ridiculous. It’s sloppy now. Like they’re copying and pasting silly ideas from a well of “Oh maybe let’s try this.” Newbie storytellers. They need new talent at Blizzard. Something different, intriguing. It’s the $16.95 monthly sub they’re hungry for. It keeps the shareholders interested.
And tons of game to play. I’ve been having a blast just seeing the low-level quests and experiencing the earliest parts of the story. I made an Archer, and I’m already more invested in my two guildmates who go out on missions with me than I’ve been in a character in WoW since WoD (and my investment in Kargath was completely deflated right after it had formed)
Deleted all of my toons on retail except for my hunter that I haven’t played since MoP. Weird thing is, this game is missing the quality that makes it so lovable that deleting everything fails to hit any emotion. There were a few happy people as I tossed around my gold to whoever was around.
Like bruh, what have they done to this game that I absolutely feel nothing for it and just deleted all of my toons (/played 100+ days) for the heck of it? I’m not buying any more retail expansions, put that in your wow token pipe and smoke it.
Remember the most ridiculously bad times in life that WoW was around for as a crutch? Now the insanely bad times roll around and WoW is just trying to suck you dry with the wow token gameplay.
Mage Tower is going to make me quit. Already canceled my subscription actually, since I’m pretty sure they won’t listen to their player base.
I cancelled mine an hour ago. 16 years of WOW and c’est la vie.
Hard to imagine quitting this game. Just timed a +3 while listening to chief keef and making jokes about cleavage because I was in fury spec😩 a ton of complaints about the game though. At times I wish there was more open world and role playing elements to the game but it’s either this of FF14 and that’s not my style, at least for now.
Wait, if they don’t bring back Bannerbae… Flappygirl… whatever the community decided on. I might be tempted to leave.
It’s called a “quit moment”. Everybody who quits a game after something happens that makes them decide they’re through has them.
I feel like Blizzard might be taking notes in this thread. But would they be looking for things not to do that are causing people to leave, or for things they can use to annoy people more effectively?
I’m drawing the line at cat girls. Bunny ears at Easter time is livable because it’s limited. I have no problem with Vulpera or Worgen or Druids. But cat girls are my line in the sand.
The end of Shadowlands, probably.
I like raiding, but everything else around it seems like garbage, and there’s so many mandatory grinds attached to Mythic raiding now that it’s just sickening. There’s other things I want to do than play WoW all of the time to just do one piece of content in it. But it’s hard to look at the future when the community at large keeps asking for these grind walls. They had them in the beloved Legion expansion, and then it got doubled down on in BFA. And now that players are starting to say BFA was better than SL–which toned down some of the grinding–we’re just going to get it badly again in the next expansion.
The Mage Tower is a shining example of staggering “WTF” decisions for the balance. For some reason it got coupled with Timewalking instead of making templates for it, so it’s just been a clown fiesta of balance since launch. Aside from the incredibly disparate balance, the Xylem encounter in particular is bugged to hell and back.
Anyway. The future of WoW looks like the same state of oblivious mediocrity as the past, and we’re just going through the motions in the cycle.
I mean Shadowlands kind of did for me… I haven’t really played much since a bit after 9.0 and even with 9.1 “fixing” the covenant issues I still have very little desire to no desire to play.
So at this moment in time, I have no intention to return while Shadowlands is ongoing. 10.0 maybe? But Shadowlands I’m done with entirely.
I mean heck, I’m so not into WoW right now… I’m actively playing a different MMO something that I would’ve said was impossible a year or two ago while WoW was still a thing.
sad Nyaas
-I lose my income and become cripplingly poor.
-Blizz shuts down servers.
-I lose the ability to use my hands or feet to productively play.
-I move to a remote area where I cannot get good internet.
-I grow tired of the game and lose all my friends.
-A new and better version of WoW comes out that creates a new addiction.
There’s more I’m sure but those are the short list off the top of my head.
the servers shutting down would be a very likely reason.
Basically when TBC classic ends, i’m only still around to settle some unfinished business from my childhood.
There is nothing i believe the current team can do to pull themselves out of this hole. They are out of touch, egotistical and attempting to establish their own legacy separate from Metzen and the OG team. And from what i can see i believe it is being done out of sheer jealousy or resentment.
I don’t know what the real story is, i probably wont ever know, maybe Joe Rogan will have Metzen on one day to tell us what really went down, but all i actually know is that retail has no actual emotional or logical substance to it compared to the first 5 expansions.
I feel like that with every game nowadays. I paid for the full game, shouldn’t have to pay monthly. They also have microtransactions on their store which is a great alternative in a lot of games to a monthly sub since they can put in cool items and get their money that way from players.
mage tower indeed
Honestly, it would take a lot to make me quit FOREVER. Like the removal of elves or extreme real life circumstances. If you mean like take a break, then yeah, I already do that when I get bored. Come back after a few months and all is good again
it would take a lot. i really love the game, and most people i end up playing with.
if they continue to ignore player feedback and not change the direction of the game as in some of the hot topics (especially issues like flying/pathfinder types of systems and borrowed power polluted end games) it could kind of ruin it for me after a while.
the other thing is if the staff become super nasty to players…idk what it is, but it’s just a huge turnoff when that happens…I hope they truly want to be the best part of our days/lives as game devs/staff…
