Arenas might actually be the biggest change, because in 2007 they were new and people were just figuring them out. All the years of figuring out the optimal pillar-humping will now apply to that from the first day. The moment there’s any announcement of which patch talents and itemization will be based on, all sorts of simming will work out the few min/max comps to pick from.
Given Blizzard finding a way to even pull off an esports thing for WOW Classic (thankfully it is mostly external using the wargames thing), what can we expect when it comes to Arena seasons? Were those a thing in TBC with different rewards? How will that play out? Will the rewards recycle? Will they cave and add new ones to maintain player engagement? What will arena-focused players ask for (demand)?
PvE doesn’t really feel like there will be much to ruin. It will be crowded, there will be masses over-farming the same spots, there will be bots doing the quick dungeon chest runs.
Maybe we’ll see abuses of bugs in the Guild Bank system of that time period that were fixed later. We will undoubtedly have summoning stones. Blizzard isn’t likely to add Wrath’s Dungeon Finder or barber shop or transmog (which xpac that was) or collections, and players whining for them on the forums isn’t going to ruin the game.
Of course, the whole premise of this is meta gaming and player choices ruining WOW Classic, and for someone like me who doesn’t game with that crowd and makes different choices in realms it is not ruined. I see a similar result in TBC - the streamer servers and the mega servers will find ways to turn the game topsy-turvy, but most servers will just get on with their entertainment.
depends on the realm balance really. for my server alliance side is gonna be literal hell in hellfire. I mean we are talking like TBC is coming and it hasn’t been announced yet. So this whole post is a hypothetical.
There is a trick thou and that is to go straight to zangarmarsh as that is also a starter level zone.
This is related to something that will ruin the experience for many people.
Guild poaching will be insane in TBC. You’re going to have guild just get stuck on tier 4 cause whenever they gear up enough players they get poached by more progressed guilds. I think that will be even worse this time around.
Not at all, all the loot from 2.1 for example (Heroics) aren’t buffed we aren’t even countign the badge gear that got added with ZA / Sunwell etc. Nor Gems and so on epic ones and others. |
I mean if they want to PVP you’re going Stunherld hands down. THat stuff’s amazaing MORE SO that you can get it within week 1.
Eh paid server transfers were not in Vanilla, it’s good money i wouldn’t be suprised. Nor was phasing or layering etc. Only time could tell.
Sure, but everyone know how good world buffs and flask were. But WE ALL know you were not forced into having FULL world buffs consumes and sappers in a good chunk of guilds. The mind set is much different.
Yes and no. Prot pally Aoe is insame for exapme once you get a bit of gear a prot pally can pull the entirty of that top part of BT all those blood elves got a good chance to drop Arcane tomes for Scyer rep. Also not counting dungi’s. Open world wise, maybe yea it gets more hurt but not so much in dungi’s.

Also yes and no. none of the attuments are so out of the way or hard. (TK is a bit of a pain SMV questline Heroic Arc.) But none of it will force pouching no more then now. Classic is worse on poaching due to much larger raid sizes.

I was talking about the heroic gear being left the same, and the kara gear getting buffed. The badge gear drops on a schedule, when that content patch comes out, not immediately on release. Blizzard did the same kinda thing with classic so they will probly do that with the badge loot, its kinda a catch up mechanic in a way…
True, but we did have shaman in every group and drums were basically a staple of PVE in TBC.

yup, and why casual guilds will do just fine, there will be the uber groups that will go full max on everything, and they will be horde for PVE.
For PVP, really it does not matter for faction just that you either pick Undead or Human.
The issue is without attunements a guild can grab any 70 throw gear at them and bam, good to go. With attunements particularly to the degree they were in TBC requiring lower raid tiers that’s possible, so guilds are forced to recruit from a smaller pool of candidates.
Which leads to feeder guilds who basically end up with people not willing to guild hop but who end up attuning people who are.
That’ll happen anyway regardless. It does happen, ain’t notihng you can do about it. Attuments do add an extra layer of protection though. you gotta SORta ply the toon. I mean Hyjal attunment does force raiding as does SSC / BT

Yep! and Dragonstrike don’t forget those, macesmithing is nuts One thing is if they’re gonna make Primal Nethers (The heroic item.) and Primal Vortex. (The T5) raid item BOP or BOe both are needed to make em, sure it’s only trash kills but still.
Good point. another point is if Raids will have badges drop in them at start or Not, i think it was 2.3? or 2.2. ZA patch that allowed badge of justice to drop in raids. Heroic gear, if i recall was buffed no later on. But i def do remember kara gear getting tweaks at some point.
Honestly i’m not to sure. I remember shammy’s being some what rare. (Atleast on Kil’jaden / Trollbane. ) So you would onmrally get 2-3 for your dps groups and that’s it, and they ALWAYS wnated to play meele dps haha go figure.
While this is true, the prot pally’s are more so reflect dmg like they are now so they have more options for Aoe farmings while mages lose some not that i don’t mind. I think it’s just more info is out there now so more people are gonna be doing it like Selling boost etc is now mainstream and how that will impact the playerbase and markets.

Eh i don’t think so, anyone who doesn’t have loyalty is open game as is. People who are gonna betray there guilds are. I’d argue attunements are great since it makes people go back and help there raiders get em on alts or new guys to get em in there liek a help me help you. Same with helping guildies with Pre-raid. Which was a problem.
