What’s the problem with “LFG” addons?

Or you could just communicate with other players in chat to form a group. It’s not hard at all.

Ive been playing since early 2005. It was always VC to me. My old account got hacked and I made a new one in 2010. If I was home Id love to share some screenshots of Vanilla. Just because someone is calling it VC doesnt mean they didnt play Vanilla… Lol.

You’d be correct in your statement since Dire Maul was released in early 2005.

Also, think of it logically…we abbreviate every dungeon using its name except that one…

Like I said, I thought it was to avoid confusion with Dire Maul. I actually remember using DM when I first started playing and people would call me a noob and tell me that it was VC. I realized what all the VC spam was in general/trade then.

But if Deadmines is called VC, being named presumably after the last boss, why not call Molten Core “R”?

Of course it’s just having fun, but this spirited debate over what does DM mean, is part of classic! Just like Chuck Norris jokes and linking Thunderfury. An LFG tool just ruins the spirit.

I did find humor if how the OP unwittingly answered his/her own question, within the question itself!

See what you’ve done… :stuck_out_tongue:

Truth be told it was almost a year after release that I actually learned what VC meant. I never leveled alts and since I had leveled before Dire Maul. It was always DM to me. I was super confused when I started getting flamed one day when I was asking for a DM group as a lvl 15 rogue.

I dislike LFD system in general, No way it should be allowed in Classic. Not even addon.

Oh and BFA is that way ----------------------->

Majority of servers it was certainly VC. DM was used on some, sure. But just, stop.

So, while I agree that part of the fun of classic is in fact the pain of putting a group together, I will admit that there were addons to help mitigate this process.

I’m completely in favor of a system or addon that simply lets a player announce they are Looking For Group and to specify which dungeons they are looking for.

This enables players to see a pool of who is searching for what and to invite them. The alternative (aside from sitting in a city) is to spam /who and start messaging players. The old system had a cap on how many you could see in /who and given that these servers are going to be presumably larger, it may actually make it more difficult to track down what you need.

just my two cents on it. I don’t want a system like we currently have and I definitely do not want the dungeon queue system that currently exists in retail, but a system that gives me a list of candidates to talk to and choose from is acceptable.

Again, why on earth is every dungeon name abbreviated, but that one? Especially when Dire Maul was released post launch.

I’m not saying that it didn’t evolve into VC, but I am saying that DM did at one point = Deadmines.

Edit** batting 1000 today…

Its more like when it takes 2 hours to get people, you are gonna value them.

In BFA, due to LFD, people are expendable since its easy to find replacement and that is why there is no bonding over it.

LFG addons will put duds in your group. After you run enough dungeons with random groups you’ll quickly learn who you do and don’t want to group with. For example a tank that cant hold any threat on anything. Well they’re plentiful in classic, and a LFG addon will pick them up instantly.

It’s the difference between running your neighborhood and making friends organically, and having your mom take you to a prescheduled play date.

Blizzard gives you a friends list - use it.

Yep, they were wrong.

Explain to me how an original server launched and started calling Deadmines VC when Dire Maul didn’t exist. The answer is it didn’t and you’re lying or remembering incorrectly. Maybe they started calling it VC after Dire Maul release but I don’t believe you if you’re trying to tell me they did it before.

That being said those servers were never known for being cutting edge in terms of anything.

Also need you to explain why an original server would choose one instance and refer to it by the last boss and not a single other one prior to Dire Maul release?

I don’t understand how people get this confused. Deadmines is dm. Its always been dm. Itll always be dm.

If you advertise deadmines as a vc run, you’d better be at vancleef ready to pull.

Having played since launch and still be active is seen as somewhat of a badge of honor. This leads people to lying about their experience and how long they’ve been playing so they too can be part of the “original” crowd. It all falls apart though when they refer to DM as VC.

This is a crap response. Do better.

Because an addon that does this is really the only difference between retail and classic

Not saying I agree with OP, but the “if you disagree with x, go back to retail” argument is dumb and ridiculous. Make an actual point or scroll by.
