What is your favorite video game?

I enjoyed the heck out of modding and playing Skyrim but I would always run into the issue of my mods breaking my game and having to start over so I finally gave up.

I have a few choices! I really like Souls and Soulslike games. Elden Ring and Surge 2 come to mind.

RPG wise, Valkyrie Profile is one of my favorite RPGs of all time!

I also like roguelikes! And recently I’ve picked up Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, was a bit worried I’d hate it…But the game is a lot of fun!

Top 3:

Tales of Symphonia - Final Fantasy X-2 - Xenosaga.
Please for the love of God remaster Xenosaga or port it to Steam lol.

Um, right or if all time?

Right now - Total Warhammer Immortal Empires

All time….either Skyrim or Minecraft. Based on hours play, that is.

I go back and forth between Shadow of the Colossus and Dark Cloud 2. Shadow of the Colossus is easily one of the most atmospheric games to play. The massive, empty, haunting landscape and the feeling of being alone simply cannot be replicated.

Dark Cloud 2 is a comfortable game for me. I love its sound effects, its music, and the city-builder aspects. The leveling system is interesting and still one of the more unique RPG progression systems to this day.

I will say that I have been playing Yakuza recently and must admit that those games go HARD. I could definitely see it being up there as one of my favorites in due time.

alot of the snes and ps2 rpgs

secret of mana
Illusion of Gaia

4 Ultimate is so good! I genuinely feel bad for people who didn’t get into Monster Hunter until World because Generations, 3 Ultimate, and 4 Ultimate are all incredible experiences. World is great and all but I felt like it lacked the flair or monster variety we got in other games. Too many dragons, not enough bugs or fur-beasts.

Skyrim
It’s just so good on so many levels.

To be clear, you never quit Skyrim, you’re just taking a break until you pick it up again.

I’m nearing the end of Ragnarok. Really good game.

I have so many favorites, but if I had to pick one game, and that’s all I could play the rest of my life, it would be the original Zelda. But I’ll name a bunch of the games I’ve played over and over through the years that would be solid contenders for all-time favorite:

Kid Icarus, FF 3/6, FF 8, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Diablo 3, Borderlands 2, Mass Effect 2, Metroid, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Time, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2, Hades, and Fable 2.

If they hadn’t removed the store from Wii, I would’ve recommended that to you, because I have so many games like Seven Stars on there that the Switch doesn’t offer in their retro online services. Switch does have Nes, Snes, Genesis, and 64 games on there, and it’s $50 a year. Paper Mario and Mario 64 are on there, haven’t added Seven Stars yet.

The only other game I’ve been actively playing alongside WoW recently is Genshin Impact. Great game, imo—for what it is.

With that said, when I think of a game I loved… Jet Set Radio Future!

All Time: Romance of the Three Kingdoms II - later games had better mechanics and were more challenging. But it was the first time I ever played this type of game and I have fond memories.

Recently Played: WoW - I am enjoying DF

I don’t have one favorite, so I’ll have to break down my top picks by category.

Most conceptually and mechanically pleasing: City of Heroes: Homecoming. I really wish other MMOs (including this one) would adopt its customization options - not just for character appearance (and clothing!), but for the incredible diversity in “classes” (called Archetypes in the game). Plus, the loot system is pretty much drama-free by design. Guarantee nobody here will like it, though, even if they recognize it as a loot system.

Most actual playtime: It’s a tie between Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Mount & Blade: Warband.

Most go-to game for when I don’t know what I want to play: Civ V. Ironically, though, I couldn’t get into the latest crop of Civ-in-Space games. They all seem kind of bleh for one reason or another.
