Demonology warlocks are starving while greedy Shamans, WW monks, Hunters and Frost DKs steal all the patch notes
Seriously tho Demonology got so many updates so many times through all DF and in the TWW alpha that people are mad at the whole class now even tho Aff and Destro are loaded with issues and didn’t get meaningful dev attention until the alpha (lots of it is negative attention I might say).
I’m sure it’s hard not to be bitter if you’re a class that gets little to no attention only to see the same classes getting multiple reworks. I have no malice towards Warlock, Mages or other classes that get a lot of attention.
The failure rests squarely on Blizzards shoulders both in communication and execution.
I’m still bitter with my destro lock side gig for how Blizzard is doing so much to skirt around fixing our most glaring issues even now that they ARE making changes (seriously how hard is it to give us a single AoE skill baseline instead of creating a weird restructured hell with the skill tree to force us to path through Rain of Fire by just giving us no other option to grab the passive that it blocks???).
Can’t imagine how bad it feels for classes and specs with similar issues that are getting complete radio silence.
Shaman, who have been neglected for a very, very long time.
Just look at their outdated animations that persist even when there are plenty of new spell effects in the current expansion alone that could replace them. Even the Shaman class hall from back in Legion felt so rushed and incomplete. Then there’s Primordial Wave that, aside from a very small portion of the player base, most players hate, and I mean HATE, yet they keep pushing it. Then, looking at TWW uninspired Shaman hero specs…the class just honestly feels like a joke, and Blizzard doesn’t even try to hide it anymore. It really is tragic.
Primordial Wave is the dumbest thing I’ve seen since that abilities they gave BDK to pull trash mobs with, that has a really slow missile and does nothing.
You get the slow missile Primordial, wait for it to land, then you need to hard cast a very slow heal right after that. Lmao. Who is designing this? Seriously.
I’m fine with hard casting as long as they hit for 1 million. Last time I was on Retail my Sham heals were critting for 800k, but that’s only with the old new tier set that they had to buff, why do you think the player base voted in that tierr set? It’s because it’s the best for hard casting.
Sure, I’ll hard cast, as long as stuff is hitting for 1 to 2 million. The devs can’t comprehend this though.
The fact that Resto hard casts it’s damage and it still is zero damage just tells you how abandoned this class is. Nothing has any reasoning or makes any sense, it’s just hard cast for zero damage and hope no one notices lol.
You know it is! 1/10 shamans reccomend! Honestly its just another flame shock lel. Our new hero talents are the same abilties we already have. Stormbringer is stormkeeper. Farseer is elemental mastery. Then we have a totem from wish
This is tough to point out as everyone got talent tree reworks in Dragonflight. But I will take it as a historical look as far as gameplay and class/spec functionality.
Class as a whole would be Death Knight. The three specs have felt like they have largely had the same playstyle, functionality and disfunctions for a while now. And even with the talent trees, their gameplay feels like it has not been iterated on or changed.
Shaman is pretty close. Enhance has gotten some changes, but Ele and Resto fall in the same boat as DK. They just dont feel that they have been adequately changed or iterated on. And there is the whole shaman raid buff issue.
Elemental Shaman is a woefully neglected spec. It is the only spec in the game without a raid buff or powerful raid cooldown. It has languished in this spot for expansions, where it isnt necessarily bad, but many other specs in the game do what ele shaman does, but they do it easier and better. There is just nothing ele shaman excels at, and no real reason to bring it to raid over any other dps.
Survival Hunter would be up there too. They just dont seem to know what they want the spec to do. It is a hodge podge of abilities, where some have synergy and others dont. They have a mastery that does not effect a large portion of their damage and is basically a useless stat. They had one season where a poorly designed tier set made them over powered. But, they still are in this place where it feels like no one knows what to do with the spec, so they just let it rot. On top of that, there is the neglect. Currently, it is BIS for them to wear last season’s tier set over current. Even sacrificing 10-15 ilvls as a whole, to wear last season over current, is better. It is an effective DPS loss to equip this seasons tier. And it has not been corrected yet.
Hunter or Paladin. You might be saying “whaaaa” as they are consistently among the most popular classes, and that’s WHY I believe they are often neglected for long periods of time. People will play Hunters and Paladins no matter what.
Look at current Survival. Look at Hunters before Legion reworked SV. They almost had one spec for years. They played SO samey, and Blizzard left them that way despite complaints because…people will play Hunters no matter what.
Look at Palis. Glorius Palis. Ret’s been an inconsistent mess until Dragonflight. Prot went from AoE tank, to brain - dead piano playing tank to a resourceless tank. Seriously Pali tanking in Legion and BfA felt like it belonged in a version of WoW a decade old. Press button that reduces damage by a % being 90% of the class was dreadful gameplay. But it doesn’t matter. Because Paladins are COOL.
