What is the REAL reason

i wish they would stop this gear matters things and sneaking in bonuseses etc like , cant we just have a vendor that sells equalized gear make it 2 diff sets of gear one casual and one for conquest . Remove the ranked rankings for upgrading gear and just let us upgrade each week further as we cap that weeks conquest . Just make ranked have higher conquest points liek in bfa . that way the gap wont be so huge in lvl and everyone can gear their alts also in a reasonable amount of time .

Maybe if pvp gearing didn’t require you to be a tryhard to gear up? Maybe if fresh players just starting rated pvp didn’t have to face full maxxed out teams? Maybe if the gear gap wasn’t so massive?

Not to nitpick, but there was also the “elite” set for the best of the best pvp players. But in essence, you are 100% correct and that system was amazing.

The elite set was cosmetic only outside of the weapons and even then it wasn’t that big of a deal.

That’s why I called it a “nitpick”

And vice versa.

When I talked to friends who had submitted novels (sf/fantasy) for publication, the phrase that came up a lot was “The publishers want the same, only different.”

I think that fits in WoW.

There is no one reason, just a lot of bad choices made by devs, choices that they thought players would get used to and come to accept.

Go back to the “glory days” when you could swear at anybody and tell them to kill themselves without consequences? Is that what you think made wow great?

Nope. They do exactly what they want to do without concern for the sensitive feelings of bullies who are upset that they get reported for swearing at other players. But it’s also without concern about whether the system will work to encourage participation.

Rank locked PvP gear was rejected in the past by devs who explained it was bad for PvP. The current devs took a chance on it and continue to double down on it regardless of how many players leave PvP or the game entirely, because they are laser focused on the ladder and can’t see PvP as a whole. They think they are misunderstood geniuses and time will prove them right, if only they don’t “cave” when faced with falling player population.

Implementing covenants involved taking a chance, especially the way they were originally intended, which was to lock low information players into their choice for the entire expansion and let them live with the unrecoverable mistakes they had made.

Devs need to stop trying to make things work that are really unlikely to work out. This is not their playground. It is not a vanity project. Without continued participation the ship will sink. There are plenty of resources out there where they can access research on what’s been proven to work without experimenting on the playerbase.

Players lack proper rewards to go outside or do PvP activities. They don’t excist. You can put on WM and go to STV to “gank” and there is nobody there. Nobody. Because its less effort to que dungeons than do quests in that area.

Now if there were quest to kill 10 allies on STV for XP and Honor which you could use on PROPER vendor when you level up etc. you would see people being in STV.

On top of that sharding and phasing is not working as intended. And people in charge don’t give a damn about it.

In BGs the most common complainer is telling people that they should have used some strategy that he didn’t even bother to suggest before that thing happened.

I once had a chicken who laid an egg…but how did the chicken get there in the first place?

I understand your point. Hindsight is wonderful. I still stand on the belief that players exhibiting bad behavior and drama are as much to blame for the death of PvP as poor Dev decisions and bad game design. Had this expansion been a bit more rounded, the bad behavior could be ignored. Alas, that is not the case.

…what the hell did you just say?

I said that carpet had me confused for a bit, “before the thing happened”. My premise was along the lines of “did we lose because you didn’t follow my barked commands, or did we lose because I was barking commands?”.

I did get his point, it just took re-reading the comment.
