It’s hard to say whats good about FF in 1 post alone.
Devs listen to the playerbase and don’t fight us.
Excellently well written, world-changing quests that will forever change Eorzia and how they you.
NO borrowed power in the main game(some side instances have powers you can use but its optional, or can be ignored entirely and only in that instance, not outside).
Refreshing experience with awesome well put together classes that feel enjoyable with their wholesome abilities.
Glamours(aka transmog) is x1000 better. You can be a gentlemen, a dude in a bunny suit, a knight covered fully for battle, cowboy, ect…nothing is impossible to make to look visually awesome, and you can apply the appearances for free, no cost.
To name a few…its just something you have to try and see for yourself.
You know…I managed to convince 2 FFXIV friends to try WoW, and they didn’t even get to lvl 20 before they quit and went back due to the poor quests interaction and slow leveling . You didn’t play the game enough to see how good it is, you have to go further then the first few levels to judge it properly. In the same way, my friends never saw why wow was great…your looking at FF14 with disdain and wow-tinted rose glasses looking for reasons to dislike it. It gets way better later on.
I am giving it a go and am currently a level 35 Black Mage.
I have to say there are WAY too many cutscenes… lots of story telling which I can get why some folks would like that, but in some instances they’re back to back to back and you just begin to want to skip it so you can play the actual game.
I’m not much for the aesthetic, but out of desperation for that MMO fix I am trying to push through it. They definitely put more thought into transmog and customization…
Combat is still painfully slow, but I think that’s because I chose a DPS powerhouse with larger cast times which may be better as I get gear that reduces cast speed. IDK we will see.
I can see why some people like it, but it’s definitely a challenge to stick to it at the moment.
I tried it for two weeks and decided it wasn’t for me, and rather regretted paying for it. I’ve never gone back since. I disliked the constant walls in relatively small zones, I found the story confusing, I didn’t like the graphic style, and I didn’t like the housing method. Admittedly I should have tried to find someone to guide me but I hoped that if I just jumped into it, it would be easy to pick up. I didn’t find it easy and I could not for the life of me locate any decent guides for absolute noobs. I found the fighting and movement clunky and the professions, while decent, difficult to figure out.
If you like the Asian style graphics and the systems of the game, that’s fine, everyone’s taste is different. If I had to go to another game, it would be ESO (which I played on and off for a fairly long time and liked a lot). I just didn’t have any real community or friends in ESO and there are bits of it that annoy me (like no central AH and the economy controlled by merchant guilds). I doubt I will ever find a game that has pleased me as much as WoW has at its best.
Game’s slow to start out, but the endgame is fun. Fights are designed around movement and coordination, as addons aren’t allowed due to the console players, the game’s designed that you won’t need a third party software to scream at you what to do. Rotations are generally longer, but due to pruning they can be really dull for some classes until later levels, like 50 beyond in some cases.
Most importantly, gearing isn’t a massive lottery. The game uses the old badge system WoW used to have, so even if you have horrendous luck you can work towards some sort of upgrade. After you get past the main story quests, the game respects your time a lot more than WoW does. If you work a full time job and have other interests, it’s certainly easier to stay competitive and geared.
I’ve heard this quite a lot. It’s painstakingly slow and painful trying to get to at least 50, where I hear things get better but I’m definitely sticking it out. I have the 30 days of game time, may as well as give it that effort!
If you can’t get past the catgirls to get to the story, then it’s just not gonna work out for you.
You have to approach the game like you would any other game in the Final Fantasy franchise. It’s a FF game first, raid/dungeon spam game second. They say that they are revamping PvP so… maybe add PvP to that latter part soon? Maybe?
I find it far more relaxing to play and easy to get lost in. WoW, not so much. I subscribe to both currently. I like my character to look cool too, and FF runs circles around WoW when it comes to character customization and transmog. The game also has a lot more features that contribute to it (and MMORPGs) being a social experience. Blizzard kinda left that part behind years ago. It also doesn’t feel like it’s designed to waste my time, which is nice. The game does have some timegates, but it’s far less heavy-handed than in WoW.
You have to buy a sub if you’ve ever bought the game or tried it before. Which I did long ago. Spoiler, didn’t like it then either. Figured, heck… been a long time, maybe my tastes have changed.
As long as you’re getting a small amount of fun out of it, it will be worth it. If you’re hating it and forcing yourself to play, it may not be. It’s still a MMO JRPG at the end of the day.
We all have different tastes, but an MMO, or any game for that matter, should hook you within the first hour, not the 20th hour. You shouldn’t have to grind to max level to “get to the good stuff.” If I no longer wish to play after about level 10 then I’m not bothering to go further. I don’t care what game it is.
Not really. I’d rather you have tried it with your bias and end up liking after giving it a real chance then paying money and end up not liking it after spending money.
What kind of world are you living in that someone wants to prove so bad their game is better that they’d pay money to try the other game just so they can prove it?
Lol you are legit crazy.
If I didn’t have an open mind, I wouldn’t have even bothered to try it again. Get over yourself dude.
