WoW was never a dark fantasy. It might’ve had some dark elements in it, but it wasn’t really dark.
You got anything further to add to that? you know, like something that hasn’t already been said multiple times?
If it needs to be reiterated multiple times, maybe there’s something to it that you’re missing.
I dunno what to tell you. Do some of the quests in and around Azj’kahet where corpses are used to birth a bunch of cave spiders and people get melted to death.
Oh man, I forgot about him LOL. Okay, yeah, that one, too. Pretty good stuff.
I said competitively, Warhammer online game didn’t even last before they shut down the servers, stop it
It doesnt need to be, just read up. Im simply remarking on the fact that others have listed examples and you didnt really say much of anything.
The scourge was super dark
the old gods as well
the legion
the forsaken
duskwood
gilneas
drustvar
gorgrond
nazmir
etc
I don’t think that I would describe any point of the Warcraft franchise as “gritty”.
Just 1 comment above yours fren. Theres some examples there.
I don’t really need to.
As I said, it had dark elements, but it wasn’t really dark as a setting.
Still been a “T for Teen” poop joke franchise since ‘94, “fren”.
WoW deals with alot or dark, grim, gritty subject matter. But the way it presents them is not always dark, grim, gritty. And it tends to ping-pong back and forth heavily on dark vs light topics.
It was dark and gritty because we were playing at trash resolutions.
Of course it was.
I could actually list almost every zone. It stops with DF.
The themes are all pretty damn dark. The only thing that lightens it up are the cute graphics, the easter eggs and some flat jokes.
Considering the Warhammer franchise is known for the whole “grimdark” thing and no shortage of truly messed up stuff in the setting… the rumour feels surprisingly believable, it would be appropriate for the setting.
Then again, the “daemonculaba” (if from 40k and definitely shock-value schlock) will likely NEVER be given an official image. Supposedly fanart exists, but you don’t want to see it.
Do NOT Google that.
/schmuckbait
… though I guess this whole topic does make you wonder if WoW players want the absurdly grimdark feel that is present in Warhammer. Or they think they’d like to see that, before finding out what’s actually in there.
Right, which is specifically why it’s not “gritty” despite the occasional delve into darker subjects.
Did you not notice the lava giants flaying and chopping up dragons?
Leave my mommy out of this.
Wow, lots of “I didn’t play it, but…” comments in here, lol.
A lot of people in this thread are confusing “gritty dark fantasy” with “when i was an emo teen Arthas was super edgy”
