This obscure MMO called Champions Online. Superhero MMO, great customization, but so little content. You could change your costume independent of gear, and you didn’t have to unlock the vast majority of the pieces. You could also completely customize your build. You could have a Fire mage mixed with a Shadow priest, it was great.
Downside, though, the max level is only 40, and has been 40 since launch. It was a small little thing I could cherish while I liked it, with like 5k players at most. It also helped my young annoying butt learn MMO etiquette, as well as learning basic controls.
Lots of games; Doom, Duke Nukem, Age of Empires, Pharaoh, Baldur’s Gate, Diablo, Dark Forces, and most notably; EverQuest.

The greatest MMO of all time, Ultima Online

This is the world I started gaming in!
I’ve played actual original Pong! Though it was admittedly a novelty. I have played Atari as well, though it was a one time thing and I never owned one myself so I didn’t include it. I’m pretty sure if I had been born earlier I still would have started playing video games by 3.

I played it in the Arcade, and even got to play Computer Space!

Runescape in 2005-2011( my first MMO ) Lineage 2 (2005-2010)
Perfect World International (2008-2010)
Tera online ( 2012 played 1 month )
Guild Wars 2 (2014-today)
WoW (2016-Today)
Just naming the MMOs. All of these have been on and off.
oh jesus… too many… we had a lot of Atari 7800 games, i had an NES and with renting i played probably 80% of the library… same with Sega Genesis. several Sega Saturn games and Dreamcast…
in like 1997 i started playing PC games, mostly FPS games… in 99 early 2000 maybe i started playing Asheron’s Call, played alot of Planetside. late 90’s early 2k’s i worked at a CompUSA and bought half the new releases every week practically…
i beta tested or tried just about every MMO… this doesnt even touch the total number of games ive played in my life before WoW…

This is probably inaccurate in some portion…
But I believe WoW was one of my first reasons to get into PC gaming. Before it, I was primarily a console user. PS2 / PS3 for the most part.
It’s been a… interesting 10 years.
Mostly Guild Wars 1 and runescape

Dungeons and Dragons on paper with dice. None of my junk computers could run even WoW at the time. When I got a slightly better computer I could run it but no other games. Now that I have a gaming rig I can run anything. So for me it was the opposite, I started computer games with WoW and that lead me to other games so now I play ESO, FFXIV, GW2, Witcher, and some sandbox games.
I started out on the NES. Then the N64, then the gamecube, Wii and xbox 360. As far as computer games, started out with C&C, played a couple small f2p mmorpgs, then WoW.
Basically everything Blizzard from Warcraft 1 forward.
As far as MMOs go, Dark Age of Camelot was my jam.
I think it’d be easier to name the games I haven’t played
Namely, FPS stuff and things like GTA; grew up in the hood, don’t want it on my systems.
If we’re talking RPGs? Everquest, D&D Online, and City of Heroes came before my time in WoW. I started here about a year before BC came out. I love MMOs, I’m an old school pen and paper gamer (still to this day!).
No offense to Blizzard, but fave (and main) MMO was The Secret World. F’n epic game. I literally teared up when they changed their play style to placate (and draw in) players more accustomed to games like WoW or Tera.
And, no offense to those who have said so earlier, but I find hard to believe that WoW is your FIRST and ONLY video game, period. How on Earth does that even happen?

No idea what game I was playing 15 years ago.
I have a friend who was SUPER into the Secret World. I tried several times to get into it but I never could. I do love me some Elder Gods and Lovecraftian horror but lamentably, never managed to make it very far.
