Yep, the days when arcade centres were more than just a kiddie casino.
That was a good one too. I used to have a couple pinball machines that I got cheap at an auction. They eventually stopped working right though and I couldnāt justify the cost of fixing them because they were so old (parts not in production anymore).
When I was a kid in the 70ās It was Pinball, electromechanicals, videogames and āno ticketā wooden mini bowls. Modern arcades are just depressing.
Persona 1 through 5.
Vampire the masquerade Bloodlines.
Resident evil
Star Trek Online, Neverwinter, DC Universe Online, numerous Steam games. I came to WoW because my friends kept raving about it. Needless to say, my other games donāt get played as much now.
You should see some of the arcade games in Japan. I occasionally go to some of the big cons around here and they usually have some imported arcade machines. Itās a shame arcades arenāt as popular in America; thereās some really good stuff out there.
Lineage 2, GunZ The Duel, Infantry Online, Starcraft 1, Warcraftā¦man I feel old.
I can look back on my life via the games I was playing. And playing oneā¦itās like getting into the backseat of a car you havenāt ridden in 30 years
lots of rpgs like star ocean. final fantasy. .hack
Oh my, haha I wouldnāt be able to even come close to a list of games. The first game I can recall playing was Pole Position back in the arcades. My dad held me in the air so I could steer and he controlled the peddles. My mother got me my first console in 1985 (Nintendo NES) and Iāve been gaming ever since. Everything from the arcades, consoles, old DOS games and current PC.
My first MMO was Star Wars Galaxies. I was pretty invested into that one. I had waaaay too many accounts!
Iāve gone to gaming conventions with lots of Japan import consoles. I know how impressive they are! When I was an arcade rat in the 70ās, we had all the best Sega pre video game games. Straight from Japan! Google Sega Electro mechanical and see the photos!
City of Heroes. Private servers recently confirmed for me that it wasnāt just nostalgia and i really did love the game, but I found myself wanting to play something under active development again.
Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord.
And various others since then.
I never played warcraft. I started MMOs in 2001 with DAOC, and played that every day until I tried WoW in 2004 and switched to it. Iāve tried a few other MMOs since then, but always came back to WoW.
Before DOAC, I placed PC games from the 1980s until 2001. Mostly adventure and exploring games, not pure āshoot and killā games. I played the Ultima series from Ultima 3 to Ultima 9, the Tomb Raider games, and Nox.
In the late 1970s (before home PCs) I ported āAdventureā and āSpace Invadersā to run on DG Eclipse computers. And I played D&D (with humans) for a year around 1976.
PlayStation games
Prior to starting WoW in 2006:
PC Games (that I can remember):
Half-Life 2
Ragnarok Online (private server)
Unreal Tournament 2004
Probably a few other niche titles
The majority of my game-playing was on console. Though immediately prior to WoW, I mainly played JRPGs on Playstation 2 from:
Square-Enix
Atlus
Nippon-Ichi Software
Bandai Namco
Idea Factory
My Gamecube games were mainly Nintendo exclusives.
DOOM, Descent: Freespace, Starsiege, Warcraft 1 - 3, Starcraft, Diablo 2, Final Fantasy gamesā¦
Runescape.
Justā¦lotsa stuff.
