Don’t get me wrong, just like the Shadowlands, the ED were portrayed as a smaller piece.
So in all honesty, it is still looked at as a connection to other realms and elune connected also. It’ll still be small in how it is presented ingame.

They also explained in the Ardenweald quests that afterlives along with spirits decease & crumble all the time — even prior to the drought, however the drought made things much worse & thus made the gorm swarm in higher masses along with the world-eaters.
They explained in the Zereth Mortis content that afterlives are constantly made by their artificial robo-3D printer (which is a super f’ing lame concept for the afterlives too) due to the fact that afterlives have always been eventually ceasing, thus requiring new ones to be printed out …
There were a LOT of things wrong with Shadowlands … Like, don’t even get me started on the muppets of Bastion — continuing to mic-drop souls into the maw, knowingly sending them to potential oblivion & feeding the Jailor further AND - vilifying the Kyrian Val’kyr that opposed such when discovered with common sense, then being silenced for doing so.
Thank GOD that abomination to lore of an expansion is over.
its what ever chris metzen says it is and all others who say anything else is wrong metzen made the story so its HIS story.
He’ll probably look at what Shadowlands did to the lore, and need a long hard strong drink first. lol
Technically the one who invented the Emerald Dream was Knaak.
Knaak doesn’t mention the Titans in regards to the Emerald Dream but does say it is a Blueprint. The fact that it is the Pattern and extends across the Multiverse including the Cosmic Realms suggests that it is indeed a Blueprint though clearly one that isn’t fully used yet(probably because Nymue is forcing the Dream to not change which would lead to the Song to end and the finished Blueprint to be used).
Someone get Knaak to write stories concerning what the Emerald Dream truly is!
emerald dream is malfurions bedroom
All we know is the Emerald Dream existed at the same time as the start of Azeroth, and that it was a perfect mirror.
We don’t know who created it, (this is even discussed in lore books on the PTR), where it originated, etc. Just that it one day existed.
Supposedly Freya created it, but the PTR also disputes this, with inhabitants saying they’ve never met a titan creation.
There’s a lore book on the PTR that explains the first world tree on Azeroth was planted by Eonar, and was a gift from Elune, a branch of G’Hanir - the Mother World Tree (We can assume G’hanir is in the Realm of Life at this point). It quickly grew massive and life began to flourish all around it, and Eonar named it Elun’ahir. Aman’thul however, saw this as an extension of Chaos, and ripped the world tree out of Azeroth. (Much like he ripped Y’shaarj out). Eonar was very sad, and her tears filled the crater that was left, then she noticed that the roots remained and were strong. She kept this from Aman’thul, and tasked Freya to guard the roots. In time, as the roots fed on Eonar’s tears, new guardians emerged to protect the roots.
So it essentially implies the Emerald Dream was created by the roots of Elun’ahir being empowered by Eonar’s Tears.
You think it’s a cosmic tree? If it could have told the stories, dang it.
Oh wait a minute, the roots are in Azeroth.
The Emerald Dream is the 7th Cosmic Force.
The 6 Cosmic Forces seek to dominate the 7th and make it become Reality.
The AU known as Azmourne holds the strongest version of Corrupted Ashbringer which means that Death is closest to dominating the Dream and converting Reality to it’s glorious image due to having G’Hanir dig it’s roots into Reality.
It is stated in Enemy Infiltration - Preface that the Nathrezim have sent a Spy to gain the good graces of the Realm of Life and sure enough Il’gynoth AKA Elun’Ahir the World Tree of Un’Goro Crater resembles a Nathrezim when we face him in Ny’alotha. G’Hanir is the Nathrezim spy tricking Elune.
No wonder the Pattern aligns with Death enough to make Azmourne stronger than other Timelines! Death is pouring down beneath the surface! It’s only Amirdrassil that protects Azeroth from fully being consumed by the Nathrezim’s variety of Death! Even then the thing protecting us is Ardenweald’s Death mixed with Elune’s Life!
In otherwords by removing Nymue(who was forcing Order) and eliminating Fyrakk(who would have converted the entire Pattern/Dream/Blueprint to the Shadowflame and forced it to become Reality) we have likely ensured that Azmourne is the One True Timeline with only Teldrassil(a child of N’Zoth not G’Hanir), Shaladrassil(had it’s core hollowed out with the Decay Dragon inside it killed by us) and Amirdrassil preserving our Timeline’s features within their sphere of influence and in the case of the former two throwing Nightmare into the mix.
Since the Light has struck a bargain with the enemy of all that likely means the Light has Draenor(which is killing the land of it’s true self AU Draenor by hogging the Spirit Energies due to the Naaru healing it) in exchange for giving Azeroth and all other Worlds to the Scourge, the Lich King and the Death-aligned Earthmother Azeroth.
We are likely getting a Horror Revamp of Azeroth! Kalimdor will be a realm of the Scourge fighting the Nightmare with Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff caught in the middle. Eastern Kingdoms will be a Nightmare corrupted land(of course N’Zoth sees himself as helping us despite knowing we will kill him so the Nightmare won’t treat us as a threat). Northrend will be fully Scourge with Yogg-Saron(who judging from his Death Magic is a Nathrezim Spy) making moves to hijack the Lich King.
In reaction to this outrage we will likely head over the seas to Avaloren to deal with G’Hanir. She(Enemy Infiltration - Preface calls the Nathrezim spy a she) is the likely Big Bad of the Next Expansion.
But Elun’Ahir was created BY the branch of G’Hanir given to Eonar, who had planted it like a seed to become a tree (Before Aman’Thul threw a hissy fit & tore it out).
I have fingers crossed we don’t see dread lords up in there. It was all the retcon rage in sl.
If Elun’Ahir(the Tree torn out of Azeroth leaving behind a Crater which I do believe is Un’Goro Crater) is a Branch of G’Hanir then G’Hanir being a Nathrezim explains why Il’gynoth(if Elun’Ahir is the Un’Goro Crater Tree and thus G’Hanir’s child) resembles a Nathrezim when he went to Ny’alotha.
G’Hanir is the ancestor of Nordrassil and Andrassil so the Nathrezim’s vision for Northrend(Arthas was Mal’Ganis’s Masterpiece in his own words despite him derailing Zovaal’s own schemes) is Northrend’s inevitable future while their vision for Kalimdor is marred by N’Zoth’s child Teldrassil and their vision for the Eastern Kingdoms is utterly wrecked by Elune and the Winter Queen’s Child Amirdrassil as well as N’Zoth’s servant Shaladrassil.
Just about everything was wrong with Shadowlands
The ONLY thing they did right was perma kill Arthas so the current writers couldn’t touch him and ruin his story too. And even the way they killed him was super lame. How do you take one of the greatest villains ever written and the best send off they could give him was to be disenchanted while Sylvanas tells him how bad he is for doing exactly what she did?
I’m still mad at how bad that expansion was lol
G’hanir was known as ‘The mother world tree’ and was given to Eonar as a gift by Elune. It’d be really silly for a Dreadlord / Nathrezim to be disguised as a branch of a world tree – or a world tree itself.
— And honestly I’d rather not have anymore Shadowlands ‘lore’ - To say it was a kick in the balls of putrid poorly written unimaginative garbage, would colossally be an understatement.
Legit.
Honestly they still did kinda ruin Arthas, they turned him into a crappy sword then into a poor amount of anima. lol
But yeah, as most the media, players in trade chat and really any public output of opinions say — The expansion was just terribad on so many levels.
Shadowlands as a whole was like reading someone’s bad fanfic of your favorite show. Where at times you wonder “did they ever actually watch it?”
Felt incredibly cheesed off that when they were called out, they just flew some BS statement of it being the perspective of others - or whatever BS copout statement that wanted to pull out of their @$$ at the time.
They retconned Chronicles as ‘The perspective of the titans’ which is obviously not the case when it was written because there’s excerpts from the books that none of the titans knew about! So yeah, Blizz were just full of crap to justify their toxic retcons & even worse ‘lore’
I think that’s part of the reason Metzen came back. To keep his lore from being butchered any further.
Butcher further?
Shadowlands already butchered, burnt, defecated, chopped up, snorted, devoured and then vomited out the lore — Then proceeded to present it on a plate to gift as ‘The new lore’
it’s a titan testrealm…
What exactly is the Emerald Dream?
After reading this thread… nobody knows.
