What exactly is the Emerald Dream?

With the recent changes to its origin in the upcoming patch, I don’t think we really know yet. I think that it is most likely a bridge between the mortal universe and the realms of life.

I know all the “No more cosmic stuff” people are going to love that though.

A zone of cobbled together assets from past expansions that only serves the purpose for a raid and daily hub that’ll be forgotten the moment the next expansion hits?

That makes sense to me

This though I’m kinda confused lol

The Emerald Dream is Azeroth’s dreaming mind in a sense, if it is destroyed so is Azeroth and vice versa. Think of it kinda like how Monks and Druids and Ysera can astral project their souls only instead it’s the dream form of Azeroth herself.

Real Fredy Kruger/Inception type stuff.

The dream has a bases of what we are in two ways, the dreamer creates what he dreams bring the picture thoughts in the mind and creates it in the reality it lives in as possibilities. In wow if a power(second point) if that power is real it can be created in the dream as a snap picture and created when needed only difference is it is aware it is creating.

I always thought it was just some malleable dream shard of reality that can take any form.

You want a place to sleep for thousands of years? A place to meditate? A place to heal terrible wounds?

The Emerald Dream is basically the Dream of Azeroth and it is the Blueprint for all Worlds whether it be Planets or Cosmic Planes of Existence.

Azeroth according to Folklore was put to sleep while fighting the Old Gods themselves. The Titans extended her sleep by having Nymue control her Dreams to make them a Blueprint for Existence while making her think she is a Titan and not a First One.

The Titan Eonar has placed Nymue in charge of keeping Azeroth’s Dream from changing and thus her from awakening to placate Aman’Thul. Once Nymue is removed Azeroth will start to awaken from the sounds of things. According to the Automa Oracle in Zereth Mortis her voice will awaken the other First Ones.

The Eternal Ones of the Void have been scheming to corrupt her before the Nathrezim do. All the Cosmic Forces want Azeroth for themselves though it seems the Forces of Death have acknowledged that Azeroth herself might die.

The Nathrezim’s chief Agents for corrupting Azeroth to Death are Yogg-Saron(Spy infiltrating the Void), Lothraxion(Spy infiltrating the Light) and G’Hanir(Spy infiltrating Life) it would seem.

I would say we don’t know if their is a Nymue that did place Azeroth to sleep .There is no lore on this in game.

Nvm,that’s in 10.2 raid that hasn’t even come out yet.

Shadowlands but green

A small plot device blizzard doesn’t understand very well.

Is it Cthun fault?

Use to be an afterlife too, but Shadowlands took a giant “I’m lactose intolerant and just ate a huge cheese wedding-cake with extra cream” dump in its mouth, along with a lot of the other lore.

What use to be some of my favourite aspects of the Emerald Dream:

— Was how it was a spiritual place of inexplicability & eternity, especially for great beings of nature and wild gods, loa and those who were incredibly powerful or well-connected with nature …

How they stated the Emerald Dream was something that existed between all realms of the universe, yet unique to each world – influenceable by the touch of the titans, world souls and other great beings, so much so that its very existence & origins were an enigma. To a certain degree — That’s how all the realms of Shadowlands should have been …

Instead we got:

“Oh yeah um nothing is actually eternal, or spiritual — or even mystical, yeahnah mate its all robots aye, the godlike eternals themselves along with the realms they guard over – oh and the realms without new life, crumble away to dust so when all life is dead, or if you’re in a solitary afterlife — Poof, your realm is gone mate. Also yourself. Souls aren’t eternal without new life coming in via dying either so yeah … Eat dung and die.”

I guess…
The emerald dream has a connection with the after life.

Me and u both.;
No it isn’t what Azeroth could be… I think, it is just a rule of cool story. No real substance, just a ‘‘here is a level or realm for life and so on’’

After reading this I know where this place is.thxy.

Emerald Dream was / is / not-sure, but essentially this –

Along with being a blueprint of what Azeroth would be like without humanoid beings, and primarily only having beings closely tied with nature.

Consider the Emerald Dream an reflection in a pond, you see the image of yourself and the surrounding in it. In the wake the ripples change the image and sometimes you are absurd, it changes. it is and it isn’t.

A private development server that’s been increasingly opened up to the point it’s almost a public test realm…

really? i just thought it was some little place of its own.

LoL,it is quite big it’s all an illusion, plus who’s to say those little particles ,dots don’t make up the whole universe.

Actually Denathrius according to the Revendreth Covenant Questline was actively draining the Shadowlands which means the Souls(which are the source of Anima) couldn’t replenish the Anima fast enough to account for the active drainage.

He used the Stoneborn not the Nathrezim for this too so the drain was probably limited to the central area of each Realm of Death.

The drainage was stopped in Bastion by the way(thanks to the Revendreth Covenant Campaign Questlines) but no word on the other 3 Cosmic Realms or any other Afterlife.
