Same people complaining about “systems” in Shadowlands are gonna be complaining about no content in Dragonlands.

The reveal was lame.

Talent rework is nice, but don’t pretend for a minute that anyone is gonna do anything other than Icyveins/Wowhead the most optimal path. Selecting talents isn’t content either.

Is there anything new to do in the open world? Are we getting another WQs/Dailies/Cache tripe train as our ONLY world content, besides the meaningless rares/treasures?

The announcement should’ve been a dozen dungeons, multiple raids, bunch of new world questing systems, new battlegrounds, etc. etc.

We got nothing.

What’s your point exactly? You may not enjoy it but I really do so let’s agree to disagree.

:+1:

Seriously. Shadowlands reveal was hype. Torghast was hype. Covenants were hype. Leggos were hype. While those features have had problems, nobody is really going to tell me that ripping a fat Convoke or popping Ashen isn’t fun.

What am I supposed to be excited for? It’s so strange to me that people seem to pretend to go crazy over reasons to NOT play the game. People want WoW to be a game that they can never play and its completely insane to me. Ideally the game has stuff that makes you want to play it.

  • Mage Tower 2.0.
  • Brawler’s Guild at launch.
  • Some kind of Boss Gauntlet I can play with a small group of friends.
  • Little puzzle dungeons or mini-game dungeons like Trove of the Thunder King.

Fun little bits and bobs that I can play for fun and get cute little things that aren’t the same old “Jump Puzzles + Rare Mobs + Hidden Treasure Chests” + Callings/Emissaries we’ve seen ten thousand times in the open world.

This. I honestly believe people like the OP are either addicted to drama, or just are contrairians. It’s like no matter what Blizz does, they will always have a problem with it!

Look, when Blizz f**ks up, call them on that!! Point out how bad they screwed up and offer suggestions on how to fix it. Now when they do something right, we as a community need to tell them thank you and give them the “Atta Boy” they deserve!

The fact that they’re not rambling on trying to sell us on the next pointless power grind has been extremely encouraging, personally.

It was more of a soft reveal :stuck_out_tongue: I’m sure we’ll get a full trailer at some point. The one we were given was almost like a teaser, but to keep shareholders happy, they had to release something

They haven’t “done something right”… they’ve just done nothing. It’s not the same thing.

Alright, alright, alright, now you’re speaking my language. I’m all for this kind of stuff as well. Especially the Brawler’s Guild, which I expect will not make a return by the end of Shadowlands.

That’s what Ion seems to think folks like. He confirmed that is the core gameplay loop for casuals in his interview with Asmongold.

You’re getting Emissaries, World Quests, and Rares for causals, 4 M+ dungeons for M+ players, and 1 raid…

Maybe they’ll put in some variation of either yeeting baby bears on to sketchy trampolines:

Or maybe we can get some kind of quest for babysitting angry baby dragons, like when Wrathion threw a tantrum when he was but a wee whelp.

They have listened to me on more than one occasion.

I genuinely get the feeling that Sentenza is a hoot and a holler once you get some liquor in him.

We will probably never know.

It is all about safe spaces now. They don’t have time to code.

Borelords of Draenor wants a word with you.

Ion doesn’t understand the power of having other game features to engage with outside of the main thing you do. The reason people love FFXIV is that it is a “home game”… people raid, but then when they’re not raiding they’re doing glam or Gold Saucer or whatever.

When you stop doing whatever it is you normally do, and you log off the game instantly, that’s a loss for the game. The game is better when you can hang out at Brawler’s Guild and watch your friends slam their face into a boss and cheer them on, y’know just hanging out in this game world. But in DF… you will just log out when you’re done with raid for the night, or you’ve done your arena matches, or what have you.

It’s 10.0, in a genre that struggles for a successful 1.2 before subs begun plummeting. With the exception of legion, this is about par for all xpacs we’ve had. Legion is the only one that threw a massive new system and PVE outdoor area at us and was lauded for it. That was new and fresh but BFA and SL were just realigns of that same mathy system.

It’s a return to roots. It’s taking classic feedback to heart. It’s then realizing finally that people play games for enjoyment and not just achievement. What made the game make it to 10.0. What did we do right, why did we change, and can we go back with corrections?

The shrinking staff, HR problems, pandemic impact (don’t forget they’re housed in a state that had a much different tolerance than some others), and shareholder focus are also underpinning a lot of what we see too. It’s all carrying degrees.

The kicker is, if they don’t deliver a fun balanced game we’ll continue to look elsewhere with sub money over time. Life will take us away, and sometimes bring us back, to wow as well.

WSJ recently posted about the slide in 1st quarter earnings and pinned it almost entirely on CoD numbers. Wow isn’t the whale we think it is, it’s more of a dolphin on the balance sheet.

Comparing it to studios who literally survive off an mmos success is just silly. It’s not supposed to be that anymore. If it was they would have been bringing in staff and rolling content out sooner to stem sub loss. Obviously that’s not what we’re paying for because we’re still here with our sub money.
