they lobotomized his character, the MoP Anduin was far more together. Now suddenly he is crying about everything, ignoring the obvious for plot convenience, being astounded by the most mundane of things and all to prop up their new girl boss character probably.
May none of you struggle with ptsd ever.
Like… even if magic wasn’t even part of the equation, having your agency taken away from you messes you up. Some of the worst things I’ve read about POWs are the stories where prisoners are made to act against their own comrades.
Anduin still was used for terrible things, even if he was being used as an unwilling and mind controlled puppet. No one would walk from that mentally unscathed.
Totally bro. I am traumatized by the time that priest mind controlled me off of the lumber mill hill.
Why can’t people understand me?
He stabbed a robot or something, I dunno I missed SL’s and DF.
A part of him genuinely enjoyed it, by his own admission, and he hates the fact that he was possessed, not under control of his own body, but still enjoyed trying to murder people in cold blood.
A part of me genuinely enjoy its when I get MC’d off the hill to my death or “rescued” into a puddle.
Do I lose sleep over this? Not really.
It was the zeppelins for me. I was a young and naive warlock, waiting for the airship to arrive to take me to Tiristfal.
A priest there too offers to duel me as the ship pulled in. Accepted for the heck of it.
Mind Controlled, ran off the edge and moved as far away from the zeppelin to the point I couldn’t make it in time.
It’s been 19 years and I still remember to this day.
Oh…thanks for reminding me about that… goes to Stormwind and kills some guards “YEAH, HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?!”
See you jump them right off the edge and if they make it back up in time you just MC them again and throw them off.
You know, now that you mention that, I seem to recall that probably being what happened.
The sheer level of disrespect. I couldn’t even be mad about it.
Sure, but you’re playing a game, but Anduin is a character in a world.
Such are the limitations of the rating they have to maintain. Any “trauma” they are able to inflict on a story character is basically a walk in the park if you’ve ever joined WM or a BG.
Not saying it’s a bad thing but people should admit the story is YA material at most.
once again, anduin is a character in a world. it would be like if you were mind controlled into killing people in real life and felt good about it on some level. that is the real equivalent, not a war mode or bg.
Wait…Azeroth isn’t real?!? Stares out of the screen in absolute existential horror…
The writers being not good at writing the characters.
Anduin was a staunch believer in redemption, peace, and diplomacy.
What essentially “broke” him was being controlled and having feelings of enjoyment while being controlled while fighting friends and allies. Think of when you were a kid playing with friends and you accidently hurt one of your friends. You feel bad about it, but then add the fact that you weren’t in control, and you may have enjoyed it. Makes you question if you’re screwed up or not.
That was his “deal”.
The problem is he’s not a Sylvanas, Gorona, or let’s say the Mograines who dealt with being controlled for a much longer time, and let’s be real did a hell of a lot worse things.
As it stands, he attacked the Archon, assisted the Jailer, and fought us (and I guess the NPCs off to the side that rooted for us). Which I get the feels bad side of things, but again in comparison to what other mind-controlled characters have been through, not horrendous.
And I know people will bring up his past and upbringing, but it never comes off as though those reasons are why he’s down and out.
Like the time he had every single bone in his body broken in order to help the Pandarians. That changes a person, and IDGaF if anyone thinks differently since they have not been in his cloth boots (you spend over a month in a hospital bed and then talk) & yet at this point of the game story he stilled saved Garrosh’s life by warning him of the poisoned food.
Watches his dad die to the existential horrors of the Burning Legion which is when he suddenly becomes a boy king. He is not prepared for this, nor seeing his fathter die, that would change a person.
Then this child deals with a global war, Sylvanus opens the way to the Maw and he is captured. Prison changes a person. He is then mind controlled and hurts and kills without a thought of it, and the writers and Anduin now have shown PTSD has finally reared its head and challenges Anduin.
Did Anduin like hurting people, or did he like the lack of responsibility? Or worse, both, & that’s the demon Anduin is dealing with inside. Which is why he is opening up to Faerin.
May everyone in this thread not have to deal with PTSD.
Stop reading into things.
Stop speculating.
Stop stopping.
Just stop.
