This. Don’t get me wrong, SL was poorly written. But the part about domination magic was not one of the poorly written parts. They described, in detail, how your sense of self is ripped away from you. It’s inherently traumatizing.

Anduin was a prisoner in his own body watching himself hurting and killing people. And eventually, he felt like a part of him came to enjoy it. Faerin pointed out that maybe it wasn’t that that he enjoyed, but enjoyed not having to be in control. Either way, that would mess up anyone.

He killed Night Fae off-screen.

Yeah, I don’t know what the big deal is. There are so many NPCs that have been Mc’d. Heck I have been Mc’d and yeeted myself off a cliff to my doom many times (in Black Rock mountain and Arathi Basin).

Anduin needs to just stop whining and (wo)man up!

He killed some butterfly things in the heart.

Which I have more a total failure of command leadership. Some colonel or general…got massively stupid. They are more at fault than Anduin for that event. they fed a small platoon to die in a no win situation. When they had so many other options.

They will never guess the 1 and only real structure in ardenweald has the infinity stone! yeah…no.

the only other “structure” was DOS entrance/area. And we know they’d not give Bwansamdi the stone for safe keeping.

And then we guard it with a few butterfly people. who we know are weak as hell. its why we, the mall walkers, are there. Mortals have to come in since everyone else is just lacking.

Put 40 dk’s and/or dh’s in there. Backup in case the prison (covered in a sec) fails. also no bias. Its the KIng! the king who is about to be beat down hard lol. Suffer well as the DK’s say!

With plot armoured NPC’s outside the place, far away. Thrall locks him up in rocks, jaina puts a big ice block over that. And now he is in 2 plot armour prisons. Even the damn “lich king” forget he could have gripped anduin.

So…the infinity stone is in a dead obvious spot. with crap guards.
He has a very forced feel bad for him story to make it real simple.

I don’t disagree, I was one of the people who defended him in the TWW trailer of looking mopey.

The problem is that the past isn’t something he’s really brought up only really focusing on Shadowlands. Even at the end of Shadowlands talking with Sylvanas it was about him being controlled.

Going into this expansion it’s again about his MC trauma that’s making him feel unworthy. And it’s not until the end when Anduin and Thrall have a sit down that it’s clear both of them felt like unworthy leaders due to their very asinine decisions in the past.

I feel they missed the mark in Shadowlands by not having him let’s say seriously injure Jaina, Taelia, or even Baine. And sure, if you were playing Alliance, you could say he viewed you as a friend, but if you’re Horde kind of out of the picture.

On top of all of this the way he gets his mojo back just feels incredibly underwhelming. But at least we see how he gets back into the groove where we never saw that with Thrall.

I think the events of SL were just the final straw that broke him. The poor dude has basically suffered his entire life and basically being a socket puppet used to nearly end all reality as he know it was the final push over the edge.

Also don’t forget, there was a lot of torturing in Torghast that we didn’t get to see, we only saw snippets. He was subjected to torture for who knows how long, and only after that he was MC’d.

And domination magic isn’t just like a regular MC. It strips away your identity and “self”, and then makes you a prisoner in your own body while you “feel” the things the MC’er feels.

No.
It’s just what you said. Nothing more.

The Jailer took away his agency, and he liked it.

I guess he realized he wasn’t the perfect boy scout he always thought he was.
