He said Blitz will be the default mode for RBGs restructuring RBGs
Ok so he didn’t say they’re removing rbgs. Restructuring doesn’t mean removing. It sounds like he said he knows BGB will become the primary pvp mode.
Well that’s not how I interpreted it, it’s also not how Venruki interpreted it.
Did you interpret it that way independently or did you interpret it that way because your streamer of choice interpreted it that way?
6v6 preform groups is something I’ve suggested in the past using the already current 6v6 brawls as the starting point.
6v6 almost feels too small, but the 6v6 brawl is decently popular so who knows
I watched it separately, then tuned into vens stream and he watched the video and gave his opinion.
So reinforced would be the answer.
That’s how I understood it too. Sort of like how they removed 5v5.
After rated BGB comes out no one will be playing RBGs anymore, so it makes sense to remove it altogether.
Personally, I think the most successful restructuring for rbgs would be 5 man groups to queue, and you get matched with another 5 man group to fight against two 5 man groups.
It gives the opportunity to more easily find members while retaining the spirit of what rbgs are and preventing full 10 man meta comps from occurring.
I will never forget the 5s team from Cata - LF 5 More RBGs
I think the best restructuring would be to let party and raids que into each other filled by solo que players. Full solo que teams should just que into each other. Everyone wins.
I don’t think he is wrong. That comes with my own personal bias but when pvp activity is measured from season to season unrated/BGs are never factored in. Which is unfortunate because even during “dead” seasons unrated BGs remain relatively active considered they have been ignored for a while now. They are more casually friendly, and quite honestly should be showcased. Which also the better BGs do that only helps arena.
All i can say is it’s about damn time.
The game should have been balanced around battlegorunds to begin with because there is more strategy involved than trading swifty macros to gank 1 person as fast as possible in arena.
And balancing of BGs translates better to open world pvp.
Arenas never should have been the focus of anything other than to let players have fun for some basic rewards. But we all know Blizzard had $$$ in their eyes trying to create esports with arena. That’s all well and good, but they completely ruined pvp for the majority of players who despise arena. And they continued balancing the entire pvp experience around it which further frustrated players. Hunters getting stealth was just one example of balancing pvp around arena rather than BGs.
Arena is probably the main reason casters and melee underwent a major arms race because class imbalances are much more pronounced in small 3v3 settings.
It’s easier to give every class the same general abilities and call it a day. Whereas in a BG with a lot of playres, you will have teammates that can help counter your classes weaknesses, therefore you should not have all those abilities.
Maybe this will lead to a more rock, paper, scissors approach to pvp and hopefully a proper pruning of abilities to give classes a true identity.
I think so. The majority of the player base is casual/normies. These people overwhelmingly flood bgs and lfr. There’s less responsibility in bgs. This mode will probably have an easier time getting healers, for this specific reason.
Now with rated BGB offering pvp armor sets, pvers who hate arena will go here instead. You always see on wowhead comment section how “cool” the pvp xmogs or mounts are but normies say how they will never get it cuz they hate arenas. Shuffle BGB>Shuffle arenas will continue to be the most popular.
Not sure about that. Those who hated arena were not really doing it other than maybe for the weekly conquest reward. But those who preferred arena still did plenty of battlegrounds.
If the rewards for Blitz Brawl are equal to arena, I can almost guarantee arena participation will plummet even further.
Since Legion this can pretty much be solely attributed to M+ and has basically nothing to do with PvP, sadly
Only speaking from my personal experience, but would disagree. BGs and Blitz are one thing, arenas are another.
That said, did you mean to quote that comment? I was more addressing how we have too much PvP content and adding additional content could make the issue worse.
Arms race happened cuz mythic plus not pvp.
I think objective based pvp could be future of wow but current bg blitz and rbgs are trash.
This may be true, and it definitely at least accelerated because of M+. But the homogenization and arms races starting happening way before M+
