He’s suggesting a glyphed and talented version of shield wall. Show me one guide that represents that as the best way of warrior tanking.
He also admitted Prot Paladins are overpowered.
No, I don’t view commanding shout as comparable at all honestly. I picked a troll because they scale better with their racial (plus I just like trolls). The same logic applies to Divine Guardian. As gear increases, Commanding shout becomes less and less valuable while a % based damage reduction increases in value. It can also be timed for big events like black holes or AoE effects.
I should mention I prefer HoJ in certain situations like the Pummelers on Firefighter, though my tank insists on stunning it himself, which I can understand.
He gave numbers, you did not.

I actually did give numbers, however I alluded to them. I’ll spell it out since taking on statistics is harder for you than just attacking me.
2.2k health increase is static, it’ll be the same until the end of WoTLK. Bosses hit for more and more as the phases go on, meaning a 20% damage reduction will ultimately reduce more and more damage as WoTLK continues. So prot paladins will actually even get more overpowered as phases are released.
Understand?
Sort of.
Most bosses won’t match Algalon damage.
Maybe Saurfang
You’re talking about the future though, not right now. You’re sidestepping.
Right now, Commanding Shout helped us secure an Algalon kill.

No, the point was based off bad information that all bosses will hit harder than Algalon since we are going forward into new phases.
The point is wrong because Algalon is likely the hardest hitting boss in all of wotlk besides maybe Saurfang.

You’d think Arthas would be the one because Frostmourne. So much for legendaries lololol
Algalon also hits hardest in phases, hence the timing of the ability being much more relevant than a systemic (and lower buffing) commanding shout.
There is still the fact that as healthpools increase (beyond Algalon and boss dmg) that Commanding shout comprises as smaller health buff as phases go on. However Divine Guardian remains static with its % reduction.
So whether or not bosses hit harder is irrelevant. A % ability will scale better than a static one.
You’re forgetting about star damage and colossal smash.
Those hurt, trust me. Commanding Shout was absolutely vital in our kill today.
I saw it, you did not.
Also: What difference does it make if I appeal to future content?
Prot Paladins are overpowered now and I’m simply showing how they’ll actually be more overpowered in future phases.
Edit: To Bigchad it’s also relevant to know block becomes less important as phases go on, so shield block becomes weaker as phases go on.
You’ve been focusing on Warriors right now, esp Algalon, and suddenly you’ve moved the goalpost when it suits you.
Our guild needed Commanding Shout for Algalon. End of Story. That’s it. No way you can possibly argue around it.
It’s super useful right now, and I’m not convinced it won’t be in the future. HP is HP, with extra HP being the difference between a wipe and a kill.
But it’s all irrelevant because prot warriors will still be used to tank every boss on normal and heroic.
You can’t just bring all the S tier specs and expect that to be a raid group.
Why be any ranged when you can just bring more locks?
Why bring any other melee when you can just bring UH dk?
Ret buffs didn’t change anything in a raid comp, you are still only bringing 1, you’re acting as if they got buffed bto S tier.
They were bottom tier and they are still bottom tier

No goalpost moving, I was just sick of getting goals in the Algalon discussion so I moved topics to future balancing requirements.
Drink that’s exactly what happens. It’s so bad now that Prot Paladins are solo tanking all HMs in 10 mans.
To the question of locks: Many people do bring multiple locks beyond utility.
To the question of DKs: Many players don’t like Unholy and so they’re in shorter supply. But if they weren’t I’d guarantee they’d be in huge proportion.
Ret buffs were undeserved and opened the discussion towards rebalancing.
I didn’t put ketchup on my burger, just liquidized tomatoes!
He’s still so mad about a what, 500-600 DPS buff? Woop-di-dee-doo!
What exactly is so special about prot pallys that allow them to solo tank where a warrior cannot? I have solo tanked 10m HMs on my warrior, it’s not difficult once you’re around the 4.8kgs mark.
You’re getting distracted in the us vs them. You need both commanding and dsac, you don’t pick one. The health buff is critical in all phases, 2k+ hp is useful for your squishies always, sure it loses a low % value in late phases, this doesn’t make it not worth bringing at all? Your initial point ‘What benefit is there to playing warrior’ is being answered here and you’re arguing the toss, why?
As I’ve said multiple times, the class isn’t overpowered, it’s basically just ardent defender. Without AD there is a comparable, superior or complimentary option in the warrior toolkit. You shouldn’t take x2 pal over x1 pal x1 war because of this, there is and always will be a space for wars in any competent roster.

Cannot stress this enough, along with Kings and Fort. All four lead to your raids surviving things like Star explosions or Firefighter P2
IF i was in the weird position where I had to pick one, I would take commanding shout though.
Passive HP to your whole raid > 6 second cooldown usable once every 2mins.
