This has to be the most bait I’ve ever seen on the topic. You skipped a TON of important lore. And you’re trying to convince us that changing the name of your people changes your race too? How utterly stupid. The High Elves that changed their name to Blood Elves, didn’t magically stop being the race “High Elf”. They also canonically did not all have green eyes. There weren’t that many that indulged in fel.
The High Elves that did not join the Horde (which wasn’t that many since most either died or did join the Horde) also never joined the Alliance like you’re claiming. They helped the Alliance when it benefited them. When it didn’t, they didn’t help. Due to this the Alliance abandoned and did not help the High Elves and they were forced to ask the Horde for help. There are even some Alliance NPCs that are not too happy with High Elves.
ah yes, now you are going for the language, its exactly what one do when he have no more arguments in the internet, congratz.
you didn’t proved a single source at all, you made things up this entire thread, like saying blood elves “fell on demonic energies”, like saying elves respect “a cycle”, making up this cycle they respect, like saying mana wyrms are elementals and they obviously are different than other animals and are like sacred cows
all made up things and headcanon.
in the shadow of the sun is the source, go read it
that is no nuance, that is abandon their own people to live nice and lazy
i have no problem in people doing that, my problem is you and others romanticizing the high elves saying they are morel superior to blood elves, they are “pure”, they are “right” they are “loyal”, when its completely false.
Im ignoring the situation now? you are the one making this up as the arguments are showed to be wrong.
Because they are, and you are upset because you simple can find a way out, you are distorting and making things up but its not helping.
only canon facts will be valid in my eyes, not headcanon, neither things you made up.
This conversation can’t go any further because you are trying to defend something false, a idea of high elves who doesn’t exist and was debunked years ago.
Ad hominem is applied to several different types of arguments, most of which are fallacious. Typically it refers to a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.
I’m worried that there will be no diversity, honestly everyone should be able to play what they like at the end of the day but it does get old but world of elfcraft
problem is its currently world of horde elfcraft. so share some of those pretty elves for us poor tentacle brained refugees to be. i dont wanna be blue anymore. brown is good.
well we didnt ask for this weird combo. they gave us this weird combo so the horde elves wouldnt be jealous. notice we dont get pretty things now unless they’re uglified first.
too late? did i lost the memo that said all races will be available to all factions? holy crap!
can i play a dwarf and worgen on the horde too or its just exclusive to elves because people who play then want to be exclusive and better than everyone?
No, I respect that we don’t speak the same native tongue. I’m just saying that is’ actually fairly difficult to be sure I’m reading it correctly.
This is not your fault. It’s just a fact of the engagement, and it’s not the easiest thing.
I provided two quotes, up above, from the Lor’themar short story. Two official lore quotes.
In fact even in that same short story Lor’themar talks about how High Elves are beings of nature.
I provided relevant quotes. If you didn’t read them that’s not on me.
That is, quite literally, the source I pulled from.
Lor’themar shows up, tells them about Kael’thas, and the offers supplies.
They were enraged that he’d show up now, after all these years, after exiling them.
They straight up tell him that he can send aid if he wants but they’ll send the hearts of the messengers back in wrapping.
They weren’t sending aid before this. They wouldn’t threaten to harm the messengers if they’d already been receiving aid.
Exactly my point. You can’t conceive of anything but abandonment.
You think that it must be vitriolic, it must be hateful, it must be immoral. It can never be anything but how you see it.
I present an alternative view and instead of considering it you merely seek to destroy it. This is not a discussion.
Conveniently I actually provided counter arguments to every argument you made, based in lore and fact, and didn’t attempt to undermine based on who you are.
My commentary might have seemed ad hominem, but it can not be ad hominem when I actually provided arguments that were sufficient. It could be, at best, seen as disparaging, but not an attempt to argue against your argument, just your manner of argument.
TBH, it would be a lot easier to stomach if this were true. The thing is, this group is ALL OVER the game. I’ve been questing with Vareesa since Wrath. I got my rep to exalted. I fly on their Hippogryph. I fought by their side in Pandaria, and helped avenge her husband’s death. I retrieved her sister’s bow by her side in Legion. My Paladin rode into battle with Arator. When I zone into the Warfront for Arathi, I am surrounded by their Battle Mages.
They are all over the game, the comics, the novels.
But Blizzard devs say I am wrong to want to play as one.
If it makes you feel better I meant represented as a playable race.
I too have played since days gone past and have seen the High Elves throughout the Alliance story. They’re kind of everywhere, if in small numbers, and it’s disheartening.
I only meant they’re not represented as being Alliance in game as a race. They exist, they’re teased, but they’re not available.
