What are 'High Elves': An Education Thread

Nooo, I wanna pretend to be galadriel in game, you’re ruining my fantasy and immersion reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

It’s redundant from a development perspective

It’s requested by players who pick at the lore like they’re quoting the Bible

Because there are 4 flavors of elf at this point and adding generic copies of red team elves to blue team would be oversaturation

High Elves are basically in three groups.

Blood Elves, a high elf subset.
Void Elves, a high elf subset.
High Elves, that continued - not a subset - just high elves. The Kiren Tor are the most well known, but there are other high elves around in game as well.

This isn’t rocket science. There is really no basis for a debate to even be tenable. It’s only a matter of preference to play as a high elf or not play as a high elf. The argument that Blood elves are high elves isn’t even worth bringing up. We all know they are high elves, but they made choices that ended up getting them fel tainted and in the horde. That is not what is even being debated. The fact that Ion prefers not to have playable alliance high elves is also not really part of the debate, because alliance players are asking for high elves already knowing full well that Ion doesn’t want them to be playable by the alliance. This thread is basically an ‘ask’ and not a ‘debate’. There is nothing to be debated here. The Lore is already there.

These huge posts saying why high elvs don’t work are actually rediculus.

I’m happy with Void Elves, but also understand why others just want to play high elves.

I would prefer to play as a tuskar, or a mogu, or a mantid, but I cannot

I suppose I’ll have to deal

I’m with you on this. I don’t want an AR to be wasted on alliance high elves.

We do have too many elf types.

With new racial customizations being revealed hourly, lets wait to see what void elves get. If they get some more natural skin and hair tones, it might be enough to lay this to rest. If void elves can look like high elves, then alliance players will finally have that option.

ha ha blue eyes go bling.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Void Elves aren’t going to be revealed anytime soon.

I think that’s probably most Alliance players, but it’s not a position that’s very motivating for participation.

How high are these elves?

Go to the character select screen, press a button labeled “Create New Character” near the bottom right. The third top icon on the blue banner is night elf. Click on that and take a long look.

Done? Now click on the button labeled “Allied Races.” On the top of the red banner is nightborne. Click on that and take another long look.

You may look back at the night elf model, if you forgot what it looks like, as many times as you like, same with nightborne.

After less than a minute for most people, you would have probably noticed… Night Elves and Nightborne are NOT identical, especially to the same extent to which blue-eyed blood elves would be to blue-eyed blood elves.

Hope that helped you. <3

Slightly different ear curve, different yet similar skin tones, and new hairstyles + tattoos… they look very very similar.
If High elves were added, presumably they would also get new skin tones, new hairs and new warpaints. which would make them just as different to bloodelves, as the Nightborn are to Nightelves.

Noone is asking for them to copy/paste bloodelves with blue eyes. We’d asume some degree of effort would be put into it.

They were exiled by their own people because they didn’t want to siphon. They made no choice.

It’s easier to say that you’re debating skills are subpar and not worth engaging at this point. You show a marked lack of critical thinking and you revert to the same argument no matter what is provided.

You don’t want to have a conversation about this. You want to prove me wrong. Therefore there’s no value I can provide to this. Not because I’m wrong but because you were closed off from the discussion from the moment it started.

If you can’t see how life is nuanced, how these events play out very differently based on the side you’re on, and how neither side was truly right or wrong, well… have a good day.

You’re taking the whole thing very personally. “Boot licking”, “dishonorable”, and so on.

Peace, friend.

Hope you get over the taste in your mouth from this, I guess.

It’s a game and it’s more nuanced than you’re willing to see it. These things don’t matter to the real world. No point in trying to denigrate fake people just to make yourself feel better.

That is simple not true

they were exiled because they are causing turmoil within the race, they didn’t just “didn’t want to siphon” they didn’t accept the elves as a race should use that method, and no one should use at all they are preaching going against it, so Lorthemar was forced to exile then, its all in the Shadow of the sun story.

You should that your debating skills are laughable, you resort to lies and headcanon to make yours points, you deflect, you ignore and make up things

when you start making crap about "elves being elves so they respect life bro" and making up “a cycle” that i have no idea from where you take this i knew the kind of guy you are.

well one day you see the that you should not make things up to support a fail argument and when point it out wrong you should accept and move

its not me who is being offended by those words, who, are truth btw

i already get it over 13 years ago you know, when high elves became playable on horde, ti a bad taste but i did get over it.

And its also have more canon lore that you are willing to see, there is no need to make things up.

ah yes, the good old let me get out in the high horse of morality trying to make the other side a bad and evil person and me the forgiving and good person who just can’t take the poison anymore

i feel like i am in tumblr

You speak in broken English, which makes it exceedingly difficult to understand nuance.

You ignore the lore sources I provided. Including that the exiled were not provided aid.

You ignore the nuance that those who were safe knew they’d be better off staying where they were, and had no way of knowing if the homeland would survive.

You ignore the actuality of the situation and rely on moral ultimatums. It just doesn’t work that way. Such a situation would create a divided people no matter what, no matter where, no matter who. On earth, on Azeroth, or on raxacoricofallapatorius.

The argument I’ve made provides an argument for why the disparate groups remained disparate. All you’ve done is argue that any dissension is dishonorable, immoral, and boot licking.

It’s clear to me that you can’t further this conversation. You can only rely on the singular statements that the High Elves are bad. Nothing else will ever be true, or valid, in your eyes.

No nuance allowed. Or grammar.

love your gear!
okay, is there something wrong with skinny or well endowed or pretty? we already have a nice spread of appearances, from furries to cyborgs to classical monsters to elves with tentacles growing out of their heads. that you’d be worried about diversity when the biggest problem is you have too many of what we want on your side. just share and your problem is solved.

Woah thanks OP! This post will make an end for this cosmetic war.

Nice to know this, though.
