What are 'High Elves': An Education Thread

Allright, I’m seeing a lot of confusin going around and feel like this needs to be explained.

Lets start with high elves (species):
By this we mean what is genetically a highelf, they are the decendents of the night elf Highborn who were banished and moved to the Eastern Kingdom to find a home. This species found a place in Eversong Forest after kicking out the dirty forest trolls. That came to an end however when Arthas showed up and ruined them.
After Athas’s invasion, the Highelves (species) were seperated into several different groups. Some took up the name of Blood Elves (faction), some seen the Blood Elves (faction) as just out for mindless vengance and refused to take up the name, sticking to being called The High elves (faction).

Within the Blood elves (faction) there was another seperation, some who followed Kaelthas (Bloodelves (faction-Kael)) and some who stayed in the city (Bloodelves (faction-silvermoon)).

The ones who refused to take up the name, The High elves (faction) stayed loyal to the alliance, and have been part of it for the past 25 years of gaming history. This is the Highelves that people are requesting. A reasonable request at that.

The Bloodelves (faction-Kael) went off into outland and joined the Burning legion, they are hostile to both Horde and alliance.

The Bloodelves (faction- Silvermoon) Are the ones who joined the horde (which was bad writing and makes no sense, but, different topic and 12 years too late now) There was another splinter group of these guys who were exiled and became the Void Elves (faction)

The Void Elves (Faction) ended up reconcecting with the High Elves (Faction) And joined the Alliance.

I hope that clears things up for people who say ‘bloodelves are the high elves’. Because you’re wrong, Bloodelves are a single group of the species ‘high elf’ but are infact not the faction that is requested, knowen as The High elves.

TLDR:
High Elf (Species) = Genetic Species that all Sin’dorei, Quel’dorei and Ren’dorei belong to.

High Elves (faction) = The High elves of the Alliance, who are highly requested.

Blood Elves (Faction - Kael) = The group of Highelves who renamed to Bloodelves and went off to join the burning legion.

Blood Elves (Faction - Silvermoon) = The group of Highelves who renamed to Bloodelves and eventually joined the horde.

Void Elves (Faction) = The group of Highelves, who renaed to the blood elves, then got exiles and became the void elves and then rejoined the Alliance, again.

I mean… if people are going to argue about it I’d rather see actual rational arguments.

All of this “Blood Elves are High Elves” nonsense and misrepresenting what people are asking for is far more annoying than the asking. It’s like… you wonder if they actually believe that people aren’t smart enough to know Blood Elves are the same species as High Elves, or if they’re not smart enough to understand that that doesn’t mean they’re the same group of people.

I was wondering what would break first: the body or the spirit.

Then we have nothing to speak about here.

You don’t have to concede an argument to recognize that someone has a reasonable point. You’re not providing counter arguments to anything. You’re just delegitimization their feelings as a way of not having to think about whether they’re being reasonable.

So I have nothing to say. Nothing I could say. You’re not winning, you’re just not engaging.

TLDR; Blood Elves are High Elves

Of course they are. Very few people have said they weren’t. That’s not relevant to the discussion, though.

Every person against High Elves for the Alliance thinks it solves the problem. It’s not even related to the problem.

How many bunches bunches is a alot alot?

Go count the amount of highelf threads and how many people have posted in them, and you come back and tell us, if you want specific numbers.

Hey, I’m just asking for basic units of conversion here. If you can’t give me that then maybe you should have been paying attention at Silvermoon Academy instead of smoking fel crystals in the boys room. And don’t even think about pointing fingers at me, I use Zandalari Metric not your outdated Sin’dorei Imperial.

How weird, this isn’t about “winning” and your projections are concerning

Either way blue eyes have been datamined for a possible character customization and those that want to play high Elves can play them where they always could

The horde

Somewhere between threeve and eleventy-billions.

Of course they can. Unless they want to play a specific group of High Elves.

Unfortunately that’s exactly what they’ve always wanted. A specific group. Which is not currently represented in game. Blood Elves having blue eyes and being genetically High Elves doesn’t make them the correct group.

It’s like people are sports fans, right? Alliance High Elf fans are fans of their local team, hardcore die hards for it. Then someone shows up and says that they can’t actually go to those games, but they can go watch a team they don’t like. Then that persons asks why they’re upset, they’re both soccer teams.

They might both be soccer teams, and they’re most probably all human, but they’re not the same groups.

All I’m saying is that dismissive hand waving, such as saying Blood Elves are High Elves, as though it obviates the desire isn’t good communication.

This would probably carry more merit if it just wasn’t another skinny, well endowed pretty elf race, we have so many already

But everyone should be able to play what they want and there really isn’t any harm in it (besides the fact the VAST majority of players would just be different flavors of blood Elves)

No, not all of them did. The Helfs scattered. Some don’t associate at all with anyone else. Some associated with the Alliance.

They’re also not a faction. They have no cohesive political or cultural beliefs.

That’d be the Silver Covenant.

Only on this forum or small RP circles of Helf fans.

Which isn’t a lot. Because it’s mostly the same people over and over again, on a forum of roughly 1% of the playerbase. Out of millions of players.

thats completely relevant to the discussion

why would blizzard add a new race, in one faction, when said race is already playable in the other faction?

last i checked new races get add to the game, not small and different subgroups of the same race

its even more delusional to think the other faction will get the race of the other faction with improved and different customization just because “its a different group name guys”
