Addons were kind of garbage in Vanilla.
Questie was so bad ppl used thottbot.
Auction addon was used
Dps and threat meter were used.
Dbm was mostly used in TBC.
You went to a few websites to look up where to stand and move. General overview of tactics for boss fights.
You just have worse memory than you think you do. End of discussion. There is irrefutable proof of the addons used, and to what extent, in classic. This is the internet, everything is cataloged.
Pull the proof. Addons got more advanced from Pservers.
Questie was pretty bad. Even with questie you would be searching on the internet about 50% of the time.

All you have to do is use google. You can visit DBMs website and see change logs, you can look up Cosmos, you can look up PFUi, you can look up Recount, you can look up Wardrobe Manager. Those are 2 different things, one is a list of API functions and resources, the other is a FrameXML mirror.
The version of WeakAuras posted in the OP seems to be missing all of its Lib dependencies, which is why it is spitting out tons of errors and flat out not working.

There is a version called vQueue for 1.12 that parses all the chat channels for LFG/LFM LF x, ect
While it doesn’t auto form groups, it does help build a list of people actively looking for people

This is going to make me sad if Cladhaire doesn’t resurface to make an update. Given that Retail has been unsupported for nearly a year, I’m not optimistic on that.
Is there a casting bar mod? I had one that showed when the cast was ‘complete’ as per the Server latency.
Nothing I’m aware of can top the drama that went on around MineCraft a few years ago. This is small potatoes by comparison. Will just have to wait for another option to get ported over. Don’t really need raid frames at level 30 anyway. Better party frames would be nice though.
