We're porting Retail add-ons to Beta, Come Get 'Em

Alright, then I apologize for blowing up at ya. Satire and sarcasm can be difficult to detect in text since it has no tone. I guess you did your job too well. Also, I’m kind of a blockhead sometimes when it comes to subtlety on the forums. For more evidence of that, review my initial exchange with Fizzlemizz.

As for your point, I understand where you’re coming from. But I would hope that even you would admit that the impacts of things like Questie and DBM on people other than those using those add-ons is heavily delimited when compared to dungeon finder and LFR. When considered in conjunction with the fact that things like Questie and DBM did exist in Vanilla, I can’t come up with a reasonable argument to claim that people shouldn’t be allowed to use them.

Perhaps, but their functionality was quite different, at least for a good year or so if I recall correctly. It took me about a year to reach BRD and that was the first time I was hearing people talk about things like Damage Meters, DBM (not sure what its name was back then). Questie I didn’t know about until BC tbh. I do remember me and a few of my friends throwing around coordinates for quests however, but never arrows guiding us.

Also sorry if im coming across a bit rude. I am in my cups atm.

If anything I think my want is based on my personal experience of what was the actual base game with little to no additions. Even back then I felt Addons streamlined and ruined many of the things I enjoyed, but now that they are coming back bigger and better I feel its going even further. It makes me a bit sad. :frowning:

In 8.1.5 you used to be able to look at the results of a FrameXML dump. There’s a method where you use Console mode to dump a copy of Blizzard’s interface code. It used to be in the FrameXML.toc file of the interface dump.

Unfortunately it looks like Classic is going with being based on a 8.2.x client and I don’t know where to look for 8.2 onwards. It’s certainly not in the comparison dump Omegal posted. Dumping the interface code meant you didn’t need to have a Beta account to extract it - as long as you had an updated beta client and could trick the client into opening for you (yes there are black magic ways) you could extract it.

We will have to rely on someone who can log into Classic Beta , on the official classic beta realms and get that number for us. They can do this by typing (or copying and pasting) the following command -

/dump GetBuildInfo()

and giving us what the 4th line it returns. Or doing this -

/dump select(4, GetBuildInfo())

Which runs the same command and selects the 4th line

Currently its 1.13.2/30406/11302. Thanks for that command it’s gonna come in handy

While I know as much as anyone else, post release Classic updates will likely get their own PTR. Beta client updates will happen as when the beta progresses.

Did it not return the build date or did you just not type it in ?

Not being mean or anything just need to know if the select version of the dump command is correct or not :stuck_out_tongue:

In any which case guys , looks like TOC number for Classic is currently 11302

It does return the build date I was just lazy (may 10 2019)
They seem to be doing server-side updates somewhat regularly though

I have no idea how that works and I would need a method that is consistent across time and release channels (e.g. _retail_, _ptr_, _classic_beta_, etc.). On top of that, it has to be something that can be automated (i.e. does not involve launching the game and using its console).

Thankfully, my frenemy Fizzlemizz did furnish a roundabout way to do this.

Described here:
https://www.wowinterface.com/forums/showthread.php?p=332150

Implemented here:
https://github.com/BigBadBleuCheese/OpenAddOnManager/blob/master/OpenAddOnManager/Extensions.cs

It has its downsides, but it is a workable solution. I’m open to something better if you have it.

moveanything, interruptbar, focus frame, bigdebuffs(losecontrol), bagnon(all bags in one bag), Class colored nameplates. Hunter Auto shot Timer

Wowinterface have a section for Classic Beta addons at -

Only Dominos right now but expect this category to fill as beta progresses

Do you know what a tease is?

Any QoL to game we get OP.

I hope so. Though by the time it’s done I may be burned out on classic anyway. I’m nearly there already. Classic level tedium.

I see a lot of people who post this about addons in Classic. You can always tell they’re the ones who didn’t play Vanilla.

Addons in vanilla were much more powerful than today. We just didn’t know how to make them as pretty.

Really look at my achievements.

Oh so I did.

You can go back on the forums of 2006-2008
My main asked for vanilla got a crazy response by someone like you. Again I don’t mind UI addons but if gives QoL it should not be in. We have done this. I have lived this.

Ah yes… “look at my achievements” the pinnacle of a Vanilla players lingo. Followed by, “look at my achievements, we don’t need QoL”

Achievements to show I was there.

I give no #%^* about achievements or parsing.

QoL horrible idea.

You know what you could start a wall of no. It’s not the first time and I will probably be back here a few years down the line. Saying something about QoL. Meh. History repeats.

QoL was in Vanilla. Bagon for bag merging, Autosell greys, questie for questing, titan panel for tracking, auctioneer, dps meters, wardrobe for gear changing. ALL QOL FEATURES, ALL IN VANILLA.
