"We're always open to feedback, but I doubt we'll change our mind on automatic dungeon finder."

This is NOT classic its Wrath classic, you already had classic, and I am pretty sure it’s still there for you to enjoy your classic experience, now let the real wrath be given.
I really wish you’d stop calling Wrath classic, it bears the tag but it’s NOT classic,.

Which is also easily proven to be false by a simple google search, it maintained subs until Cata where it dropped.

Anyone misinformation you’d like to spread? I can correct them all day

The entire premise of the Classic tag is to bring back the authentic experience of the expansion they’re trying to recreate, you and I both want the original Wrath yet they removed almost half the features from the original Wrath that made Wrath successful in the first place, that’s why people have a big problem with everything.

They had a spike on The ICC drop then it started falling.

To deny that would be you spreading misinformation.

Okay how about this for a compromise.

RDF activated for all non current content. So after naxx is over all dungeons get opened up for RDF when they are considered more dead and all prior dungeons are active?

Part of the problem is RDF kind of dropped when everything wasn’t current in actual wrath

It never saw a sharp decline right after LFD launch, any chart shows it as a plateau where it never gained much but it never lost much either, we only saw the biggest dip in Cata.

It’s not about being more dead or not dead, in that same ICC patch with LFD we also got cross realm LFD which made it so that you can be in a 3k pop server and play with someone on a 30k pop server.

This helped dissolve mega severs as well as allowed people to play with friends and family despite not being on their same realm, it opened the doors to a new level of convenience and access.

imo, if Blizzard is going to implement LFD then it should be the original version of with the cross realm feature AND the teleport.

The idea behind all of this was to help the game be more convenient, some people will call this lazy but I call it necessary. It solves a ton of problems we have today and would be an easy win for Blizzard with the players after they already botched Wrath so much already.

Thats actually untrue and the proof is out there to see, the graphs available show clearly there was no drop until Cata release. even during wraths content drought, it held steady after going up from ICC.
And RFD was actually available during 48% of Wraths expac.

I believe it actually went down for a bit until ruby sanc came online

And you believe incorrectly .

Well the most stupid, malicious thing I have read all week is you summoning the spectre of a currently occurring genocide as an analogy to arguments for and against a feature in a video game, and somehow placing yourself in the position of victim. You really should be ashamed of yourself. If you have any shame, that is.

There are like 50 different graphs rolling around, some show a dip in players after ICC

HOWEVER I know some Chinese servers actually dropped after some point there and I think some graphs may have taken that into consideration

I’ll admit though I’m grasping at straws a little because the drop in players reflected by that is fairly small

Well at least you can admit it and not keep doubling down, I gotta give you some props for that.

I think this isn’t really a fight you can have on stats and stuff like that, it’s more of a battle of philosophy in game design.

Some believe it’s good for reasons, other believe it’s bad.

I think happen to think we started losing parts of the game having a bit more of a magic feeling once we stream lined it with these systems.

I respect your stance even if you don’t respect mine, we all have our own thoughts on the matter.

The point of this post was to show case how a majority of people felt and why the Classic Dev’s statement makes no sense as it seems to cater to the minority which ultimately affects the majority.

Just because you hold a minority opinion does not make you wrong or incorrect, but since it’s being used to dictate how a majority of others play you should also understand that’s why all the frustration exists.

Trying to attribute a decline in players to the existence of the dungeon finder is absolutely ridiculous when you fail to consider all the other factors that can influence the number of players in a game. Some of these include age of the game, age of the player base, popularity of the game, completion of content, player fatigue, availability of other popular games, economy and affordability of subscription, technology, social evolution, maturation of the internet, gaming, and communications in general, sophistication of the consumer, boredom, etc.

All of these and more will influence how many people are playing a game at any one time and will influence the culture of the player community as well. Trying to point at any one factor is like a child blaming everything wrong on an imaginary friend or the boogeyman. Please just stop.

The person who you replied to later on said this:

So it looks like they’re somewhat self aware of what they’re doing.

Then revert the game back to naxx. He’s not cherry picking.

We have:queable bg’s from ICC’s patch, item balancing from ICC’s patch.

But yet rdf isn’t ok because it’s from ICC’s patch. You really can’t make this up

Partly true but then again the more convince that got added the lower the player base went.

Might have something to do with accessibility making it easier to blow past parts of the game and creates a snowball where you can just finish stuff off to early then you burn out and run out of goals.

We will never know really unless they decided to scratch the LFD idea remove the idea of LFR and then release cata/mop and see if those things actually had an impact on player numbers.

Only if we had a time machine

I actually want the naxx patch because I know that scourge strike was full shadow damage at that point and it was godly

Subs climbed into catas first content drought. But go off

You do realize LFD had nothing to do with game difficulty right? Even without it there are people doing Heroic dungeons with green gear at lv 68 on the beta, the content was designed at its core to be easy and simplistic the tools like LFD only allowed more convenience.

Then why be woefully ignorant. We’ve both said atleast twice in the past 50 reply’s that we wanted rdf with Icc and queable bg’s removed until then. Or both added now. You don’t get to bring one for the teleport and damn the other for the same thing.
