We want WOW classic xpacs to be permanent!

It’s not just a matter of having those servers running. When you are running servers bugs come in and someone has to figure out what’s going wrong. New hardware, OS and database issues come up requiring all those versions of software to keep up. Issues come up that have to be resolved. Denial of service and other hacking issues come up that need to be addressed.

And now it would have to be done for era software, tbc software, wrath software, cat software and where ever retail is at the time. And you have multiple versions of the era, tbc and wrath because people keep wanting fresh servers.

That’s a lot of different servers to watch over while development is going on for the next classic expansion and the next two retail expansions.

Even if only a handful of people were on the server, that would be enough to pay for it. The software is already stable and developed. Any DoS or hacking maintenance is also already ongoing. Monitoring one or two more servers won’t make much of a difference.

If people want fresh era, tbc and wrath servers each year it would be more than a few.

Wont be a popular opinion but i would be ok with some pets and cosmetic transactions to pay for the cost of having Era, TBC ERA and Wrath ERA servers. Its a small price to pay in order to play the game i want. One way to generate revenue in order to pay and maintain. would be to have continuous rolling fresh servers that progress through Vanilla, TBC and WOTLK. At the end of each people will pay to have characters cloned.

Also make revenue for lvl 58 character boost in TBC and lvl 70 Boost in WOTLK

I asked for servers for expansions as they were then. Not to remove them after briefly hosting them. TBC / WotLK deserve more.

Sure, some people go that route. Others don’t, they just play the game to get to thnat level. Only they know how many of each there are, boosts or playing through.

Ultimately it will be the same here as with any company. They are not going to incure costs they can’t cover.

If they can make money running all these servers then they will. If not, they won’t. That’s what any company would do. That is I expect what you would have your company do to protect your investment in their stock.

i keep saying store purchases like a transmogifier toy, a barbershop toy, an eversong cougar mount, an ashenvale buck mount, a bloodmyst moth mount, and have all of these also available as world drops with a very low drop rate and sellable on the auction house. the barbershop toy could have additional unique things like the ability to set height as short, normal and tall, new hair colors and new eyecolors within reason, of course, and befitting the era. sure gnomes have pink hair but thats their signature = odd hair colors

i dont agree with store boosts because they remove the community vibe of players grouping/helping/paying/trading with each other to level. as my post above indicates, there are ways to make money off tbc by keeping the ambiance and enhancing whats already there, with even a chance to find the items ingame

also cool cosmetics for the toy such as kael’thas’ tempest keep gear as recolors. illidan’s tats as recolors. a naga hunter pet cosmetic. my gosh its endless.

You talk about it as if people had a right to play any server they want. We don’t. It’s Blizzard that has a right to make money on their products and services.

Several people have argued that they can by selling mounts and moving people around on servers. Maybe so and maybe not but we don’t have any right to force Blizzard to do anything.

But we have the rigth to try to make Blizz give us the product we’re willing to pay for.
Not giving people what the are willing to pay for seems like a bad marketing strategy in my ears.
But then of course many like me will continue paying for the whole caboodle as long as Era and HC are included and never touch either Retail or Cata.
I just think they’re afraid to really see how popular/unpopular the different versions of WoW really are.

and renewed interest in tbc can be attained by adding content that doesnt alter player power but does increase enjoyment, such as an ethereal transmogifier toy that allows you to mog with some era friendly restrictions, a barbershop toy that allows you to do normal barbershop functions plus alter your char’s height, for example. cosmetics for use in the transmog toy such as kael’thas tempest gear recolors, illidan’s tats recolors, cosmetics for pets like a naga cosmetic for hunter pets, and so on. expac specific mounts like a bloodmyst isle moth mount (flying mount), ashenvale deer/buck mounts, eversong cougar mounts and so on.

You really don’t get it do you? People woult like OG TBC back, it’s not about generating renewed interest in the game, it’s about having the Burning Crusade back as it was. and please with our toons intact.

Yes we do but the question is, what do “we” want? No question there is a solid core of people asking for various kinds of servers but they don’t necessarily agree. For example the TBC crowd doesn’t necessarily want wrath servers and the wrath crowd doesn’t necessaraly want era servers.

Then there’s the idea that people calling for all these servers represent a minority of people in the forums who in turn represent a minority of people who play the game. What do the people who never enter notes in any forum want?

Any successful company will be watching all of that collecting stats as they go along. For example of a loud vocal group is calling for xyz servers but they look and only a small percentage of people are actually using xyz servers, that will factor in.

Like any company they are in business to make money. If it’s profitable, they will give “the community” what they are willing to pay for. It may or may not be what the loudest people in the forums are calling for.

Are you a Blizz employee?

i disagree because before classic was even released many were asking for the classic triology. some were only playing classic vanilla so they could play classic tbc and some for classic wrath and most for both tbc and classic wrath. the idea only vanilla is of consequence for classic audiences, just isnt true. these expacs stand on their own as classic, with all the nostalgia inherent

i do. i was just brainstorming ways they could make enough money to not only make it worth their time, but to even justify hiring back all the people retail and overwatch fired recently. theres alot of talent out there right now pawning their wedding rings and collectibles just to eat

and none of the things i suggested would impact player power or pvp. its not flying in azeroth or brand new dungeons. its not changes to the talent trees nor new professions. you can already increase your size but as a tauren, that doesnt seem like a good idea hehe, however being able to decrease your size is player friendly for a tauren. gnomes could benefit from increased size though. lol

No and by the way this is a classic case of the fallacy of ad hominem. If you can’t attack the message, try to discredit it by attacking the messenger.

One thing that just about every company in the country has in common is that they are in the business of making money. Are there some who lose site of that? Yes and you can tell which ones they are. They are the ones that go out of business.

I don’t know why you are disagreeing with me, I never made that claim.

well didnt you say theres no evidence of interested players other than a handful of forum goers? imagine if we are a representative slice, this means theres more out there who would also enjoy it such as those who dont want to roll over to cata because you lose the classic world and classic world pvp
