Yes that’s more like what I said. Now ask yourself this, do polling agencies like Harris and Gallup use internet forums to make their predictions? I can tell you right now they do NOT. And why?
Well it’s because the people who dominate forums tend to be aggressive people with an agenda. They tend to NOT represent the majority in any population. Then tend to be biased in favor of some ideas, against others.
When random polling is done by these agencies results tend to be more unbiased and will have a margin of error around 3%, something that is not reflected in internet discussions.
this is true for literally everything. if a representative slice of your gaming population are interested in your already designed products, this seems like an easy profit. add some spice and layer in some non-invasive fun stuff, and even reignite interest. i play all aspects of wow and have characters in every version, both retail and classic so i dont have an agenda other than loving wow
Same here. I just started Classic a short time ago, all versions, but I’m having fun there and with follower dungeons in Retail.

Do you remembe the /spit - incidence - so please do mnot say tha t cosmetics and store mounts do not alter peoples gameplay and enjoyment.
Not attacking, just curious why a player want to defent the company - the “adversary” as is.
I think we, as players and enjoyers of WoW should fight for one another, for the “right” of everyone to play his or her favourite expansion.
oh mcconnel and asmon (i’m an asmon fan btw), just werent thinking it thru - asmon eventually hit on it. see the actual argument isnt No store items in classic but rather can those same items be found ingame. and thats why i said, make them all world drops with very low drop rate but if you find them you can keep or even sell them on ah. this covers “the store” part because you dont have to pay real money to get them. the store is convenience and empowering the devs to create more and hire more. its a mostly happy circle with the only sore spot being the price on ah. hehe
I care for integrity, not for screamers. So if only in-game mounts, I could accept.
Without ever watching any stream, I went /bonk to every rider of that ugly thing I ever met from day one.
It’s really simple. Without “the company” there is no game. If they don’t make money, Microsoft will pull the plug. Now how do you get from there to Blizzard being the “adversary”? Do you want them to fail and have WoW disappear completely?
No, I want them to realize that we think we do - and we actually do - want Classic servers, want to play the game as it was originally. not re-masteres or re-anything.
Some like Vanilla. Some like BC. Some like Wrath. Give it to us. And give us a chance to pay for what we like.
only? i dont see the harm in keeping the servers up and supported by the devs and one sure fire way to do that is to add interest that is player friendly. i mean you and i are both willing to pay an extra sub for perma classic triology, which includes tbc and wrath. and i am willing to buy a transmogifier toy from the store and classic cosmetics like a kael’thas tempest keep recolor, and a barbershop toy. neither of which alter game play since the conditions are classic friendly, for example–
mog vanishes when flagged for pvp
azeroth gear only moggable by azeroth gear. outlands gear only moggable by outlands gear.
level bracket sensitive
legendaries not moggable
barbershop changes are era friendly, meaning only gnomes , draenei and trolls get odd haircolors.
if you think about it, store purchases help to make up the difference in sub numbers, since og tbc had a few million and og wotlk, had even more than that. do you think classic tbc can get and maintain millions of subs?
No, and I also think that millions of subs are not needed to run Era servers.
Let people pay for the versions they play, I would happily pay more for less if that meant I could be sure of keeping my progress in Era, BC and Wrath on integer servers with no additional frills.
Alone the price for the two expansions I never bought (SL and DF) would probsably pay my playing of all 3 (4 counting HC) classics for years to come.
But first and foremost it is not a question of economics, but a question of Blizz’s willingnes to find a solution.
it might be for blizz since the decision maker for microsoft is an e-sports dev not a mmo dev. we gotta prove wow is worth the trouble
I think they understand that which is why they have an era server.
As for the rest of the levels, sure if there is demand they will probably provide those levels but demand is not measured by a few forum requests. It will be the actual load on the servers.
There’s one opinion and his opinion is just as good as any other one person’s opinion. One place where I disagree, he says they could just bring up a TBC server and let it run. Not exactly.
As new hardware comes along, as operating systems versions change, as their network changes, etc, someone will have to make the corresponding updates to that old TBC system.
all classic games are on retail software.
Yes, all zones are there but the playing style is different. In fact I started two Night Elves, one in Classic Wrath and one in Retail just to see the differences. Teldrassil itself is pretty much the same (you start pre burning) but the interface, the rate at which you advance, the point where you get mounts, etc are very different.
The biggest difference is when you get to Darkshore for the 10-20 zone. The first city you come to in Classic Wrath is Auberdine. Lor’danel is just an empty beach. For Retail Auberdine is a ruin and Lor’danel is where you start questing.
Even if you take a 'toon and pick Wrath for Chromie Time the land is still post Deathwing’s arrival in Cataclysm.

what i mean is tbc is using the retail engine. so if the engine needs driver updates, it should cover all games using the engine. as an example, windows updates which causes your graphics card to need a driver update, then all games on your computer use the updated graphics card driver.
Yeah could be. Of course there is other software besides the engine. If you have a server running, someone has to take responsiblity to address issues.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see a TBC server. I’m curious to see where, inbetween era and wrath, it sits in terms of interface, game, etc.
