Lol the game was being played in beta over years ago so there for it still counts.
So, the Beta began around March 2004, lasting until the release in November of the same year.
Additionally, betas back then were not as accessible to the average player, especially Blizzard games (i.e. waiting for them to send you an invite to the beta, attending various events, receiving promotional content, etc.)
So, no, the Beta wouldn’t be considered in this case. If it were, WoW would have been “released” back in 1999, since that’s when development started.
lol if you look at the amount of players who played vanilla when it started it does count you cant say it doesnt count because of X y and z it does not work that way. Your feelings have no say in the fact that the game was playable in beta so there for it counts since it was playable.

Blizzard was an established company, with a proven track record of creating good games. World of Warcraft sold only (approximately) 240,000 copies in the first 24 hours. And it took them a year (December 2005) to reach 5 million subscribers.
My… feelings? What? The game was not made accessible to the broader public until November 23, 2004. Technically speaking, it wasn’t “playable” in Beta.
And even if we were to include Beta, it still wouldn’t be 21 or more years yet lol.
your still going on about this? Get over it cata toons are not going to be able to be transfered to retail. Blizz already said this in the past. Besides the fact that its probably not possible since retail and classic servers are not built on the same network or what ever.
This would impact retail players and blizzard does not want to mix the 2 versions of the game.

Ah the dreaded “well ackshually” guy. lol no one likes that Moist. Classic is going to end sooner than later, and our toons will end up on retail. You heard it here first. Also… There are no kids on this game. Everyones legit in their 30s and 40s…

Judging off of how few people came back for the most revered phase of Cataclysm. MoP will be a ghost town. Once WoD comes it’ll be the first dead on arrival in classic.
So what do you think will happen to our characters once classic ends? If you honestly think they are going to delete them, and not offer some sort of service to make money off of us to move them to retail you’re in complete denial.
Maybe you could try some of those thinking skills you’re trying to suggest others do not have yet you do.

I could do the same with other issues. For example there are almost 20 years of blue posts stating that multiboxing is part of the game and that will never change, until they changed their minds and did exactly what players have been asking for for years and banned key repeater software.
I don’t care what happens to my characters when this progression of classic ends. I wouldn’t move my characters to retail even if they allowed. I just never take anything blizzard says as the last word. They’ve changed their mind far too often to take them at their word.
I don’t see why you couldn’t… outside of the devs opening up the mouth when they probably shouldn’t have…
Made a huge stink out of nothing from classic will transfer into retail back when classic only had one classic in the name in 2019. Mostly because people were crying about having to do it… so they can get the uncollectable in retail but are in classic… etc etc…
So eventually its going to be thanks for playing all the way to here now lets delete everything and these people are mad… or make everyone mad that were told dont worry about it nothing will transfer over…
Now sure… we get to go into who cares what they think me me me… and thats fine… I will be ok with it either way. I got most this stuff on retail anyway already.
