We should be able to transfer Cata toons to retail now

I’m talking about removing the ones that were made unobtainable such as atiesh, scarab lord, immortal etc.

If there is one thing they are good at is adding stuff to the store like I said I’m sure they’ll find a way if there is money they can make

why remove them?

There’s a difference between rereleasing a game that’s already been created/coded, and creating the technology that would allow for characters to be transferred from one game to another.

I’m just saying that I’m willing for them to be removed if we could transfer to retail the reason why is simple, I wasn’t there nearly 20 years ago to get an Atiesh or Scarab Lord, I wasn’t there to get Undying and Immortal during WotLK in 2008 and if Blizzard allows someone who was just playing Vanilla Classic > WotLK Classic and has all of these unobtainable items, titles and mounts, someone who obtained those items in the actual release would feel as if those items are now more common, obtained easier and now they’re flooding Retail.

I can 100% see retail players both who have them and those that don’t being up in arms at Classic players who are allowed to bring unobtainable things into retail. It’d create a form of FOMO but less FO and more MO which would fuel their grievances, best to just remove them.

i have to disagree in classic they still had to earn them and work for them for us to be told we’re going to retail but we lose all the rare items and titles you worked for is a huge mistake.

Anything unobtainable in retail prior to the launch of Classic WoW should NOT be transferrable, if they ever find the resources to make the transfer(s) possible.

That’s like saying someone earning something on a private server should entitle them to having that same thing on live servers.

but wont you be mad when Blizz deletes your items that are no longer in retail from your transferred toon?

If I didn’t know beforehand sure but otherwise I wouldn’t mind.

please explain to me how it’s not possible. the items are still in the game. people who have the mounts from back during the time of classic and wraith can still use them

What’s not possible? Transferring characters from one game to another?

People who achieved those mounts 15 years ago, were able to enjoy having them for 15 years. People with achievements earned 15 years ago, will still have achievements noted as having been achieved 15 years ago.

They’re not going to progress through every expansion after MoP up to whatever expansion comes out in 2029 or 2030. At some point, they’re going to either kill the servers or progress them to Retail.

Killing the servers means killing the characters we devoted hundreds or thousands of hours into. They go away entirely. Rolling them over to Retail means we get to keep playing those characters. And the worst case scenario, is other players get to have mounts or achievements not acquirable for 15 years.

In the former case, we lose tons of time and effort. Our characters are gone forever. In the latter case, another kid gets to have his or her own little medal to hang on the wall, and gets to ride the same bike around the town as you. But you don’t lose any of those things.

The former would be far unfairer than the latter. It’s not even close.

They just need to bring back everything that’s been removed.

Talk to Chromie or hit up CoT, blitz ZG, not get the mounts this week either, talk to Chromie/go out the portal, and we’re back to the current timeline.

Have always said nothing should ever be removed. Every chase left in game is a reason to log in.

Other people having what I have has never, and will never, have an effect on what I like. If I like something it’s because I like it and, even if everyone else had it, that won’t change. If someone having/not having pixels defines our value as a person there are bigger issues in life than someone else getting a mount/transmog from over a decade ago.

As to the rest of it: A day will come that the servers are shut down and everything goes dark. That day is not questioned… it will come.

The question is: Were those hours wasted or enjoyed?

If, on that day, we would see those hours as enjoyed then they were not wasted.
If, on that day, we would see those hours as wasted why are we adding to them?

Lol it was alot harder to do these things 20 years ago vs today. Back then people actually had to figure it out it was alot more work 20+ years ago.

so? people still had to earn them

Lol yeah but not on retail they are to separate things. Not everyone who plays classic plays retail and not everyone who plays retail plays classic. So allowing this would just cause a problem between the player base.

I’m not sure why you put “20+ years ago” since, as of November 21, 2024, the game isn’t even 20 years old yet, much less over twenty years old.

The “difficulty” we faced back then wasn’t necessarily based on the achievements, titles, etc., being difficult to obtain, it was lack of knowledge, terrible internet, and sometimes even worse computers.

In terms of us having to figure things out - that’s somewhat true. While YouTube wasn’t popular at the time (or even released, depending on how many years we go back here) we DID have websites with various guides for the game.

They DID still earn it, though. It doesn’t matter which game they got it on, they still earned it.

While I agree that we shouldn’t be able to transfer characters from one game to another, what problems would it create? Classic players wouldn’t be affected, so the only players affected would be retail players, and there’s nothing stopping them from joining Classic (especially with the launch of fresh servers today) and earning the achievements, titles, etc.

Lol it is if you played the OG beta!!!

Yes we did we had thottbot and the old book guide

Exactly!!! Its kids who feel entitled and think they deserve these things.

It wasn’t released until November 23, 2004. The game isn’t 20 years old yet.

It doesn’t matter when the Beta was around, since it wasn’t replaced. Using your logic, it’s likely over 30 years old.

Yes, which goes against your own point.

Why are you so obsessed with calling everyone kids?
