But it’s established lore.
No, give us Gnome and Night Elf Paladins first.
Until then, take a number and wait in line.
yeah…I know.
So… Void Elf paladins?
While I find humor in your logic…
It does not decrease my derision for the current writing team, nor make me more inclined to agree Void Elf Paladin is a good idea.
Then the lore made up on the spot for Void Elves should be enough to negate the need for playable High Elves then .
We all need playable High Elves. It will unite all of Azeroth.
I am of opposite opinion on it, I feel racials is an important foundation of what a race is and it’s back ground.
An orc that don’t rage for example would feel quite weird.
Because it would hurt gameplay to lock specs baised on races. Lorewise there is only holy priest lfd.
I think you need to study up.on light vs void lore some more. Maybe look at the cosmology chart too.
Yes in a dumb way…
aka no it won’t lol.
Alliance does not need another copy of a blood elf.
Half elves will suffice.
I see this said and can’t find anything to back it up, only ones this could apply to are Lightforged.
Also Alleria and Turalyon can touch just fine if she’s not going void form. It’s in the novel.
Just let void elves be void wielding paladins. Have a whole grouping of various orders using different styled powers and let us customize our paladins as we want.
There’s a whole sect of shadow wields, they’d accept them just fine. It’s why I like to say Natalie Selene should talk to Alonsus Faol about an order of shadow/void wielding paladins in preparation against the light, since we’ve seen numerous instances of the light being not so good.
Sure can, see above
They start out as such. Paladins are just a martial priest dedicated to a specific power that uses it for good and to protect others. Expand that out to other powers and it’s just another level of customization and something to use in stories. Why does it have to only be the light? Just because it’s been that way? That’s a bad reason.
Various paladin orders with different spell effects
Silvery Elune themed spells - Night Elves and Worgen
Shadow/'void themed spells - Undead and Void Elves
Fiery based spells for Dark Irons (I’d quite like this one for my DI paladin)
Lightning/.Rain based for Kultirans…martial sea priests
Maldraxxus/death themed - Prelate of Bwonsamdi, Undead too?
Fel based to play a corrupted paladin like Tyrant Velhari - be great for playable Man’ari
Arcane spell effects for Nightborne would be great.
get creative.
It’s a roleplaying game, more customization and letting people play their characters how they want is a great thing.
Just come up with neat ideas, make up an in-game reason which is very easy to do.
Certain races could start as a certain order, have a small quest line to pledge to another order to change your spell effects, or make it a barbershop thing.
Take the same idea of differing visual effects and apply to other classes where they fit.
Maybe a change to shadowpriest for Lightforged to make it light based…same for the other specs for void elves or undead or whoever wanted to use them.
We’ve got twilight’s hammer paladins using the light…void would have made a lot more sense in-game.
I’d be surprised if he doesn’t show up in a future patch, it’s all pointing to it.
She can touch her husband just fine.
This would be a fun little thing if there was an option…Void elves and Undead could take a small amount of damage when using a spell if they went Light based.
They don’t have to be light based they’re already void, let them channel it to protect the world.
You know what’d be neat…there’s that group of blood elves with the anima golems and blood magic…a blood magic wielding paladin option.
Combine that with a san’layn allied races or visual options, that’d be pretty spiffy.
Yup! and put the spell effects team to work making it even more cool with multiple options.
Doesn’t have to be. Just use the void to combat your enemies and uphold paladin ideals.
Elevate the cult of the forgotten shadows to a church, recruit some warriors and priests that wanna, and start an order of martial shadow priests.
blue electric based spells with added yellow sparks and such…tie it back to mimiron or the titans or some such, spark of creation?
Then yeah, robotic druids would be cool.
Turalyon and Alleria are husband and wife and can do things usually associated with such just fine with no ill effects.
Yep, that’d be great. Make the shadows serve the paladin.
I’m still a bit bummed shadow wasn’t an aspect of light. It really should have been.
Could have had light/shadow vs void/darkness.
Shadows only exist in the presence of light where darkness is the absence, and void the absence of all.
Indeed, the novel makes a point of explaining that they’d only feel pain at one another’s touch if Alleria were wielding void magic at the time.
From that, it sounds like Turalyon is in Light Mode 100% of the time, which makes sense considering he’s Lightforged. Alleria has mastered the void, so she can decide when she uses it and when not.
The real trick is that Void Elves aren’t the same as Alleria. It’s hard to say if they’re in, ‘Void Mode,’ 100% of the time, since they have an uncontrollable Void Form (Entropic Embrace).
I understand they are at odds with each other, they are polar opposites. Yet the Void Elves are not fully corrupted. And as others have showed there is precedence in lore with the Light and Void interreacting with something blowing up.
Without touching the point if void and light mix (I think so)
When did this linking Elf and Paladin come about? They have always been considered excellent magicians, their only relevant paladin is Lyadrin
It comes from 16 years of Bloodelf Envy
What other types of spells do they use?
This is not what HE fans are asking for and you and I and everyone else knows it, this would simply enrage them more if implemented as such… to clarify I’m not opposed to Void paladins, but we all know it wouldn’t satisfy the people asking for VE paladins.
I’m sorry, but it just does not make sense to have a void elf be a light wielding paladin.
Yep, it’s why I advocate for void spell effects, but if someone wanted to use light, could have it do a negligible amount of damage for a fun flair effect.
Or just have a light based void elf paladin shoot fel from their hands hahaha
I still wish they’d divide the high elf customization options out of the void elves and make it it’s own allied race, could leave a bit of overlap, but then double down on the void stuff for void elves. Maybe there’ll be a bunch of void stuff when the do a proper pass on them. There’s been some great stuff suggested.
It’s really odd that night elves aren’t already paladins since they have a ton of martial priests in their race.
This is why HE need to be moved into their own allied race and done properly.
Then give them a paladin option and light based spells, and then void elves can have the cool void stuff. Then if one prefers the other, they could go do the quest or barbershop to switch.
The more options the better.
Also go back and properly do wildhammer and the trolls.
High elves should not be lumped in with the void elves. Blizzard needs to do it properly and not half-assed.
Indeed. If only Blizzard had done this from the start, I imagine a lot of people would be much happier.
Void Elves needed a lot of development and work. Adding High Elves at first and then introducing the Void Elves in BFA and properly developing and seeding them into the lore as Alleria’s followers, would have made the addition of their aesthetic to High Elves a well received move, and it could’ve been timed to coincide with adding San’layn/Dark Ranger options for Blood Elves so neither of the two wound up with more subrace options than the other.
Because the Void Elf NPC’s are not using Holy or Dsic spec. They ONLY have access to shadow spec but Blizzard can’t put a class with 3 specs as only one spec on a playable race.
You and the rest of the HEFA crowd. That’s who.
This would be true for almost any other game except WoW.
They are corrupted more then alleria is (she can control her powers since she had very specific and controlled training) void elves have been transformed into what they are now, almost becoming void-walker creatures themselves.
Suffice to say they are as much void as the lfd are light.
