Uhhh no it’s not, it is there literal lore and how the class is created in the WoW universe.
Because there lore stats they do not, otherwise disc wouldn’t work the way it does. (It uses both schools officially in balance, if priests had one or the other internally thru could not use the other without repercussions.)
Void can do these easily;
Currupt
Mind control
Mutate
Consume
Light can do these easily;
Empower
Heal
Burn
Purify
Cleanse
While the other is capable of doing some of what the other can, it takes a large amount of effort and energy to perform normally. This is due to the forces being opposite of each other;
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone answer this, so I’ll chime in here. Silver Hand initiates go through a specific ceremony to become full paladins, in which they vow to uphold the values of the order and receive the Light’s blessing from their new brothers and sisters. This blessing fills the new paladin with the Light and grants them their full powers. We have at least one first-person account of this, from Arthas of all people, courtesy of Rise of the Lich King:
I’d be for it if they were locked to only using the high elf-y customization, but at that point you might as well just make High Elves actually playable.
Either way, kind of lukewarm on the idea. If I want to RP a high elf paladin I’ll just roll a warrior and wear their mog.
Speaking of… forsaken Paladins almost make more sense than Void elf pallies. Iam all for more class/race combos… but I’d rather see void elf Demon hunters before pallies (still two supposed diametric opposes forces… but more conceivable than light and void.)
The problem with the “Paladins are infused with the Light” argument is that there has since never been further proof to support it. The only times it has been expressed were exclusively within two outdated novels (Arthas: Rise of the Lich King being one of them). Other than that, it has never been shown anywhere else and especially not in game.
We also have to keep in mind, that even if we were to consider that piece of information as still applicable, it is exclusively applied to Human Paladins. There is no information on if any other race underwent a similar process.
In ever lore circle I am apart of, which is many, none consider the “paladins are infused with the light” as canon. However, that doesn’t mean Void Elves should therefore become paladins (at least not in the current sense of the class).
Dude just stop. You high elf wannabes have already begged and thrown tantrums for enough, stripping the Blood elves to the bone. Leave us our freaking bones and go away!
NGL you all did this to yourselves. You opposed the high elves so badly where there was an established pre-wow split and now the mailable void elf monster has come back to bite us all… high elves should have been done up front and the customizations could have all been totally different from the inception of allied races.
They are called Blood Elves…the High Elves that remain…and there are only a few…are relatively neutral like the ones south of the Plaguelands…cant remember the zone name.
Not trying to argue the viability of high elves especially when numbers don’t matter. I am just pointing out that we could have had alliance high elves already and been done with it 3-4 years ago. Now they are making up for the mistake to give void elves the “desired” aesthetic.
The Band aid could have been ripped and at least formed a scar by now, but the wound festers with every change to void elves as they seemingly have no choice b to make them More like blood elves.
Tbh the blood elves need way more customizations imo. The jewelry and such is so flat, they could have had tattoos, arcane and magic scars, better beards and better hair styles. Core races should always be worked on.
No it shouldn’t have. High elves were already a part of the horde, the crybabies just couldn’t handle it and threw a decade long tantrum. Now void elves are being ruined when blizzard should have told y’all to shut up and sit down.
They have been NOT available since the beginning and the closest thing to them has been Horde for 16 years…and people have been salty about that ever since.
That said if they remove most of the faction barriers the salty peanut gallery can roll their Blood Elves and be a Paladin and play with the Alliance if they want.
Removing the faction barriers has many larger game issue benefits as opposed to just creating a new race to appease a vocal minority of the player base.
I did complete it, and there was nothing there in regards to infusion. The Night Elf that goes from Priest → Paladin recites a vow, but they aren’t infused with the light.
The narrative team likely swept that under the rug knowing they’d be introducing a race that was actually infused with the light and there would have been little-to-no difference between them and the original order of human paladins besides race.
