It does sound familiar. But I don’t know which spec(short of locks or sp, maybe a rogue, I’m not sure)
Talent Go Long (SV), Up close and Personal (BM) {Same as Lone Wolf/Adaptation.}
Pick the talent, equip a bow/gun/crossbow and your SV melee attacks swap to BM ranged equivalents.
Pick the talent, equip a polearm and your BM ranged attacks swap to their melee equivalents.
Bam, I just created 4 different play styles in 1 Class via a single talent!
You’d just need to target specific talents that will work either way. Like Stomp or Stampede over Barrage for BM. Or even less changes for SV.
It would be much simpler to add a talent to BM, which swaps Cobra Shot and Multi Shot with Raptor Strike and Carve.
However, Blizzard seems to be set on SV staying melee.
it’s still a half measure solution that will rear up majority of problems although I love the idea.
It’s like one of those guys you had in chemistry who didn’t study gets a problem in class and knows their wrong on the problem but just won’t admit it and tries to fix it by copying off of some one else.
I’m happy with this.
I have a better idea in general for a beast master melee class because in my opinion the only one who could survive in melee range against other classes would be the beast master.
The general idea of this would be what would the idea of a beast master and how would it play. Bm- Physical-Pet damage- Bleed damage.
Spells
- Raptor strike / replaces cobra shot
- Wing clip/ replaces concussive shot
- Kill command - unchanged
- Lacerate/ replaces Barbed Shot
- Dire beast- Baseline, haste increased to 8% up from 5%
- Dire beast hawk (Bm only) - Baseline
- Carve/ Replaces multishot - upgradable through butchery crit’s - cause bleeding
- Muzzle/Chomp(YEOUWCH!!) - same as Sv’s melee but being a beast master allows your pet to silence.
- Viper Strike (Mamba strike)/ Replaces old viper sting - drains mana
- Bestial Wrath - unchanged, Cd reduced by lacerate
- Harpoon - the exact same as survival’s
- Disengage - unchanged
- Aspect of the monkey (brought back Bm only) - increase dodge (%) for (?) seconds, reasonable cool down similar to rogues evasion
- Aspect of the Dragon hawk (changed with dragon scale armor Bm only) - Reduces all magic damage by 20% for (?) or 6 seconds similar to monks diffuse magic / rogues feint
- Aspect of the turtle - Unchanged
- Aspect of the cheetah - Unchanged
- Aspect of the eagle - Unchanged from Sv
Passives
-
Kindred spirits + Spirit Bond (Sv healing portion) - increase focus by 20 & heals 1.0% maximum health per second.
-
Exhiliration - unchanged
-
Beast Cleave - now after Carve/Butchery
-
Raptor strike - 40% damage
-
Raptor strike - critical hits causes target to bleed (separate d.o.t from lacerate)
-
Beastial wrath - unchanged, but Cd reduced by 12 seconds each time you use lacerate
-
Exotic Beast - unchanged, but also allows you to swap the spec of your pet to either ferocity, cunning, or tenacity (Bm only).
-
Call of the wild (replaced or new) - Reduces the cool downs of all aspects by 20%.
-
Wild protector - Baseline
-
Turtle in a Half shell (new) Bm only - Allows hunter to attack during aspect of the turtle but reduces duration to 4 (which is half of 8 the last time I checked my math) seconds.
-
Mastery of beast + damage portion of Spirit bond - Mastery - Increase the damage done by your pet and all beast under your control by 15% and your pets focus spenders by 13%
The idea with the aspects would be similar to old stance dancing warriors. I could do a talent tree later.
Nah MSV rocks. Best the spec has ever been.
It almost seems like if someone posts anything that remotely suggest a non melee surv spec, you are quick to respond with something along the line of melee surv is best ever,…etc.
I know you love melee surv and I respect that but based on the number i-love-melee-surv or its equivalent posts you made, are you feeling insecured about the spec? Worry that melee surv will be taken away from you?
Or…or I’m being realistic, and celebrating how much I like the spec.
RSV isn’t coming back, why dwell on it?
seems desperate for attention. most of his posts are in this thread. his other thread about melee hunter in classic got laughed at.
Its called being attention seeker, or simpler a troll.
I don’t mind melee surv. Even though I think the chances of range surv making a return is slim but with Blizzard, you just can’t write it off completely. Hell, you can’t write anything off.
It’s great that you are celebrating melee surv…but I hope you know the difference between celebrating and gloating/bragging/rubbing into people’s face.
Sure sure hate on me for enjoying a spec. These people hooked on RSV, which doesn’t exist, need to move on.
It’s sad.
ah thats right shoudnt have included holy palli or priest but disc tho also why no feral, enhancement or windwalker
if we look at it from melee dps vs caster dps
listing class/spec back to back Melee - Ranged
arms - elemental
fury - balance
ret - afflic
a-s-s - demo
outlaw - destro
sub - shadow
havoc - marksman
survival - arcane
enhancement - frost(Mage)
windwalker - fire
frost(DK) - beast mastery
unholy
feral
i am not against the thought of having hunter be purely ranged but better yet why not have both a weapon and a gun and you could freely switch between either styles kinda like old stances ranged stance melee stance have all abilities turn into the opposite version when you change stances
Then caster classes would whine and ask for hunters to have thier old dead zones back. Best way is to have talents that replace range abilities for melee, then now one can say hunters have some unfair advantage.
that is a good idea and maybe you could go to a class trainer to swap into ranged/melee or just have a skill on a cooldown that swaps it could be as easy to do as a druid changing from cat form to moonkin form. either way is good but id say maybe reserve some talents and just have some passives idk.
I have an idea, instead of dwelling on bringing RSV back, which obviously isn’t happening. Play MM! Crazy concept I know.
Better to just be ranged through and through. So the deadzone doesn’t need to come back. Itd be just as easy to leave bursting shot to keep people off of us and…give us a shot(like old raptor strike) to reduce dmg we take or something
Instead of focusing on recreating Arms Warrior in the Hunter Class “but a little different this time”… play Arms!
The word “trolling” actually comes from a fishing technique in which one casts out bait to catch fish—and that’s exactly what internet trolls do. They use rude statements and other techniques to try to “lure” you into getting angry or responding. Their only goal is to get you angry—just like your sibling used to do when they’d poke you or repeat everything you said. Often, they latch onto powerful individuals, in order to feel more powerful themselves.
Avoidance is and has always been the best course of action, hands down. The majority of trolls thrive on the confrontation—after all, their singular goal is to get attention—so the more you ignore them, the better. Downvote their comments or block them if you’re on a forum that supports such features, and move on. It’s incredibly tempting, but try to ignore them the best you can. Don’t respond to them, not even to call them out as a troll, and they’ll go away. Even a simple comment like “please stop” or “go away, troll” can bring attention to their comments (either by lengthening the thread or, in some forums, actually causing that thread to move higher in the chain). If a troll returns to their computer with zero replies, however, or if their comment just floats to the bottom of the thread, they’ll go looking somewhere else for the attention they crave. Showing them that you can be baited, even a little bit, is just asking for more.
Hunters could just swap out talents in resting areas and that swap abilities. Or like Druids have, or Hunters own aspects just switch stances that change abilities from RSV to MSV.
Aspect of the Eagle is too short and has a cool-down.
