Now, I think an argument could be made for people who have 50 toons if all of them are over, say, level 80.
Just make a trigger in the game that automatically grants 10 more character slots to the account. Make it harder and harder to grant more slots.
Like, for 60 slots, the requirements are all the characters must be level 80 or higher.
For 70 slots, they must be 90 or higher.
80 Slots? 100 or higher.
90 Slots? 110 or higher.
For the full 100 slots? They all must be 120.
If someone actually wants to devote THAT much time to this game, I think Blizzard SHOULD reward them. After all, they’re actively giving that much time to their Time Played metric.
I think you just are giving your own definition to those words.
If you can demonstrate you actively use 50 toons for gathering, helping friends, RP etc, then that should be sufficient.
I think, even WITH all that, its still impossible to use 50 characters regularly.
I understand not wanting to delete toons, but you should understand them having to draw the line some where too.
If you guys are serious about actively using 50 toons and there being a cause for a 51st, show it!
It should be easy, right?
If I were to do it, I’d compile a time lapse of me doing something unique on each of the 50 characters.
There are many options, probably.
Just like in the past, if the community is serious about wanting change, then demonstrate there needs to be change.
Because even as much as I play, I can not possibly fathom how you could actively play 50 characters even in a 6 month span, let alone any short term cycle.
And I never said we did. Please reread what I posted.
Nope. That data can’t take up that much space. Especially with even less people playing now than before. And we also keep part of that data client side.
We have. Multiple times. Especially now that we have so many AR and more to come. I don’t know what more you want.
I don’t understand why anyone would throw away the work they put into characters in this way. Who is to say if they may need this or that character next week?
It is not up to you to decide whether someone is utilizing characters sufficiently to be permitted to keep them.
I would love to see where you got the idea that you should be permitted to decide who may play characters when they want to and who should be forced to delete them.
“All”? You can keep multiple windows open when you have multiple accounts. Your characters can play together.
I have 40+ toons, and it takes me the whole xpac to level them all to max and to flesh them out with nice gear. Its pretty much a full time job. Its not something I can say I am active on all 40+ toons everyday, just not happening. I level a group of them up at in an organized fashion. Then move the the next group, when one group reaches max level I will gear them all up, then move back to the other group as that group gets parked for a period of time. So on and so on.
That’s all fine and dandy but if they keep releasing new races and potential new classes there will come a point where it’s an issue if players keep making them.
I do the same.
I only have 2 accounts, and I’m too lazy to learn to multibox using a program, but one can alt/tab between them fast enough to make use of the cooldowns on both toons when fighting.
I should multibox properly though for world PvP.
Come to think of it, players against multiboxing should be all in favour of increasing account size. No way would I be having a second account and multiboxing if I could have all my toons on one.
I don’t alt tab. I just don’t use full screen, and have one window in the upper left, and one in the lower right overlapping. When I’m using the top (main) character, I can see all the actionbars of both, as well as both minimaps. It’s easy to click from one to another.
I have no preference on this matter either way, but out of curiosity, why must a player demonstrate anything? I think Blizzard should have the data they need to determine whether players are hitting the limit.
To demonstrate to his satisfaction would mean showing you play 100 characters for 2 hours a day each.
Don’t expect someone who only sees their toons as tools to mythic+ on, and will happily ditch any whatever is the current flavour of the month, to have a clue about why we grow fond of our alts and have uses for so many.
You can’t let your style of play dictate how other players play their own characters.
For some they’ll level a character and focus on doing everything on that one character.
For some they prefer to create multiple characters and play them in various ways, so without a focus even on leveling.
Some might get to max level and be done, and move on to another character. Some don’t like dungeons. Some don’t like raids nor pvp.
Myself, I play a handful at a time. focusing on a few and getting them to max level. Once I’ve done a raid a few times, typically only via LFR, I consider them retired till the next expansion or big content patch and I’ll go play another character. Sometimes I’ll even go play another game.
I likely could have easily leveled 25 characters in the time I’ve spent doing other things, but that doesn’t mean I’m doing the same thing as all other players or that they’re doing the same as me.
The current character limit is becoming a bit too limiting.
It and the naming rules both need a bit of a change to all for more characters and variety in naming them.
