WCL Launches In-Game Addon!

No they arent, they are stopping you from joining that group.

That group doesnt hold the key to ST or any raid in wow.

That group doesnt give anyone permission to enter anything in wow.

They are stopping me based on data they shouldn’t have, and they gatekeeping me from joining their group or guild or whatever.

Look, I’m not going to argue with you. You’re getting blocked.

I love proving these kids wrong.

See how you blocked me, and i still have access to the forums and all of wow?

To me this seems like a domino that is going to get addons banned. This is nuts.

It wont.

Wow was literally made with addons in mind.

If blizzard doesnt like the addon they just ban it like thye have before.

Personally, I think this addon goes into the ban territory.

It’s paid (donations, whatever you want to lie about ), and it’s like a cocktail of toxicity. It’s bad enough to find groups now, but this will just make it pointless to even try. Apparently, people on Twitter and are losing their minds about how bad it will be for the game, so I suspect it will be a matter of time before Blizzard is forced to act.

For the sake of the game I hope they do. Holy crap is this toxic.

I mean whats different about it than just taking 10 seconds to look someone up?

If the addon isnt allowed people just spend a few seconds to look you up.

Its the same outcome.

What about this is breaking TOS???

To me, you shouldn’t be able to look people up. You can’t stop them, but still.

At the end of the day, it’s a game.

And this game honestly has enough gatekeeping as it is. I’m lucky on my main. I have a guild to run stuff with. Pugging must be unbearable.

It’s not. Toxic as hell, but not breaking the ToS.

Outside of the whole paid mod thing.

I mean logs are literally done by blizzard.

you can literally go to wcl and opt out/make private if you dont want logs of you char to be public

Fair enough, but we should be able to hide them.

Again it’s a game. All that stuff goes to far. Next they’ll want your credit score.

I am opted out.

you can make them private… So obviously you’ve never even thought to look if you could

I just think this goes too far. Honestly, parsers go too far, but that’s just a calculator.

Again, thank the maker. I’m a guild that literally doesn’t care. It’s great.

I mean its a game and people can pick who they want to play with and unfort but all players arent created equal.

And I hope for world peace that wont happen either

Be careful with this one, team.

Just read Blizzard’s add on ToS. This one is clearly in violation. You can’t charge for anything related to an add on. They don’t want money involved at all.

Blizzard does not enforce their own ToS in a lot of cases (restedXP) but if they decided this was a bridge too far it could put you at risk.

  1. Add-ons must be free of charge.
All add-ons must be distributed free of charge. Developers may not create “premium” versions of add-ons with additional for-pay features, charge money to download an add-on, charge for services related to the add-on, or otherwise require some form of monetary compensation to download or access an add-on.

There’s no need to be that way.

I would hope we are all adults here.
