Like when they got rid of duel spec. No one got reimbursed for their gold, but they made the game better overall

Conversely, they could not remove waterwalking from water striders and instead not allow them to use the mount equipment. That’s what I’d do to “satisfy” the whining.

It’s Blizzard’s game, and it was causing a huge balance issue. People WHO HAVE UNLOCKED AND USE the water strider were complaining it was the only good mount for them to use!

Not at all. Though I don’t MIND the change, I did SPECIFICALLY farm BOTH of those mounts so I’d not be only using one color of a mount for water walking.

I think the only complaint people have now, is that they have to choose. Unless that part is just really unclear, it sounds like they won’t be able to use something that they do now to prevent “daze” AND the water walking thing, on the strider or other mounts.

So if you look at it from their point of view, they are losing something. Currently they can use the water walking strider mount, use a no daze thing, having both.

At that point, you’re choosing to have anti daze instead of water walking, so you’re actually GAINING the ability to make a choice. Player agency.

You’re misrepresenting the argument. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone argue that they shouldn’t allow water walking on other mounts, simply that the striders shouldn’t lose their innate ability. Exclude them from the equipment system so they can’t have two buffs, and let everyone who wants water walking on their favorite mounts have it.

Posted this basic same idea, then read through the 100+ posts I missed and saw your response. So, naturally, had to like it.

Technically, I do own Water Walking. I am a Shaman, and I have it in my spellbook to prove it.

I also haven’t once asked for it. I have the Darkmoon ray and the Vashj’ir seahorse and I enjoy using those. For the ~60 seconds a day it would save me, I don’t care.

That being said, on the same line of logic, I have all 8 of the Allied Races unlocked, yet I am constantly suggesting that the requirements be eased up for new players.

OP is defending the fact that Blizzard can take away whatever they want from the game and they should be applauded for doing so even if it alienates and annoys their customers.

Man, you must have been one of the people screaming at Riot when they re-released the “Limited edition” skins back into the shop. You are getting in the way of the game progressing.

You can buy a game (e.g. Mortal Kombat) for $60 and pay $10-15 for each expansion for it to be $40 for the game + expansions a year and a half later. It’s the natural process of gaming. Also, there is something that can be used by everyone that does the same thing as the strider mount and it existed before the mount did. People have apparently forgot that water walking potions exist.

You know, I don’t have the Water Strider mount. I was considering repping toward it, but this news came before I could, so I probably won’t bother. I’m trying real hard to understand people’s outrage on this.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but no matter what combination of mounts you had before, you are no worse off with the mount equipment system. If you had the strider, then great, now all your mounts can water walk if you want, or you can get the anti-daze effect or the goblin glider.

The only way this hurts you is if you somehow feel angry about people who didn’t have the strider now being able to water walk.

If that’s the case, you’ve had multiple expansions to use it, and having the best travel mount in the game locked behind a four-expansion-old rep faction is pretty ridiculous. I lack any sympathy for that.

It’s going to be just like what happened with 310% flight speed when anyone could buy it. Some people will cry, others will mock them and two months from now this drama will be a distant memory.

Going by the logic of everyone defending the change-

Mage Tower appearances (all hidden appearances actually) should be available to all players.

Allied races shouldn’t be rep locked anymore

Flying should automatically be available in all past expansions

Holiday mounts/pvp mounts/rare raid mounts should be available at a vendor

Etc…lots of things that are rare or rep locked

Op and friends says you don’t own any of this stuff so just because you put the effort into getting it and other people didn’t bother doesn’t matter. You’re just entitled

If you READ my post, you’d notice I stated specifically that it was never touted as a limited availability. Thus, Mage Tower, Holiday mounts, PVP gears, etc. should all be just as difficult to get. But your response is a troll, so I guess I already gave it too much attention.

I won’t be at all surprised if next expansion we have to replace/upgrade our equipment to have it function in new zones. Expansion and zone locking is an excellent way for Blizz to create content without actually adding anything, since they can keep us constantly re-earning what we already had.
