The water strider is (was) a quality of life feature.
The current devs feel that earlier devs that built fun features like this to attract paying customers were spoiling them.
You remember that interview with Ghostcrawler where he said devs wished flight hadn’t been implemented? He was speaking in retrospect about what happened before the current clique of devs started to create their vision of the game as a basis for future development. Back before that time, devs looked on new, fun features as a design challenge and a way to attract new customers to the game.
The current devs would like to remove all quality of life features from the game and make it the totally hardcore game they think it should have been if earlier devs hadn’t been pandering to casuals as they prepared for BC.
As personnel changed at Blizzard, the new devs were given the freedom to move the game toward harder content, ie, Cata dungeons. As we all know, this was a failure. The takeaway they got from this failure was that it was too little, too late, because players were spoiled by convenience and conveniences.
Ion figures that people wouldn’t know they weren’t having fun if they didn’t come to the forums and read what some unhappy customer was saying. He figures we should all be raid loggers like him if we were playing the game right.
He did build the game he wants to play.

No reason to be mad. You can use water walking account wide at level 20.
Thus it renders the “nerf” pointless.

There is absolutely no point in jumping through hoops to gain something that will be taken away…guess it’s time to look for another hobby.

Then it is pointless i earning anything in this game,rep,achievements and aotc’s just take them all out because it is worthless.
Imagine posting a human paladin thread as a Zandalari.
I have the strider and a TON of alts and I don’t particularly care. For me it’s just another mount. shrug But I’m a collector, so. I’m glad I’ll be able to use any mount for it.

ROFL you cant be serious. Are you just a mad person 24/7. They put something in the game in that was WIDELY asked for and you STILL find a way to spin it like this. These forums are truly unbelievable

That’s right. Crying all day every day wah this needa fixing wah why am I not OP wah whyd you take this away. Everyone acts like a 2 year old.
If that’s what you consider a special achievement.
When any half blind monkey can do Anglers dailies.
Take away our time played then for rep grind as well ,blizzard did change our achievements already some even had to redo them again.So all is pointless in the end ,Take it away.
And unless they’re sending a free water walking equipment to each of my alts, and any future alts I may roll, then yes, I do have to buy it again. And again, and again.
It’s honestly kind of ironic they’re doing this right after the Q&A where Ion was talking about how they made a mistake putting so many of our abilities on outside systems, and how they’re going to try to add more permanent features to the game.

I am just wondering what all are they going to do, will our ground mounts be able to fly? I would love flying on my Felsteed.
Will I have only one ability to use and that will be across all mounts?
Imagine being so entitled you think you deserve a mount ability that you choose not to work for and remove it from the people that did

You get the inflatable water shoes from The Anglers rep vendor.
So you’re still being rewarded for your rep grind. Stop crying.
Can we wear these shoes and walk on water? I would love that.
