😡 Waterstride Ability Removal is Wrong

Ive had a strider since MoP also. I do not care about the change. you think because someone has a different opinion that they are the “one exception”

You accuse him of strawmanning and then you go ahead and throw a straw man at him.

Yes, if you already have the Strider…because that means you are Exalted with the Anglers. If you’re not exalted with them… you STILL have to do that grind.

You will just be pigeon holed in to using 1 of 3 abilities, Anti daze, water walking or parachute mount.

That is unless you are a billionaire, sounds like 1k each to change them.

They’re removing it’s ability, giving you 1 free item to replicate the function and forcing you to rebuy that item for every other character you have to get the same function you already have.

Yeah, absolutely no idea why people are complaining about it.

Yeah… moving on to a reasonable person now. Have a nice day.

Note two things.

  1. This will be a piece of equipment that is crafted and must be used. This means they can easily declare it legacy when this expansion is over and make it not work past level 120. Maybe a future recipe will be introduced for the new expansion, or maybe water walking mounts will just go away. You really think they’d go back and give the water strider it’s ability back if that’s the case?

  2. The sky golem is being made a special exception. They are making equipment just not work on it, and it’s retaining it’s ability to herb while mounted. If they did the same thing to the water strider, it wouldn’t change anything with their plan. The strider would still have water walking regardless of the equipment you have on, and wouldn’t double benefit by also being daze proof for example. They actively chose not to do this. Ask yourself why.

They will give one item per character, just like they used to do with the store mounts.

I get what Blizzard is trying to do but the damn things are called Water Striders. To not be able to walk on water even with a different piece of equipment in the slot is dumb.

Again I get it and understand why they have to do it. Doesn’t mean we have to like it. I would rather my Water Strider be like the Sky Gollum and not be able to benefit from any other abilities. Just to keep with making sense.

Ideally yea all of this should be kept to a single megathread, but realistically having multiple threads shows how important the issue is to people and makes it more noticeable than keeping it all in one thread.

But from what I can tell the Equipment is account wide, so equipping it on a mount will enable it for all characters that can use said mount. So you only need to use 1 item per mount, not per character.

So again, mountains out of molehills.

From what I read it was the character that has the reputation for the mount that receives the item. Not every character.

No equipment is per character, not per mount. The item itself is Bind on Account, not its ability.

Showing that you are lying makes me unreasonable. Lol. Perhaps having integrity not to lie would be “unreasonable”

Just like the lightfirged rune

No it’s not. It’s per character which is why they posted you can buy the water walking equipment BOA and send it to any toon that can use it at level 20.

It is wrong. It should function like the Sky Gollum and just not be able to benefit from any other equipment slot ability. It is a Water Strider. Let it be that and leave it alone.

Agreed. This way if they decide our BFA level equipment shouldn’t benefit our mounts in a future expansion, our water strider won’t be left beached…

Exactly. I don’t care about the new equipment. Give everyone Water Walking on any mount they choose. I just want to keep the mount I earned, and I’m not out-of-line for wanting that.

I so hope this works that way.

It should be though. That would be a superior system - this is just mostly a junk system.

The reason behind removing WW from the strider is a little convoluted but I’ll try to explain it.

Blizz wants all mounts to be able to WW … but they also dont want to just give all mounts WW automatically because then it takes away from professions that make potions, and classes that have WW spells.

On top of this they also dont want people to have two mount powers (ie WW and antidaze) permanently on a character.

So they come up with this system in which strider owners will get one free mount equipment piece and “discounts” on future ones. ( I also heard the WW equipment will be sold on the strider vendors so you might have to grind for it anyways)

What this does is it keeps shaman and dk and alchemists happy because theyll still be unique in that they can use the anti-daze kit and still have useful WW abilities

It also prevents strider owners from having both WW and another mount power active on a character at the same time ( unless they use the 2hour profession made bardings ) thus rendering the whole idea of moving away from striders moot.

So, there you go.
