šŸ˜” Waterstride Ability Removal is Wrong

Well, we donā€™t know the whole picture yet (since we canā€™t play on the 8.2 patch yet) but calling the item a BoA could mean 2 things:

  1. Itā€™s like you say and itā€™s a per character thing, which is tolerable imo.

  2. It means you can mail it cross faction to equip it on mounts that character canā€™t use, such as opposite faction mounts and/or class specific ones.

Iā€™m banking on 2, but next week will get the full picture.

I feel that this new system is more good than bad. Those who are complaining should chill instead of looking for something to get mad about.

It could actually be a lot better, why go with mediocre.

and neither do you

so, just hyperbole, got it

Assumptions based on previous experience is more like it.

Evitel and Taliesan were allowed to play the PTR and they reported how it worked. Also there is a blue post on page 1 of this forum, specifically stating you can send this equipment to your alts and they can use it at level 20.

That statement makes no sense if itā€™s applied account wide.

Glad we recognize they are only just now getting out of hand and havenā€™t literally always been like this since the forums existed.

People want to make their own topic because their own personal take on the subject is clearly the most important one, and everyone is going to go ā€œomg you are so right! This thread ends the discussion once and for all!ā€

But alasā€¦

I feel that thereā€™s more to come. This new mount system is the tip of a potential ice burg. Maybe we will see more customization for our mounts in the future. I think it will happen and Blizzard is introducing mount equipment to test the water.

Your number starts with a zeroā€¦

Now that multiple people have established thatā€¦can we move past it and stop trying to derail with it?

Kthxbi

Itā€™s character based.
Basically itā€™s a ā€œgemā€ slot each character will see on their mount journal.
Using the equipment on one character will have no effect on the others, so this could mean spending a fortune if you want to equip a bunch of alts.

As with gems, using a different equipment will destroy the previous one.

alright then, hereā€™s my thoughts. I did the rep back when it was relevant and I have no objections to the change. I had several years of use of this mount and I actually think itā€™s kind of neat that I wonā€™t have to pull this ugly thing out to cross water.

Justice for the Water Strider, keep pushing we can win this. :facepunch: :muscle:

Okay, explain to me how leaving the Strider as it is and allowing other mounts to use the new Water Walking equipment is hurting you.

itā€™s not obviously. Sorry if I gave that impression; but I also donā€™t think itā€™s the big deal that you and others are making it out to me.

It sets bad precedence

You can water walk on any mount already if you use water walking potions. This is an unnecessary change to the water striders.

Because:

  1. If they let it have a slot, it becomes objectively better than every mount in the game so unless your a Blood DK, you can just slap on Anti-Daze and you have the perfect mount for everything, and weā€™re back to square 1.

  2. If it canā€™t take Equipment, it becomes devalued and less desirable to use since itā€™s locked into a perk every Mount (sans the Sky Golem) can have, and also making it less desirable for those who genuinely like the mount but donā€™t necessarily want WW.

More options isnā€™t a bad thing.

Im not all that happy about it but Iā€™ll save outrage until we have all the facts in.
