Water Strider

Ok,mage nope you’ll get dazed ,knocked out and nearly die.Not good.

Why is it everyone is so upset that others get waterwalking?

I’m gonna love it.

Is it because we are mcwelfaring it?

Step aside, you had your time… now see how a elite mcwelfare case does it.

That’s not the issue. The issue is that the mounts we went out of our way to get are losing their ability.

Mount Equipment, fine, whatever, ADD it to the game. Just stop breaking things to add something new. Make striders exempt from mount equipment the same way sky golems are.

My Sky Golem can water walk…

Casts Water Walking

And yet you don’t look at post history and stand there pointing a finger about something you know absolutely nothing about.

In several previous posts, I’ve pointed out how absurd the gearing in BfA is and how it promotes stagnation in players. In other words, getting gear, or anything else, handed to you for no effort, breeds laziness and entitlement. It also makes raiding obsolete, reps, profs or any other game activity trivial.

Thanks, have a nice day and I hope you get some incentive to play the game.

You mean just like what they are doing with water strider. By taking it away they are removing the earned experience and reward. If it’s good enough for one rep item to be taken and bought with gold they need to remove all rep requirements to buy anything. Fair is fair, right?

Thats not true, you get a free piece of equipment to use to get waterwalking, so you actually lose nothing.

Blizz doing what Blizz does best. Take away. Nerf fun. Water walking was exclusive to the Strider. It was the best of MoP.

ONE toon gets free shoes.

ALL others must PAY for them.

Currently ALL characters on an account with a water strider can use that mount to cross water with ZERO EXTRA COST.

We certainly ARE losing. Shouldn’t have to pay to regain the strider’s ability, doesn’t matter if the cost was ONE COPPER.

Exactly, all pvp mounts and all rare and raid drops mounts need to be added to a vendor so everyone can buy them. No one that has them will lose anything. I’m getting my water walking equipment back in the mail so I’m not losing anything. So all things that require rep to buy needs to have that rep requirement removed, no one will lose anything, people will only gain, and that’s a good thing.

You are right every character that is already made or will be made at anytime in the future should be mailed one. That way it’s fair for everyone. no one will ever have to sped gold on it. Also everyone should be able to go to the Anglers vendor and buy them for 40g, that way they can change when need and it not cost a fortune. Why should some people have to pay more, every one should be treated equal.

I was unaware of this. I just went and looked it up. Yup, it’s a character-based slot, not a mount-based slot.

Well.

I just changed my opinion. This is a stupid change. Why in the world would I want ONE special ability for ALL of my mounts? This would have been fine if it was a mount-based slot, as I thought it would be in the first place.

The only way I lose nothing is if I can still use the water striders FOR WHAT THEY WERE DESIGNED FOR, regardless of what I put into the mount equipment slot.

Because, I’m telling you right now, that mounts are about SPEED. Making the only logical mount equipment choice for me and many others: SPEED.

And we lose the water strider ability to get it.

And that’s NOT “nothing”.

No, seriously, the water strider issue aside, this is a really dumb change. I couldn’t care less about the water strider losing its water walking ability. But replacing it with ONE slot for ALL mounts? That’s… amazingly dumb.

Like I said, if it’d have been one slot PER mount, that would have been awesome. I’d have dug that. But one slot for ALL mounts?

Nah. Just… nah.

Agreed. It has all the hallmarks of being a slap-dash quick hack with little planning or consideration.

They could have done so much with this… like, I dunno, a character based “Artifact Saddle” which had branching traits you could invest points into to gradually improve various mount capabilities.

Sadly, there are tons of players who are probably assuming it is per mount, not per character.

Just as there are people who didn’t grind rep for the strider, assuming that tomorrow they will be off and running with their mount equipment, not realizing that it is going to take time for people to get their profession up and farm the mats for the items.

Unless, Blizzard steps in and gives those people a free pair of shoes too

My guess is the equipment patterns will be locked behind rep vendors where you need at LEAST revered in order to even get the pattern.
Then, the mat requirements will be so ridiculous the equipment pieces themselves will be listed on AH for tens of thousands of gold.

I thought it was per mount too, not per character. Now I am doubly ticked. But life goes on and you roll with the punches.

Picking a mount for an intended purpose, and using that mount for that purpose… according to the blues is the “wrong choice”… still waiting for AH/repair/transmog/passenger equipment… considering I see them more often than the bugs.

PvP vendors removed because they think we’re too stupid to buy gear from an NPC…

Take away too many choices, and things we earned, and blizz will be playing with themselves because everyone left.
